Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
Don't forget the big meeting Saturday morning in Sunland-Tujunga to protest the shady backroom deal by Rocky Delgadillo with Home Depot, despite widespread community opposition. Here's your big newsflash: This old, dead, Republican Mayor will be in attendance to lend moral support to the good people of Sunland-Tujunga. Here are the event details: Saturday, March 15th, North Valley City Hall, 7747 Foothill Blvd, Tujunga, 10 am till Noonish.
In a last minute act of retribution, Fellow Mirthala Banger Fabian Nunez has stripped two foes of plum Assembly posts. South Gate Democrat Hector De La Torre has been turfed out as Chairman of the Assembly Rules Committee and Anthony Portantio of LaCanada lost his helm at the top of the Higher Education Committee.
District Attorney Steve Cooley could become the first person to be elected to a third term in that post in over 70 years. And by the end of the year he'll be making nearly $300,000 per year. Let's hope he finally starts going after corrupt local politicians like he promised eight years ago.
City Controller Laura Chick will present her Blueprint on ending gang violence at a meeting of the City Council's Ad Hoc Committee on Gang Violence, Friday. LAPD Chief William Bratton and Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca will present testimony regarding the Controller's Blueprint.
It's the end of an era in Van Nuys. Wickes Furniture goes out of business and Costco Drive is dedicated. Oh, and then condos.

Hey Higby we in Sunland Tujunga would prefer you not come to the Home Depot meeting. If you stay home we could get about 10 more of our neighbors in the room.

The S-T Town Hall Meeting sounds like
it's going to be a riot! In more ways than one! These people have a legitimate beef against this deal, and I can't wait to see how Dale Thrush tries to spin it!

Steve Cooley did not do anything when Cardinal Mahoney was stonewalling on the investigations into the church molestation cases.
Had he done what he should have he would have lost a lot of votes for it.
Politics is a dirty game.
