But we start off with the new symbol of CD 14's proud new papa Councilman Jose Huizar. We here at the RED SPOT INSTITUTE are in the name of modesty, a "tiny red spot" in the "BLUE OCEAN OF BIG GOVERNMENT LARGESS". Yet our esteemed Councilman must be in search of his true inner self or legacy??.
So in the vain of the "Performer formerly known as Prince", we will bestow the Councilman with the moniker "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN AS JOSE HUIZAR".
On the subject of last sightings, Councilman Jose Huizar was last seen leading thousands to Hazard Park to honor the 40th Anniversary of the Walkouts, Blowouts, whatever term in use today. Sal Castro who must be given credit for his actions back in 68 was honor by the likes of Huizar, Councilman Ed Reyes, School Board President Monica Garcia and State Senator Gloria Romero among others.
Plans are to place a plaque at Hazard Park. Yet it should be notice that Hazard Park has been placed within the Adelante Redevelopment Zone. So could it be that the historic meeting spot for thousands of students in 1968 may be carved up for building by the likes of USC and others??
Academia Semillas del Pueblo is moving ahead in expanding their teachings to the 9th-12th grade level. "ANAHUACALMECAC" an International University Preparatory High School in "Alta California" is now signing up students. For info@dignidad.org
Parents and students are protesting the removal of the popular football coach at Eagle Rock High School. Mediation may be the next level in this saga that has seen walkouts, protests and heated exchanges.

****BREAKING NEWS****: Gil Cedillo aide Auturo Chavez has dropped out of the race to replace Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez. This leaves Ricardo Lara and John Perez as the top two candidates to replace Nunez. The County Labor Federation will make their endorsement on Monday. Rumors that Lara would leave the race were denied by the out-going Speaker today in Sacramento.

The 40th Anniversary of the East L.A student walkouts was a circus or should I say a Greek tragedy. There was enough comedy for the Pocho Hour of power. When I read about it in the paper and watched it on TV, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...so I did both. It had a cast of characters that included cast-offs, wannabes, has-beens, and oportunistic Latino politicians. These so-called Chicano walkout leaders only come out every ten years; other than that, you never hear about them. Take for example, Bobby Verdugo. This guy's claim to fame is that he is a wannabe comedian, a college drop out, and a convicted felon. Then you have the great Sal Castro, this guy has not done anything since the walkouts 40 years ago. In fact, when 40,000 Latino immigrant students walked out in March 2006 against HR 4437, an anti-immigrant piece of legislation, he spoke out against the walkouts. Maybe he was a little jealous because the student walkouts in 2006 were bigger than those of '68 and he was not asked to lead them. Then there is Mita Cuaron. This wannabe artist is a 55 year old lesbian who wants all drops put in jail..Mita, with an educational system so screwed up, do you blame anyone for dropping out? Next, you have Vickie Castro, wasn't this the same Vickie Castro, who as a school board member was responsible for spending $300 million on the Belmont Learning Complex that never got built because it was built on land that was contaminated? Then you have Big Mamma, Monica Garcia, a 300-pound lesbian leading the march. Other than having a big mouth and eating double cheese burgers with menudo, she has not done a thing as president of the LAUSD Board. Finally, you have the ex-bed buddy of the late, great, Miguel Contreras, state Senator Gloria Romero. This woman has never done a thing for education and never participated in the '68 walkouts. As a matter of fact, she sponsored SB 1381 the Mayor's proposed take over of the LAUSD, which was thrown out by the courts. Her and High roller, Fabian Nunez wanted to deprive voters of an opportunity to vote on the issue. When we finally met the enemy...we realized...that the enemy was us.
So since you guys haven't mentioned it here, I'm just going to put it out there:
BOTH Ricardo Lara and Arturo Chavez are dropping out of the 46th Assembly Race, with Ricardo formally dropping out of the race when presenting himself at the COPE endorsement meeting. He said that it was time to rally behind one candidate, and that he was pulling out of the race and endorsing John Perez.
Arturo Chavez's comments in the Capitol Alert go to show a few things about him:
His skin isn't tough enough to be playing with the big boys when it comes to running for office.
Let's speak frankly here: He is Cedillo's guy. Lara is Nunez's guy. Perez is Villaraigosa's guy. You would think that if ANYBODY would have have the leverage to muscle out people, it would be the incumbent, Nunez.
But here where Labor and Villaraigosa are together, you have to admit that once those 2 chips are stacked against you, unless if you have the Democratic Party and $200,000 at this point, your chances of winning are slim to none. Villaraigosa IS one of the primary reasons why Arturo Chavez is no longer in the race, and his comment was purely his way to take a small jab at Villaraigosa while he still could publicly. Don't expect them 2 to have lunch together anytime soon.

There is a garbage depot in Boyle Heights, on Washington near Soto. They call it recyclilng station but this is the place where all the trash trucks dump their loads and larger rigs can take the trash to the dump site. Sort of the "union station" of L.A. trash. Thousands of tons go through here everyday and, thanks to Pacheco, the CLARK Fund established a fee for every ton transferred. The amount collected is to be used at he discretion of the Councilmember of the area - Jose Huizar. Antonio never used this fund because he and his staff were clueless that it existed. Huizar has been using this for community events so as not to tap into the general fund for all those "giveaways" you guys on this blog continually cry about.
If you ask me it was a rather ingenious way of establishing a cash flow for an underserved community - another reason why Nick Pacheco was the best Councilman the 14th ever had.
Look how proud One Who Knows is to say no one else would "dare" challenge Antonio. That's right. The reason why people bow out of elections is because they don't "dare" oppose.

CD14 gets money from the recycling station that is used to provide community amenities in the district and the councilmember gets to decide how the money is spent. Villaraigosa used is, some. Huizar has used it more.
That's what it's for -- it's not taxpayer money, it's gravy train for the district as payback for having the nasty station here. Yeah, like the Westside would ever allow it there.

Great to hear that Juan Jose Gutierrez is running for the 46th Assembly District. Besides being a long time resident, he knows the issues and the solutions to the many problems there. The 46th was totally ignored by that cocky asshole Fabian Nunez. One thing for sure, Juan Jose will not sell out his gente or be seduced by corporate power and money.
