Live Blogging from Sunland Tujunga

We're here at the North Valley Town Hall where local residents are stating their views on a secret backroom deal between Home Depot and City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo over the placement of a controversial branch of the hardware retailer in the area.

Sister City Blogger and No Home Depot campaign leader Joe Barrett is speaking and giving the introduction to what is happening. A good showing of Sister City bloggers including Professor Mailander is in attendance as well as Toni Guinyard from KNBC and Wendy Greuel Planning Deputy Dale Thrush.

Among the choice comments so far: Joe Barrett said "The city does these backroom deals and they wonder why we're angry and cranky and upset!"

Another amazing thing: A City Attorney told Joe Barrett that the reason leaders in Sunland-Tujunga were not consulted as to the secret agreement between Home Depot and the city is because the community of ST is considered a "special interest."

Wow!

They might be a special interest, but they are PART of the City. There should not be secrets from them.

Why didn't Wendy herself go?

Interesting that at least this confirms that HD admist without admitting openly that this as a project, as Ms Beck stated so well. Best perhaps we hold tight, keep a vigilant eye on the Dpt of B&S planners because they are the ones who screwed up during the initial permit allocations and now this should be carefully monitored. What are the chances of them doing it twice ? As Mr. Sellers say, this could work to our advantage and bring us closer to having at last a full EIR.
