The Mayor needs to tax your phone and internet service because the City has no money; still the City Clowncilwants to give gave an event fee waiver to a porn show in Hollywood.
Now the old, dead Republican Mayor is all for porn but not on the government dime.
Clowncil President Eric Garcettihas had a motion to be that was considered approved Tuesday last Friday to waive all event fees for the "Lust for LACE" event in Hollywood on Valentine's Day.
According to the event's own flyer "Lust for LACE" features "all manner of delightful debauchery, by creating a night featuring explicit, juic, tasty, slippery, slimy, crunchy, gooey, sexy, voyeuristic, festishtic live action animated narrative squishy hand-made video, live art and musical performance."
Perhaps President Garcetti would like to reconisder after watching this video:

This issue was brought to their attention before they voted.

Are we voting for proposition"S"ex?
Voters in Pasadena are probably thinking about the contentious presidential race when they go to the polls tomorrow. It would be very easy to overlook a new tax hike scheme buried down the ballot. But just because big things are going on across the country, we can’t forget the threats to our freedoms in our own backyards.
The proposal called Measure D is nothing more than a new tax that is bad for taxpayers and consumers in Pasadena. Tomorrow, vote No on Measure D.
If Measure D passes, it would mean a new tax on the communications products you have come to depend on like text messaging and the internet. And you can be certain, if Pasadena wins the chance to tax their residents more, other California municipalities will be sure to follow.
Piling on more taxes isn’t “modernization.” It’s a serious step backwards for Pasadena. Unions and politicians will be out in full force tomorrow supporting the new tax; it is essential that freedom advocates come out stronger to defeat this tax.

Jan Perry seconded Garcetti's motion. Perry was against Hooters for neuters. That was just a bikini contest. This is video pornography. If you could watch all the way through the video, there was a guy jacking off in the video. It's okay to pay for the fees of a video pornography event where the proceeds go to a private group but it's not okay to merely allow animal services to receive donations from a bikini contest? I don't get it.
You 'don't get it" Why a prominent city of L A Dept. couldn't be publicly associated with 'hooters", the tacky club with its play on big boobs and a wet bikini contest?
This event is not associated with the city, however, I suspect Eric wasn't careful about vetting it before he signed on -- they probably told him it would make money and bring PR to Hollywood or something. That raises the issue that public benefits should be examined before approving waivers. This sounds like a WeHo thing -- which he and Zine, Rosendahl all attended, and that was tacky enough.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention I read this report somewhere that basically said that the guilt from voting yes on S would cause serious psychological/physiological damages in a person. To purposely aid in deceit (i.e.vote yes on S) takes such a post-traumatic toll on the body and mind that it (the body) begins to haunch and shrivel in shame. The first appendage to completely shrivel up, die and fall off is the penis. No, really -- it's TRUUUUUE! I'm just sayin'...!!! :)

Never in the history of this city has a council member group been ripped apart for being so dumb. LA city council members are a bunch f morons who are made fun of at meetings all over the city. No one respects them and they laughed at all the time. Doesn't surprise me the stupidity they act on every week

MOTION (GARCETTI - PARKS) relative to declaring the 80th Annual Academy Awards Presentation on February 24, 2008 a Special Event (fees and costs absorbed by the City = $77,129)
THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY ESPECIALLY IF THE CITY IS SUPPOSE TO BE IN STATE OF EMERGENCY.
we think the academy awards bring in untold revenues that eventually get taxed by the City.
this one is probably value to waive these costs, to keep the event.
