Open House at the Autry highlights expansion plan

The con job, err, selling of a expanded Autry Museum has begun.

Jackie Autry, John Grey and the cast of looters of the Southwest Museum held a free Open House on Sunday to showcase their plans for the Southwest Museum Collection.
The City of Los Angeles and the Autry National Center have begun an
important public review process for the Autry's plan to modernize and
reconfigure its Griffith Park facility. The modernization plan provides greater
access to larger segments of the collection, especially the Southwest Museum
Collection, which has been hidden from the public for decades.

The plans should give pause to the likes of the Sierra Club, Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council and the Friends of the Southwest Museum.

Simply if this goes through, kiss the Southwest Museum goodbye and the inpact on traffic in Griffith Park will cause consternation within communities surrounding the park.

More in the days ahead on this travesty and how you can help to save LA's first museum.

Mrs. Jackie Autry’s addiction is MORE, MORE, MORE…

Jackie Autry doesn’t have anything better to do than to LOOT the Southwest Museum under the guise of saving it. This is all about her not the memory of Gene Autry, he died several years ago. This is the story of an empty woman that wants to fulfill herself with things that are not hers. Jackie Autry wants to be noticed so she wants a HUGE museum, one that donors and taxpayers will be paying for.

Are we going to allow Jackie Autry and her paid politicians destroy the First Museum in Los Angeles, The Southwest Museum?

Anyone that supports Jackie Autry’s agenda to absorb the Southwest Museum is a looter by association

I don't understand? If they move the collection out the shabby Southwest Museum and move it to the new location at GP, wouldn't that allow more people to see the collection and shine a bigger spotlight on the heritage? What am I missing here?

Why is this looting? Looting means the collection disappears. This sounds like an upgrade.

When Jackie Autry came to the Southwest Museum under the guise of helping the museum, she SIGNED the Merger (there was no exchange of money, Autry never paid a penny for this agreement) it was with the condition to rebuild the Southwest Museum as one of the great museums. Their own Preservation Architect Brenda Levin showed different plans of how it could be accomplished. John Gray (Jackie Autry’s CEO) refused to release this information to the public for almost a year. In the meantime Jackie Autry with all her millions bought alliances from the Mayor, Councilman Huizar and a bunch of wannabes who are selling her lies and are allowing her to walk out of this Merger, a legal agreement.

If the Southwest Museum was in need of restoration it was do to the ongoing sabotage that the Board of Directors of the Southwest Museum inflicted upon it. They did not want the artifacts to stay in this community. Since the late 1980’s they have tried to relocate the artifacts to other areas. At that time it was stopped by the community, the Mayor Riordan, and councilman Alatorre. Now we still have a community but the Mayor and a Councilman have sold their souls to the highest bidder in order to benefit themselves.

AND if we move all the INJUNS off the land that has oil and minerals on it off to reservations (where we, the GREAT WHITES can take better care of them, and keep better track), then that's an upgrade, too. Right???

AND if we move all the residents of the San Fernando Valley out of Los Angeles and into the high desert, then traffic would be much better for all the rest of us.

I say yes. UPgrade the SFV.

The Autry people are getting some very very bad advice on the "image front if they believe that just by swaying and schmoozing the politicians that rule this arena, they'll end up looking good in the end.

This is the type of victory that can smear their reputation long after these particular weak-willed politician have moved on to other jobs. Gene's reputation is the one that will end up "red-nosed" in the end. Communities have long institutional memories, and even with all their money, they can't keep this from being a permanent stain.

Obviously, Jackie doesn't subscibe to Gene's old "Cowboy Code," which included:

1. The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage.

2. He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him.

3. He must always tell the truth.

STRIKE THREE, Jackie! All the "Black Barts" of the old west couldn't have done as much damage to the Autry legacy as your "victory" over the Northeast communities of L.A. will.

9:24: don't know what you're talking about in the first paragraph, but as for moving residents of the SFV to the High Desert: No, they're sick of all the gangbangers from SLA moving in as it is.

BUT I'm all for charging SFV people who drive into metro LA/ South of Mulholland, to work for a "CONGESTION TAX" like they do in London -- they create most of our smog, congestion and decrease in quality of life yet bitch and whine about contributing to the subway.

That Valley Rag "Daily News' ran a recent editorial about how the "Vals" were being unfairly taxed to pay for the westside/Hollywood metro being planned. Boo, hoo.

Its YOU hicks from the sticks coming in in your SUV's (by the way, that's a second tax we should hit them with if we copy London: an extra fee for gas guzzlers) are the REASON every canyon road is clogged morning and night. And why our local streets are too, from Pico/Olympic to Santa Monica to Sunset...

Why don't you create your own businesses and stay on your side? Without the SVF commuters our traffic problems would be solved.

So, make that a modest $2000/yr Congestion TAX permit to drive in (to go up annually if this doesn't help) PLUS $800 gas guzzler tax. (To keep the rates similar to London.)

AND then we'll install license plate readers to make sure you only drive into the city on alternate days, to force you to carpool.
