Fishwrap debases women...So what's new?
Times masthead - click to enlarge
After years of bumbling online efforts, the lads on Spring Street (and the ones who count are all lads these days---see above) have stumbled on the sole stupid trait that they can absorb from the blogosphere: how to be more vulgar. They'll be publishing sex-club ads soon, by order of their new prophet, owner Sam Zell.
And when it comes to sexism at the top, Sam Zell is Dov Charney on Viagra. In an avalanche of late-middle-aged adolescence, the local blogosphere yesterday convulsed over the fact that the Times' sexist new publisher likes not women, not intelligence, not culture, but...you know.
Who doesn't like...you know? Actually, it's been obvious for some time that David Hiller does not favor it, for instance. Or have you taken a look at the masthead (above) lately?
Readers of every stripe will find whatever things they like in both blog and print; and if the Times wants to pander to certain tastes, then that's their business choice. But also, it should be obvious: if you value women in your life, you should not concommittantly de-valuate them.
Here's an alternative, radical tip to men who like you-know-what: create a safe yet dynamic environment for women in your own life---even stay away from words that devaluate women---and, hey, maybe you won't need those gentlemen's club ads to have a fulfilling life. Both print and blogosphere alike can be a more positive influence not by pandering to their pimpliest men, but by showing more respect for real women.

devaluate? try not to devalue the English language.
Joseph F. Mailander said:
I considered both, but ultimately preferred devaluate, because it better complements the noun: devaluation.
And it's in my Webster's.
Beyond that, I'm always flattered to have readers who read closely enough to hope for errors!
Indeed a pleasure to respond.

What a shock, Joe is writing a post critical of the Los Angeles Times.
Joe is like the rejected high-school kid, Joe will be crying about not being chosen as prom date for the next twenty years.
Hey Joe, just like back in high-school you were once again rejected, but this time by the Los Angeles Times (fishwrap of record), lick your wounds, quit crying and move on.
You're like a scratched 33-LP vinyl record, repeating and repeating the same verse.

In case you have not been following the recent killing of blacks by mexican gang members, in the Monrovia and Duarte area. Here is the lastest attempted murder by mexican gang members. Duarte and Monrovia is now a kill-zone for blacks because of mexican gangs. This is why we need to have mass deportaions of the illegal mexicans, which only add to the gang problem. California will soon be like Tijuana, if we do not start enforcing immigration laws. I wonder if whites were being killed, if more would be done?

Man wounded in shooting
Article Launched: 02/09/2008 12:12:45 AM PST
DUARTE - A man was wounded in a possibly gang-related shooting Friday in a residential neighborhood, officials said. The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Bloomdale Street, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Mark Flores. The victim was described as a black man about 25 years old, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Jeff Myers. The wounded man was sitting on the curb when rescuers arrived, Myers said, and the injury did not appear to be life-threatening.
Two Latino men with shaved heads were spotted running from the location, Flores said. One of them was detained late Friday, Flores said, although it was not immediately clear whether he was involved in the shooting. Officials responded to a call reporting five to six shots fired when they discovered the wounded man.
The sheriff's Homicide Bureau is helping the sheriff's Temple Station with the case, Flores added. "We are investigating this thing with everything we have," he said.

Anony-guy, sorry, but if you're going to make up stuff, at least you could make up something interesting.
As it happens, I had a great time in high school, and still do with my old high school chums. And I haven't ever even applied for a journalism job in my life, so I sure haven't been rejected from one.
And while I like having a sensitive side, I wouldn't ever waste it crying over something as banal as a job.
So maybe it's you who needs to move on? The paper generally appreciates its critics, as long as they don't make things up. So it is with me too.

1:03 you are a shameless nitwit who has a fascination and sick phobia of dealing with all things Mexican or Mexican American.
If an obsolete satellite fell from the heavens it would be you who would report that it was caused by Mexicans or Mexican Americans.
It was you, you creep, that started the posting up and hysterics when the fine officer from the SWAT squad was killed in the line of duty by a native born, mentally unstable young man of Salvadorean heritage, not Mexican, Mexican American or illegal.
It was from your mouth that the poison and vitriol started spewing forth racist epithets about gang bangers and Mexicans and illegal aliens, it was from your stinky mouth that gushed slime and pollution about politicians and there ethnicity like some pin head KKK cheer leader.
Now you post up this new slander about the gang troubles in Monrovia and Duarte and typically lay the blame at the feet of all Mexican Americans and or Mexicans.
You seem to think that it is another example of the fictitious "ethnic cleansing" label that for some reason focus's entirely on your dim witted view that it's not only gangsters but all Mexican Americans that are targeting "Blacks" in this latest episode of gang and ethnic violence.
Well let me tell you anonymouse, it's a two sided tragedy that is occurring in the Monrovia area, there is enough blame to go around everywhere.
This tragic situation has hit close to home for me and one of my sons good friends from grammar school who lost a 16 year old daughter last week. She was visiting her father in Monrovia (she lived with her mom in Alhambra), and was shot to death by some Black gangsters as she was innocently walking down the street with a girlfriend.
This innocent girl was a good student and by the way, a native born Los Angeleno as is her father.
Nobody in the family is blaming all Black People and in fact they have many Black friends going back to grammar school in Highland Park.
The family only hopes that this mindless violence is stopped before more innocent victims are harmed.
But it's idiots like you that always fall back on anonymity and who try to inflame a situation to satisfy some sick agenda. You tried the same tactic when you started yelling about Mexicans and illegal alien gang bangers when that unfortunate SWAT officer was killed in the line of duty.
I can't speak for the family of that officer but I would be willing to bet that they would be disgusted by the likes of you and your ilk who use a tragic situation for there own titillation and hate mongering.
Shame on you, you creep!

Don Quackers,
I really don't give a shit about your opinion. The facts speak for themselves; the mexican gangs are killing blacks in Monrovia and Duarte, just like they did in the Florence area of Los Angeles. Do you remember that the Feds arrested many Florencia-13 mexican gang members for deliberately killing innocent blacks? Just because you are a mexican cholo apologist does not change the fact that most gang members are mexican.
If you lived in a quite area like Monrovia where the scum-bag cholos are killing innocent people you would NOT be making excuses for these socio-pathic animals. I live in the city of Monrovia and know the history of the city and the gangs better than you, so keep squawking about how the illegal aliens are making our city better, but anybody around Los Angels can point to many things that are worst because of the illegal immigrants from mexico.

For Don Quacker aka cholo sympathizer and illegal alien apologist.
The words of Los Angeles Times reporter, Sam Quinones, who is Latino.
http://www.knowgangs.com/news/oct07/1801.php
On Tuesday, the U.S. attorney's office announced a sweeping indictment against more than 60 members of Florencia 13, accusing the Latino gang of waging a violent campaign to drive out African American rivals. Once primarily black, the working class community of 60,000 today is mostly Latino.

1:03 PM aka Monrovia resident,
At Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the Tunneling Electron Microscope. This microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Now, if I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your steaming heaps of comments here nor on your inanely vapid and vacuous Barf blog. Who can even measure the effects of the Mexican haters whose bellies are bloated, leech-like from their Stop The Mexicans from Coming In Wars and their highly lucrative modern-day “intractable conflicts. Sure thing, 1:03 PM You're about as subtle as Vladimir Lenin, and as transparent.

This is pretty funny coming from one of the Blogging Burros. This blog is gossip and innuendo central.
We read lots about "shady this" and "shady that", but the Blogging Burros don't really investigate anything. Or provide any proof, just wild innuenedo from the comfort of their kitchen table.

Again, I'd rather not you lie. If I'm not certain about a fact, I call media relations. If I'm posting a rumor, I identify it as a rumor.
I don't shy away from rumors because this City doesn't have a tabloid and needs one. Nobody would read us if rumors had too inconsistent a track record with rumor.

I think women have the most potential to be the most powerful gender, but we have in recent centuries been demeaned to think we are the weaker sex. Peoplepowergranny.blogspot.com addresses this issue, and asks you to vote in my poll on which sex is most powerful. Mind you, I didn't say stronger.
