Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

The Planning Department is opposed to it, but it looks like a real estate development in Downtown LA will go forward. Tuesday Councilman Jose Huizar will introduce a motion for the Council to take jurisdiction and overturn the Zoning Administrator's denial of the AMP Lofts in the Downtown Arts District. I am sure there is no connection that the devloper - David Seewack - has donated at least $2,000.00 to Huizar's campaigns.

This is a funny headline in the local fishwrap of record: "Villaraigosa gives pep talk to Clinton troops." Ha ha. Well she's going to lose in New Hampshire. Hillary - if you want to win, send Antonio home. Well, on second thought - with the Mayor out campaigning for Mrs. Clinton and Garcetti shilling for Barack - Wendy Greuel has been serving as acting mayor and that can't be a bad thing.

Talk about Mansionization! The Villaraigosa confidante, controversial developer and favorite whipping boy of the CD 14 cut and paste crew is building an 18,700 square foot home in Whittier, on the street where he grew up. Though construction has taken 12 months and is expected to take another year, neighbors say that Richard has at least been nice enough to clean up the mess he makes in the neighborhood.

Ignoring market realities, the CRA and Department of Planning are seeking to protect old, rusty "industrial" land Downtown from being developed into much needed housing. This despite the fact that there is little demand for industrial property these days due to changing realities of the market. The City is doing this under the guise of "creating and protecting jobs." The better way to do that is to remove some of the onerous regulatory and tax restrictions that make Los Angeles one of the worst cities to do business in and drives away jobs to other cities on a daily basis.

Is Dr. Phil McGraw becoming the white version of Jesse Jackson?

Did anyone get the ludicrous email from David Phelps from DPSFV about Bob Blumenfield?

There was David, whining about how Blumenfield was sending "BEWARE" emails to try and stack the Valley Dems for their upcoming endorsement.

Come on David, don't you even pretend that you've never done such a thing before. You oughta be ashamed of yourself.

What Bob did is no different than what you and your Stuart cohorts have done before.

I hope Bob Blumenfield gets the endorsement now AND wins the stupid race.

When the tables are turned - it doesn't feel so good, huh, big boy?

Ha Ha

You and your friends are a bunch of losers.

Sorry, David was sending the BEWARE emails about Bob.

Bob's emails were asking Dem club members to get people to come to vote for him.

VERY common under normal circumstances. Just not when your buddy Stuart's election is on the line. Again. Yawn yawn.

I wonder how many of the New Hampshire voters read Mayor sam's blog? I am sure many voters read about the mechista mayor and send hell no to anybody who supports the pandering to mexicans.

Why do you think Richardson is doing so badly? It's because American voters are sick and tired of the illegal aliens and no way will elect any mexican to be president.

The republican candidates need to focus more on the problem mexicans are causing in this country.

We need more people across this country to learn about all our corrupt mexican politicians in California. Never will we elect a mexican to the office of president.

As long as Huckabee seems soft on the mexican illegal aliens he will flounder and lose. Our next republican president has to show he will be tough on the problem of illegal mexicans. How many gang members here in Los Angeles and S. calif are illegal mexicans. We need president who will build our border fences and add thousands of ICE/INS agents to deport the illegal mexicans.

Well, if you load on illegal Mexican onto one blogging burro and shoot off a pistol next to the burros' ears, you will be rid of at least a few. Just make sure you start close enough to the border so they don't need a map or have to stop for directions. Otherwise they might end up in New Hampshire and surprise that Midget Mayor, and increase the Mexican population of the granite state by some 40%. And aren't some of the blogging burros Hispanic, making that like 50%? No that would not be good at all, because people in New Hampshire don't know what to do with even that one Mexican Mayor, they'd think this is an illegal invasion and start supporting McCain instead.

The CNN anchors waiting for polls to open and the results, sitting at a diner for hours, showing us the plate special of the granite state: giant platter of greasy fries smothered in gravy and topped with gobs of cheese, maybe then with sausage and more. It clogs my arteries to look at it.

That tells you what kind of candidate they'll vote for: more a McCain than pretty Romney (whose wife has a very big head and isn't pretty but looks snobby) or Edwards (whose wife gets chubbier and older looking as her cancer treatment progresses, poor thing, but she's more "one of them"). Huckabee would eat the stuff and like it. Hillary is too used to fine cuisine to eat the stuff, but Bill would.

That's it: the problem is, Bill's lost weight and doesn't pig out on McDonald's Big Macs anymore, so he seems "leaner and meaner" to some, like Marc Cooper said in the Weekly. Maybe Hillary should make Bill get fat again and eat greasy stuff in diners with the people. Like he used to.

I have to say its been decades since we've had a candidate that gives such inspirational speeches like Obama. C'mon listen to him and he makes you want to get up and do something. YOu listen to the other old ones and you want to fall asleep. I was never that interested in these races but Obama has me and so many others wanting to volunteer at this office on Wilshire. We decided to just do it and at least say we do want a change.

"Well shut my mouth Jethro" I'm reading along and see a Don Quixote comment (January 07, 2008 10:38 PM), the heart starts accelerating, imposters have used your nom de plume, but reading a little further I recognize it indeed is you Carnal! Welcome To Mayor Sam's. You see ladies and gentlemen, Don Quixote is often imitated but never duplicateded. This rascally Oxford Don Imeritus-Don Quixote is an amazing mind and friend!

PS. Mayor Sam, the Bank Heist pics posted yesterday brought back memories as a real young kid, we'd walk up Tujunga Ave. from Ventura Blvd. all the way up to NoHo park. Or sprint up Vineland Ave. to North Weddington Park. I remember seeing and meeting Sgt. Demetrio Lopez Garcia (Henry Calvin) of television's Zorro fame, and TV''s own Chief Dan Matthews (Broderick Crawford) of The Highway Patrol series at RATHBUNS on Lankershim and Chandler, it was a pretty and trendy department store (for those times) in the late fifties. Rathbuns was on the property between the North Hollywood Post Office and the Bank Building at Weddington. Thanx Bro!

Viva Don Quixote indeed, someone rubbed Aladdin’s lamp and I’ve been released from my confines. First thing I read here is Santa Monica Sally and Santiago’s beautiful and educational treatise on the Federal Reserve and how our countries riches and commerce are controlled by the accrual method of accounting delivered to us by the nebulous Federal Reserve Banking system. Used to be we depended on our gold reserves in Fort Knox until Nixon’s boys decided paper was worth more than gold.

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures reached a record high on Tuesday, climbing as high as $878.80 an ounce to surpass a 1980 top. Spot gold also reached a record. The gains for gold come as the dollar has dropped in response to economic data suggesting the U.S. is heading toward, or in, a recession. Gold futures recently were up $13.40 to $875.40 an ounce

The facts about demand for crude staying strong in India, China, and the US are catching up to the market. So are concerns about unstable governments in Africa, the Middle East, and South America. The percentage of oil staying within oil producing countries to build their own infrastructures is also being factored into prices. According to Bloomberg "options to buy oil for $200 on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 10-fold in the past two months to 5,533 contracts, a record increase for any similar period." These bets are not being made by under-educated retail investors. They are being made by professional traders who see large profits in putting money down that oil hits $200 by year-end.

Is there any one in CD14 who is suprised at this. Huizar will do the same with Elephant Hill and the Southwest Museum. I know Huizar can be bought, but I am sure it is more than the $2K identified in the campaigns.

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):

So, the candidate that His Nibbs is backing is publicly saying that she’ll wait until “February 5th on the West Coast to decide” whether or not to drop out of pursuing the Democratic nomination. (Looks thoughtful) Now why is she waiting until February 5th? Could it possibly be that she’s really and truly banking on the ability of His Nibbs to take a machete to the intellectual thicket of the general populace and deliver a solid win for her. (Mutters) What a brilliant decision that will turn out to be, savvy?

(Smiles) Ah, but His Nibbs does not work alone in guaranteeing a state-wide victory. We’ve learned from our brethren in the North that not all the hatches are safely fastened, and a turn in the tide is afoot. It appears that there are several sub issues that put a stain upon the bib-and-tucker of several who would be the Twister Of Arms. (Looks skeptical) I don’t think he’ll pull it off. That certain rudderless ship has in fact become….a rudderless ship as we have earlier correctly predicted given our stellar track record of correct predictions regarding certain Presidential candidates, savvy?

(Peers closely at sots) Unless I miss my guess, the timing of such minor things as Proposition “S” and Term Limit Extension may in fact be fatal to that particular juggernaut, for when riled the populace can in fact be, if you will, a rather nasty ocean, savvy?

(Pulls compass from pocket and checks heading) Helmsman, bear us into the wind for a course to the east, south of the CQ and towards the western hills for THAT is where we shall find other pirates friendly to the opposition cause. (Winks) Plus the eats and drinks will be choice, savvy?

To the angry racist at 2:28 AM
Richardson, Mexican American, called the National Guard to his NM border. Hurricane Katrina hit, preempted that action, Federal resources went to hurricane relief, despite Richardson's efforts. It's astonishingly racist to blame every Mexican for the immigration fiasco. Obviously, you don't have the facts.

The AMP Lofts in the Downtown Arts District should be approved, the "industrial" district of downtown Los Angeles died many years ago. The whole area around the Amp lofts is surrounded by other loft/housing projects.

No large industry is going to move into the middle of a large city and pay the high cost for land use or have large trucks navigating small crowded streets. Say good-bye to an industrial downtown Los Angeles of yester-year.

Huizar is right to approve the AMP Lofts project, the new housing boom is what will help revitalize downtown. Los Angeles needs to change from an industrial downtown to an entertainment downtown.

We need more residents with money to move into the downtown Los Angeles are, this gentrification will help lower the crime rate and pressure change to an area in desperate need of revitalization.

It's true but please let me explain!

We were at Echo Park feeding the ducks and the old senile fool kept asking me to guess his age.
I finally got tired of his persistence and said to him that I could guess his age if he took down his duckshit stained pants and stuck four dedo's (fingers) up his ass.

The old fool did just that and then again asked me how old he was.

I replied "your 87 years old"!

He then asked, "how could you guess my age by me putting four fingers up my ass"?

I replied "you told me yesterday"!

Every CM from 14 has been trying to 'revitalize' downtown for more than 30 years. Still hasnt happened. All the people who went there to buy business and purchase items wont go back to down town unless it is to buy a specific thing; jewelery, furniture, etc. or invest in lofts and "flip" the property.

Every CD has made a lot of money allowing developers to take properties for 'redevelopment" and the only thing they have done is move the homeless one or two blocks closer to the river and have a haven for the illegals to have a social afternoon shopping in their city "Tiajuana North".

The amount of new devolopment in the downtown are is like no other before. Downtown Los Angels is in the process of making a truly revolutionary change. Yes some poor will be displaced but in the end Los Angeles needs more residents with money to push the revitalization of downtown. Many young professional are now moving into the downtown area in numbers not seen before. I have not seen a change in Los Angeles in the fifty years I have known Los Angeles as an adult.

I own a a few apartment buildings around the downtown area and welcome this attempt to change the landscape of downtown. And the people moving into my vacant units is now younger and professional.

The only problem might be a recession in our national economy, no other CM in 14 has seen this type of investment in the downtown area. I will be remodeling my building soon to keep up with the new housing available downtown.

Hicks in the sticks and politics don't mix. Like in Iowa and New Hampshire. Who cares what they think because they have no urban issues or worries, they live in a different world. Their biggest problem is being fat from greasy food and if it weren't for shoveling snow and s-t from their brains they'd have no exercise at all. No wonder all the smartest candidates are already out, and the one with big ears who says nothing, and the religious simpletons are the big winners. Hillary and Rudy, the smartest ones left in their parties, both from New York, will do better in Cal and New York.

We really can't be run by hicks from the sticks like the others -- they won't understand our issues and will keep stiffing us with fed funds in favor of hillbillies.

Only exception so far: McCain is polling very well with the under 30 crowd despite being the oldest, because they like his anti- establishment, independent spirit. And he's very conservative on the war, immigration, and experience -- just not the experience of the status quo.

QUOTED FROM STORY ABOVE: "I am sure there is no connection that the devloper - David Seewack - has donated at least $2,000.00 to Huizar's campaigns."

David Seewack actually hosted a fundraiser party where he handed much more than $2000.00 from so called campaign supporters. He did the same thing before that with the Mayor's campaign. Rumor has it that he paid people cash to make these donations. Just rumors? Skating?
