Police Protective League to Taxpayers: Screw You

The Police Protective League has decided to join with and not fight the Mayor in efforts to stick it to the taxpayers and support the phone tax increase. A whopping $250,000 donation is coming to the Mayor's Yes on S campaign from the union. Wonder what kind of backslapping secured this support?

There was a time when the League was one of the no-nonsense public employee unions in Los Angeles back in the day when our favorite former motorcycle cop turned Clowncilman ran the show. But hey - he's descended into liberalism himself so why bother. Maybe Mayor Sam isn't going to be so likely to support the PPL in their fight against the Police Commissions mandate for certain officers to turn over financial records or their battle with Bitter Bernie on work schedules.

"The head of Los Angeles Police Protective League said the tax revenue is needed to preserve Villaraigosa's plan for adding 1,000 police officers by 2010."

What happened to the increase trash fee?

Angelenos thought this money was for public safety or was it spent on something else other that what is was intended for?

Were Angelenos deceived?

Were Angelenos deceived? Are Parke Skelton and Antonio liars?

Yes and Yes. These two are doing to the whole city what they did to CD14. Just tell the public what they want to hear - they're too stupid to realize the deception until it's too late. And big money always trumps the truth.

Wasn't it L. Ron Hubbard who said
"THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CONTROL PEOPLE IS TO LIE TO THEM. You can write that down in your book in great big letters. The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them."
- L. Ron Hubbard, "Off the Time Track," lecture of June 1952, excerpted in JOURNAL OF SCIENTOLOGY issue 18-G, reprinted in TECHNICAL VOLUMES OF DIANETICS & SCIENTOLOGY, vol. 1, p. 418

Very bad idea from PPL. This has become one of the most political issues yet. Rumor has it PPL was told either help Mayor or public safety will be the first dept. to get cuts. That's how Antonio will use scare tactics to lie to the people. I have a feeling people aren't as stupid as Antonio and e-mails flying telling everyone not to believe the Mayor's BS.

Are Parke and Antonio closet Scientologists?

From xenu.net website:

"If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace."
- L. Ron Hubbard, Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 15 August 1960, Dept. of Govt. Affairs

Seems like it is right out of the Parke Skleton campaign playbook and Antonio's MO.

I understand where the police and Zine are coming from. The city has depended upon this money for years. Now it will be taken away from them. If they were to lose this money, they would have to cut services to make up for the loss. They need this money.

The only thing that bothers me is the way the City is selling this new tax. It's not a tax reduction. It's a new tax to take the place of one which will be legally gone soon. They've known for a few years that they will lose this money. Most people won't read what the tax is really about and they'll vote for it thinking they will be saving money. I think we may have to vote for it just because I don't know how we can balance the budget without it. We'd probably have to cut some services.

The police union is like any other civil service employee union. They look out for themselves first and don't care about everybody else.

The UTLA (Teachers Union), DWP workers union and police officers union will help bankrupt the city of Los Angeles. The city and civil service employee retirement packages are the biggest cost to any city and state.

Why does the Los Angeles Police Protective League's support of more taxes for their benefit surprise anyone.

Look at how much money the LAPD is over-spending on their fancy new building. Most people working in private industry don't work in such nice buildings. I have to work in a crappy building, which is just made of pre-formed concrete walls. And our cubicles are just cheap carpet covered cardboard. And I sure as hell don't have the retirement plan a DWP or LAPD office employee has.

937=Not Trujillo. Why does eveyone have to be Trujillo. Couldn't it be Zine? The way it is tempered, sounds like it could have come from him based on his initial opposition. Not that I have any idea, one way or the other. But I don't think this screams Trujillo.

I'm 9:37. I'm not Zine or Trujillo. I'm a regular Joe citizen. I don't work for the City or any politician. I generally support Zine because he uses common sense when he makes motions or votes. He kisses some Antonio butt but not much.

Again, I just don't like the City lying about the tax. I don't like their spin job. It's insulting to call it a tax "reduction" when it would be a new tax to replace one the city just lost.

I'm not for more taxes but we're talking about a lot of money. That big of a chunk taken out of the budget will cause problems. While there is a lot of fat in the budget, it will be tough to trim more because of unions, deals in progress, new fire/police stations and animal shelters. There was bond money for the new shelters but no money set aside for all the new employees they will need.

HELLOOOOO it was the city council that is wasting the millions in overages of the new Parker Center. Its wayyyyy over budget and you can blame Laura Chick N Shit and city council for sitting on their asses while construction fees went up and they did nothing to move along. No way is that LAPD's fault.

No, it's Trujillo. Its got the classic faux conservative toss away that winds to an aw-shucks we're going to have to support the mayor end. Then followed up by subsequent posts denying he's Trujillo and pinning the blame on anyone from Bob Hertzberg to Jay Leno to Captain Jack.

Once Laura started getting the budget for the new Parker Center why didn't she question it? Could it be the developer. you know the one that has been sued tons of times and gives tons of campaign donations had something to do with those millions increased? someone wasn't minding the store or should I say our tax dollars

Zine conservative on water usage? LOL

The Times outed him this summer as the biggest waster on the Council or the Mayor's office -- he lives in the West Valley and has lush green lawns and plantings which need lots of water -- subsidized by US on the ciy side, since the Valley needs a break because it's so hot. They should use drought- resistant plantings not waste water.

What was Zine's reason? That as a public official he has to set a good example. Exactly, Zine.

Meanwhile his support for the newly expanded Westfield Mall out there makes it the biggest in the region, and he turned the last remianing large open land into 2,500 unit condos a couple of years ago over community opposition. But now that he's gotten his...

(Only bigger dummy in the city was Rocky and his wife who'd forgotten to pay their water bill at all).

The Times has a piece about the Supes race today: They control a budget of $$$22 billion (4X the city's) by only 5 people who "rule" forever and like the pope, pretty much for life or until they choose to retire. And no one even knows their names or how they spend the money. They spend a LOT of it on social services, where there's doubtless a lot of waste.

They compare Bernie to Ridley-Thomas, wish there were a third choice.

Well remember that the next time we are asked to expand the supervisors to 9 seats. No, no cried the Republicans. We don't need MORE government. Because they like it just fine the way it is with just 5 people controlling everything.

The average IQ is only 100.
