County Labor Chief Maria Elena Durazo to support Obama

HOY!!!
We have a split in the making between Mayor Villaraigosa and County Labor Federation Chief Maria Elena Durazo, or do we??
According to the Los Angeles Times blog, Durazo will announce her support for Barack Obama. This runs counter to the support for Hillary by long time friend and conrade Mayor Villaraigosa.
This development can cause one to opine that a rift between labor and the Clinton Campaign is now carrying over to California from Nevada. This coming on top of the Obama endorsement by the Las Vegas Chapter of SEIU and lawsuit by Clinton supporters to limit caucus sites available for union members.
One can also say that the Villaraigosa/Durazo axis is taking no chances in maintaining contacts and the "REVENUE STREAMS" of tax dollars into Los Angeles County for union supported projects.
But if Durazo were to provide thousands of union foot soldiers for the Obama Campaign, then we can very well be seeing a realignment in the local political landscape........by latinas???
This will get interesting.....

From Rick Orlov's blog,

Sen. Barack Obama has picked up some endorsements from a number of local Latino officials to try to bolster his support heading into the Feb. 5 primary election.

State Sen. Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, and former state Sen. Martha Escutia announced their support of the Illinois Senator following the withdrawl of New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson from the race.

The two are at odds with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton in the election. Cedillo has been on opposite sides of the mayor in the past, having endorsed former Mayor James Hahn in the 2005 election.

Cedillo is among the most prominent Latino leaders in the state, primarily for his continued efforts pushing legislation that would provide drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.

Supervisor Gloria Molina, who also had backed Richardson, has yet to announce who she will now support for president.

From Gloria Romero,

For some female elected officials, endorsing Obama over Clinton can seem an act of betrayal. They want to see Clinton break the glass ceiling. California state Sen. Gloria Romero said she wore an Obama button on the floor of the Assembly last week and got a withering look from another female lawmaker.

"She came up to me and said, 'You've got to be kidding.' " Romero recalled. "She was shocked that I'd gone with Obama

It's not about who supports whom...

It's about who controls the polls, y'all...simply on the realest, dough.

Didn't they have those Diebold machines in New Hampshire? Those polls sure were inaccurate compared to those machines.

In LA it's a lot more simple. No machines, so it's a lot easier!

1) Canvas neighborhood and collect as many absentee ballots as possible.

2) Fill in ballot with "Clinton", "Yes on S" and anything else that helps Antonio.

3) Have a "house party" with a lot of busses on hand.

4) Load people on busses.

5) Drop off at polls.

6) Tell people watching polls not to look.

AND REMEMBER...NEVER require identification. WHY SHOULD SOMEONE HAVE TO PROVE WHO THEY ARE TO VOTE?

Zuma,

that is predicated on the union foot soldiers provided by the local under the control of the county federation. If the latinas like Durazo, Romero, Escutia, Molina and others are coming out against Clinton /Villar? Then we will have some fun on Feb. 4.

If Cedillo, the most blatantly pro- illegals Hispanic politician, and IF (this is a maybe) Durazo and her previously militant org back Obama, that's a big plus for Hillary in my book.

Isn't it just last week that Durazo reminded her members that they can control local pols with their sheer numbers?

Seems like messy Democracy in action to me, hells bells these Mexican Americans are taking over it seems, and I wonder who's going to guide Mitt Romney around when he comes to So Cal to campaign? I heard it was going to be Sheriff Carona of the OC but he today handpicked his successor and retired at full pay so maybe it'll be??? Shit isn't there a white Republican man left in the house?

Rick Orlov's photo in Daily News must be from at least 20 years ago. He doesn't look anything like that photo. Journalists are some of the most egotistical people around. With the exception of zuma dogg, and those costumed clowns matt and hunt who have nothing to be egotistical about.

Only good thing about the MSM is that at least they hurl their barbs under their real names. Except the Op Eds!

Don't forget that one Latina, Lucille Roybal-Allard (if you can call her a Latina) is supporting Hillary.

This is about as empty an endorsement as getting a "real Roybal" endorsement from the grave. For more than 21 years now Lucille has added Roybal to her Allard name and for 21 years the community is still waiting for any sense of accomplishment. What a wasted congresional seat for our community, just like a wasted endorsement for Hillary.

1:33am GOOD ONE. Ohhhhh this election is going to be good. Latina politicans going after Hillary and Antonio. Romero, Escutia, Cedillo, the Hispanic Caucaus all endorsing Obama. People are sick of Hillary and pretending to be a victim and people in LA we all know are tired of a Mayor who hasn't done a thing in 2 years.

Glad to see that Maria Elena is supporting Obama. Hope this brings in some additional Latino and labor support. But the endorsement is a personal one by Maria Elena, not by the County Fed., which has said they will not be making an endorsement. Which means no official $$$ or precinct walkers, etc.

Red Spot, that was the goal in 1982,'87 and '01 when Gloria Molina defeated the "Old Boy Network" of Alatorre, Torres and Polanco in Assembly, City Council and County B of S races. One of the most amazing track records of political accomplishment in our Latino community - especially since Gloria was doing it all by herself - with Edward Roybal's help.

But Gloria dropped the ball. She never supported Hilda Solis when she ran for state assembly until she was a shoe in. She never supported Marta Escutia, Diane Martinez or Gloria Romero and Molina never helped the Sanchez sisters when they got into congress. The only people Gloria supported that were victorious were Mike Hernandez and Antonio Villaraigosa - I bet she's proud of that.

Oh, she did endorse Lucille as a payback for her dad but she always won with virtually no opposition. I guess Pasadena matrons have a way of scaring off the little barrio folk.

But mostly thanks to Gloria we have three bonehead men carrying the national Latino flag for us - Antonio, Fabian and Huizar. Talk about ehtical lapses!!

\NO TALK ABOUT BALLESS MEN WHO SHOULD ALL BE WEARING DRESSES
VILLARAIGOSA, HUIZAR, FABIAN, all mice not men. Wouldn't know what a "real man" was about if they tried. Shameful Latino politicans that have done nothing for their own people yet campaigned on empty promises.

My father is a REAL man - all 100% Mexican of himself, all real.

Never strayed on my mother, his kids never went hungry, all his kids were college educated - not bad for a former Marine who only reached the 6th grade. He was at all my little league and other sporting events, took me to countless Dodger games, and is the perfect grandfather to my children.

Not all our fathers are fabrications of Parke Skelton and the embodiment of our current leaders.

MARIA ELENA DURAZO: check her record, back to 1987 when she hijacked the Los Angles hotel union and converted it into a union for LATINO LABOR ONLY and to h*** with the rest (isn't that racism?). She infuses her LATINO LABOR ONLY and to h*** with the rest approach into all that she touches, including serving as national co-chair of Obama's campaign. The County Federation of Labor should remove her from office. If Obama is elected that would not be a problem for her since it would be no surprise to see her appointed to a post in his administration.
