Tuesday Hotsheet at 3 a.m.

Joseph Mailander a guy in laelsewhereemail

A rumor we heard: Sam Zell wants to buy the Daily News. Every single person's response: "Oh, no!"

Your Governor continues to flip-flop. Now he's for extending term limits.

In the middle of a State budget crisis where everyone's pleading poverty, the County supes will vote today on whether or not to give DA Steve Cooley a massive pay raise, says the Daily News.

Woman admits to unleashing dogs on IRS employee
. Any bets on who gets audited next year?

With all the cowabungas over the weekend, we sorta neglected the Downtown News, but they reported that the Historic Employment Overlay Zone (that's a facetious term for preserving industrial zoned land downtown) is actually being opposed by some developers, who want more units, and some pols, who want City Council to do the zoning, thank you.

Do you wonder what happened to fine LA fiction scribe Rodger Jacobs? He spent about a year in North Beach and then moved to Las Vegas, where he still is putting out terse dialogs and other short stories, at a blog called Carver's Dog. Enjoy.

Yesterday I put up a post and it later came to my attention that it contained a sentence or two that was originally requested to be off the record. My own notes confirmed this. Rather than fuss with the post, which didn't make much sense without the material (and maybe didn't even make much sense with it), I later took it down, and unfortunately was obliged to take whatever comments you made down along with the post. The post was almost all comprised of info that was over two years old, anyway. But I do apologize for lowering the high journalistic standards at this site that you come to expect here, which Zuma and I work so hard to maintain.

Anyway, the money link on the post was this one, to S. David Cobb's scratched donations from 2004, which are certainly a matter of public record. Fair enough? Did he get a refund or something?

you're linking yourself with zuma's "high standards?" yikes.

You forgot to mention another whopper in L A Times that has gone under the radar this past year: the Board of the Community College system (you know, the wasteful group who wasted $2.2 bill in approved bonds for building brick and mortar building stuff, without building a think and is coming back to a voting booth near you soon) voted unanimously -- 17 zip -- to give illegals the same free tuition breaks legal residents get. The temp Pres's permanent nomination by the Dems and Arnold was pulled by the Republicans who say this free tuition is only luring more illegals.

LOL

I wonder what Santiago and Don Quixote would do to solve the budget crisis in California.

I can hardly wait for another round of great posts by Santiago and Don Quixote. I awoke very early this morning, hoping to read those great comments by Santiago and Don Quixote. I will be sitting by my computer awaiting for their first round of comments.

I thought JM was innocuous. Now I know he's freaking nuts. Neither of these bozos know the slightest thing about being a journalist.

Hey where has Jeff Carr been? He's getting paid over $100,000 yet with all the talk of the gang problem which we all know he had nothing to do with, where's he been? Cops think he's an idiot and knows nothing about the gang problem and he has no qualifications.

.....The time has come for Jeff Carr, the city's new gang czar, to step on the public stage and declare what he's going to do about the gang problem, how he's going to call upon civic, government and community resources to restore the basic civil liberties of the thousands of people whose lives are held hostage by gangsters.

By the way JM the list of contributions and clients of Mr. Cobb and GSG Ltd. still shows nothing but chump change to politicians. $250 to the Mayor Tony V wouldn't get one a street cleaning favor.
What interested me were the clients of GSG Ltd. especially "United Taxi Cabs".

I would bet it has something to do with the airport and the ridiculous situation where the light rail trains and or subway service is non existent at LAX or Ontario.
The idea that the light rail transit along side the 105 freeway stops a half a mile from LAX is a joke, Go to any major city in Europe or Asia and the subway, trains, or monorail goes right into the airport or Train station.

JM just took a swipe at Higby in that comment. Wonder if the fatboy will continue to make such fawning statements about (excuse me while I crap my pants. okay better now) Mailander's supposed "genius."

Shoot, I just pissed my pants.

Your are correct all the way. Jeff Carr is a follower not a leader.
Based on his lack of performance he has no ideas.

Just like AV. Although AV tries to make you think he has ideas.

How about a new "Stay In School" campaign. But we need a new face, that todays kids can relate to, as opposed to bringing back Fernando Valenzuela. I can suggest Britney Spears to be its new face. In reprising the mantra, I envision Britney in go-go boots, silk evening gloves, hot pants and with a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader vest struting in the 15 sec. commercial saying those magical words and pregnant too!?

OK, here it is... I am layed out in a freaking leg cast and bored to death, and to top it, I can't mix alcohol with my medicine for a while. After breaking my leg in Mittenwald, while skiing, the pain and sudden confinement is too much "crap" for me to bear with out my Manhattan's or Long Island Tea's that I enjoy before noon. Cut me some slck boys, I feel being held hostage too.

REad who is campaigning for Hillary. AV and Henry Cisneros two cheating, lying Latino men who are the worst role models for our youth. Hillary's people are trying to divide races and Obama is trying to resolve. Good for Cedillo endorsing Obama.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/15/us/politics/15hispanic.html?_r=2&hp&oref=login&oref=slogin

LAS VEGAS — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has eaten beef tacos in East Los Angeles and sat on the living room couch of a working-class family in a largely Hispanic neighborhood here for 30 televised minutes. At a rally of the culinary workers’ union in the shadows of the Strip here one night, Senator Barack Obama pumped his fist and chanted with the crowd, “¡Sí, se puede; sí, se puede; sí, se puede!” or, “Yes, we can!”
..It arises as Mrs. Clinton sought to tamp down reaction from Obama supporters to remarks she had made about the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Mr. Obama confronts a history of often uneasy and competitive relations between blacks and Hispanics, particularly as they have jockeyed for influence in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. “Many Latinos are not ready for a person of color,” Natasha Carrillo, 20, of East Los Angeles, said. “I don’t think many Latinos will vote for Obama. There’s always been tension in the black and Latino communities. There’s still that strong ethnic division. I helped organize citizenship drives, and those who I’ve talked to support Clinton.” Javier Perez, 30, a former marine, said older Hispanics like his grandmother tended to resist more the notion of supporting an African-American, a trend that he said was changing with younger Hispanics. “She just became a citizen five years ago,” Mr. Perez said. “Unfortunately, that will play a role in her vote. I do think race will play a part in her decision.”

Mrs. Clinton’s circle of advisers includes New Yorkers steeped in that history. On her first trip after her victory in New Hampshire, Mrs. Clinton flew here, where she was escorted on a tour by prominent Hispanic leaders, including Henry G. Cisneros, a former secretary of housing and urban development, on the “Juntos con Hillary, Una Vida Mejor” tour or “Together With Hillary, a Better Life.” From here, she flew to a Mexican-American enclave, the East Los Angeles neighborhood, to eat at King Taco, ordered in Spanish by Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, who has emerged as an important supporter.

This blog is fantastic !!!!!!!!

Don Quixote your ideas about joing forces with Tijuana are brilliant. Since we already have most of the city of Los Angeles looking like Tijuana why not join forces. That is brilliant, brilliant !!!!

Yes lets close 90% of all prisons and make all the crinal gang-bangers our military. I think that is brilliant give guns and badges to all the criminals in jail. The mexican mafia prison gang could be the new military generals. There would be immediate free distribution of drugs by the mexican drug cartels into the new California. You are brilliant !!!!!

Don Quixote for president of the new Republic !!!!

Tony you are just as funny and entertaining as Don Quixote and Santiago and Mustang Sally and Hiroshi, Prof Irwin Corey.

I almost think you are the same person, but nobody could be such a psycho to invent so many names and talk to themselves on this blog.

There is no way such a nut-case could exist, who needs and desires any attention.

Wasn't that family Antonio and Corina?

It’s 1979 and Jimmy Carter is on the campaign trail. His plan to spend the night with a Hispanic family in Los Angeles looks like a Cinco de Mayo photo op to 16-year-old Ricky and his friends, who just want to disco. One by one they step up to riff on the meaning of the sleep over. From Disco Bob to Kerry the Chinese valley dude, Rick Coca portrays them all, complete with song, dance and pithy cultural commentary.

Since you asked about my ideas for a budget fix for Calif this AM I thought I had listed them, and I guess you thought you read them, but Mr. JM has deleted my post as you have requested of him.

So unfortunately, or not depending on your opinion of the disappeared post, your post seems kind of strange.
JM also disapeared a couple of my posts yesterday that he at one time complimented me on, so maybe I'm persona non grata with Mr. JM quien sabe?
Your posts though Anonymouse/don culo, seem to be more appropriate to JM's philosophy of staying with the topic, so I guess I must revisit the old Talking Heads Album "Stop Making Sense" and blend in with the rest of the LA-Tijuana look alike's as you have described.

“Strike a Balance” - NO on 93.

This pet project, Proposition 93, is spearheaded by Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and Senator Don Perata because it will extend their time along with 40 other colleagues.

According to Steve Poizner the proposition has a CLAUSE that allows legislators to serve two decades. For example: if a senator has served 8 years in his/her current position. This same senator can be elected as an assembly member and allowed to serve 12 years under Proposition 93.
