Oh no...CM Wendy Greuel Thinks Neighborhood Council Should Pay For WALGREEN'S Cameras & NC Says "NO" To DWP Rate Hike (Like It Will Matter)

CM Wendy Greuel has her people at the NOHO Neighborhood Council, again, asking for money for street cameras, again. AT WALGREENS!!! [Insert outrage, here!]

Related Featured Comment: CM Garcetti got funding to put cameras in two "undisclosed" areas in Glassell Park and Atwater Village. Come to find out, the equipment set up was stolen before the cameras could be installed. They were trying to hide it. Are you kidding me?

The NC voted against the DWP rate increase. (Like it's gonna stop it.)

And DONE wants $500 from each council for the big Congress meeting.

SKID ROW HOMELESS GET TO SET UP TENTS ON SIDEWALKS, AGAIN -- LEGALLY! BUT THIS TIME...CITYWIDE!!! (And I think this will be good for business and residential growth. I'm sure Eli Broad's Grand Avenue Project are thrilled!) Because the new law of the land, is that you may now, once again, set up your tent encampment on the sidewalks of Downtown Los Angeles, California, as long as you are not blocking a doorway. This is a temporary measure the police will allow until hundreds of affordable housing units are built, which should take at least a couple years. (But I don't expect delays when it comes to Villaraigosa's LA City.) 790 KABC's Doug McIntyre added that Downtown CM Jan Perry is now o.k. with this because it will allow the homeless to dispurse into the sidewalk in-front of your house. (And now, I guess it will exapand Citywide -- since now that it is legal, more people will do it.) Um, I think Doug is against this ACLU negotiation with their former associate and current "pal" Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

AND DID YOU SEE THE COMMERCIAL WITH GOVERNOR ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER TELLING THE UNITED STATES THAT GOOD JOBS ARE AVAILABLE IN CALIFORNIA, AND PLEASE MOVE HERE. (Cheyah, right?!? How about simply begging them not to bug-out.)

[What do Mayor Sam readers think about these issues? Post a comment.)

Thanks to City Hall for putting the City Council English LIVE feed back on the lacity.org! (Even if ZD had to blow a gasket over it and make a couple phone calls.)

MORE TO COME ON THIS THREAD...

Mrs. Wendy Gruel needs to focus on TRAFFIC and leave the neighborhood council’s money alone.

The ITE numbers used to predict the generated car trips do not apply in Los Angeles or anywhere in CA. City Council should take the lead and adopt a best practice that will discontinue the ill practice of allowing the developer to conduct its own EIR as currently done.

The best practice shall include hiring well qualified engineers, with bonuses at the end of the year, who will conduct the EIR for any development in this city. This group of engineers shall keep the best interest of the constituents in mind, NOT the developer.

That is just the point. Do you think the Neighborhood Councils should go along with the Mayor and the City Clowncil? They care about themselves. They don't give a hoot about the citizens or the Neighborhood Councils.

The politics in this city is mainly concerned about the money transfers, contract kick back, and employing cronies, short and sweet.

Water, Power, Sanitation, Street Maintenance, etc. are all basic foundational resources. As the Mayor increases the costs of these basic services every secondary service will add to it and pass it on until our products are too expensive and we drive every employer out of L.A.

Lunch in LA could be had for under five bucks just last year now its ten. There used to be retail down town, now its just wholesale. Police work three 12-hour days, the rest of the week is overtime. DWP workers boast highest wages, 19 percent is overtime. Now the rest of the city is up 23 to 28 percent. So when do the rest of the citizens get their deserved raises? They just get the bills and higher costs.

Meanwhile the Mayor has all of his friends appointed to general manager and board positions and they get lifetime retirements and high salaries for doing nothing more than allowing mismanagement and unjustified rampant inflation go on in all these city departments.

Shouldn't there be a consequence rather than a reward for: failing to meet the terms of the consent decree? Reporters and innocent bystanders getting hit by a rubber bullets. Dog food added to the spagetti in the finest fire stations? A city attorney that can't tell legal from schmegal law and otherwise running up the cost of government?

What are you doing here Mayor V? This isn't some Bar exam that you can just stumble through... Huh?

I think the NCs are doing right. Say no! This is unacceptable. We aren't going to take it anymore. The Villar vision is wall eyed and the citizens are getting crossed.

ZD has a handle on it. The citizens have about had it and the NCs are speaking up for the citizens. Try this vision... The NCs and their neighbors live and vote here in L.A. The union members are in the new tracts scattered outside LA in ontario and lancaster. I wouldn't be skipping too lightly Mayor Villarmundo.

Since when does an advirosy board (NC)that is usually ignored use their paltry office fund account to pay for goods and services the Council office should be putting forth for the City Council to vote on? If they hold back on a few special event waivers, they would have had enough funds to pay for the cameras and the new sidewalks they are pointed at.
