RED SPOT INSTITUTE SPECIAL REPORT: The "FISH" that can halt "RUNAWAY GROWTH"
Lurking in the waters of the Sacramento River Delta is a "DIMUTED-SIZE FISH", that has the potential to take a "GREAT WHITE SHARK BITE" out of our "BUFFET OF GROWTH".
Developers, meet the "SACRAMENTO RIVER SMELT". In your haste to reaps the spoils from the "STAMPEDE TO A DENSER LOS ANGELES". You fail to take into consideration, the problem of "FINITE RESOURCES". After all, the issue of water has always been the bain of the "PRO-GROWTH" community.
Now with the decision of the Metropolitan Water District to cut back on water deliveries to Southern California by 30%. This to placate a court ruling affecting water intake and Smelt protection. Lets take a quick check of reality.
"WE LIVE IN A SEMI-DESERT!!"
A desert is defined as an area that gets less than 10 inches of rain a year. Los Angeles gets at its official rain gauge on the campus of USC, 14 inches. Further, the watershed around the Los Angeles Basin can only support a population of one million.
Thus in order to provide future material for the movie "CHINATOWN" and the book,"CADILLAC DESERT". We built "MONUMENTS TO ENGINEERING", Owens River Aqueduct, Colorado River Aqueduct, and the biggest, California Aqueduct. One grandiose project proposed by the late New Dealist, Councilman, and Supervisor Kenny Hahn, called for a series of canals stretching to the Pacific Northwest. Other schemes called for towing icebergs to our shores.
Now in the evolution of thought, in regards to living with other creatures, the bill is coming due. Our environmental community has succeeded in doing what common sense could not. We cannot continue on this rampant rate of growth without "CAPACITY GROWTH". Now with the likes of the Sierra Club and the Democratic Party, basically, one in the same. It will be of interest, how the cities political and environmental community respond to this brewing problem. After all, it is the Sierra Club that siffles discussion on the issue of illegal immigration and its effect on the environment. This is to placate their Democratic brethren.
Over population and development has push the Los Angeles region "Carry Capacity" to the limit. This principal of "CARRY CAPACITY" also includes our municipal infrastructure, ie. transportation, space, housing, services. We simply cannot take on any more growth spurts of population.
Pro growth or not, Los Angeles, like, Las Vegas and other Southwest cities. Can only grow so much before nature pulls us back from the edge of ruin, or will she ?

Many of the politicians Democrat or Republican couldn't care less about the Sierra Club. They lobby for their endorsements and then become sellouts.
Look at the million trees, proposed L.A. River developments, the proposed Power Plants?
Many of these same politicians support immigration, encourage the minority community to vote, and then they support legislation that gives everyone in these areas Asthma, Emphysema, increased Cholesterol, and Cancer due to landfills, railyards, powerplants that promote increased diesel and train emissions, etc.

A lot of people just join Sierra club for singles hikes with other enviros. These people usually need deodorant.

ur all missing the point. talk about illiterates and non comprehenders. theres a WATER CRISIS!!!
wake up and stop bitching about grammar for god's sake.
he makes a great point. the fish gets federal protection. stop taking the water!
they talk all day in chambers about the environment, and what they can do per department. here's what you can do:
stop building higher density accomodation.
you drag the DWP across the coals for power outages, yet its this city council that continues to approve the HD (high density) developments that suck more and more power from the grid.
where's the water coming from to flush a;ll those toilets? everyone plugs in cell phones, desktops, laptops, modems, tvs, dvd, hi-fi, washing and tumble dryer and aircon, what the hell do you expect the power grid to do?
I hope they get a general manager who knows how a transformer works too, that would be nice.

if this dumbshit doesnt take the time to even proof read a post that is so important to him that he has to CAPS every other word and is compelled to publish it on a website, why the fuck should I even read it or take any of it with even a grain of seriousness?
When something is important to you, you take the time to make sure your shit makes sense and is readable. Obviously RETARD in CD 14 doesnt think this is that important, so go fuck yourself matt dowd.

The point is not lost, there is a water crisis and the politicians continue to build.
We don't want or need the extra traffic, drain on our water supply, or extra housing.
Homes are already so close to each other that one could offer to wipe after their neighbors are finished doing their business.

Well, obviously the water crisis is not important to you,so why don't you leave your obscenity laced off topic posts somewhere else?

Obscene is the taxpayers continually getting screwed by these so called managers of water and politicians.
I think the professor from UC Davis that is appearing in the most recent commercial about our states water infrastructure should call our elected officials and complain to them. I am sure he is a nice man with intentions, but he is making me sick already.
I don't like being reminded that no one has been managing our water appropriately and this is the reason for the current state of disrepair?
He keeps reminding me that all this didn't happen overnight and the people in charge haven't been doing their jobs?
Perhaps, there has been too much concentration on planning projects like putting condo's next to the L.A. River which I am positive will help our states water crisis.

So there is now a "manager of water and politicians?" I kinda like that combo, no reason the manager of politicians has to have a separate department.
