Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday
Anthony Asadullah Samad writes that a growing chorus of Black leaders are expressing a dissatisfaction with Mayor Villaraigosa and his handling of issues important to the African American community. Among the comments former Black supporters regarding the Mayor include that he is "...trippin'. Hard." and that the Mayor "only deals in the 'politics of subjugation.'"
CurbedLA ponders "round-about" style traffic circles at various five and six way intersections such as Sunset, Virgil and Hollywood or Camarillo, Lankershim and Vineland in North Hollywood. Interesting that one opponent thinks that the resultant island in the middle would be used for day laborers to ply their wares.
Rick Orlov reports the LA County Sheriff Department's contract to provide policing for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is up and the MTA is considering other options. Previously police protection on the County's buses and trains has been provided by the now disbanded MTA Police Department, a combination of the Sheriff's Department and LAPD and presently the Sheriff's Department alone.
And finally, a new blog in LA makes the simple case L.A. Can't Drive. Blogger Mike says that "Basic traffic laws and driving etiquette clearly do not apply in a town where the people seem to operate in their own little bubble, completely unaware or dismissive of others on the road." Mike is calling for mandatory driving tests every six years.

The Mexican illegal aliens are the rude drivers in Los Angeles, us white folks are good and courteous drivers. Have you ever seen how the illegal aliens drive in Mexico City?

There are no illegal aliens in Mexico City. That country actually ENFORCES its immigration laws!

And they drive worse there than they do here.

I agree with 9:06. They think the painted traffic lanes on the roads are pretty little decorations.

Good afternoon Mayor Sam,
As we saw in the LAUSD School Board race in South L.A. The Mayor's reputation came within 3 points of losing. This was because of the brewing backlash against the antics of "HIS POLLONESS". BTW, "DR. DEATH" had a meltdown at the School Board meeting last night.Maybe those rumors from Covina were true ?
