Movement in the "Tennie Pierce Affair"
Only in L.A.!! According to KFI 640 AM, discussions are underway whether to "SETTLE" the Tennie Pierce Lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles. Or "ROLL THE DICES", and take their chances with a Jury Trial.
As I type these words, KFI's "John and Ken" are back on the "FRONT LINES" of this "ALLEGED" act of Discrimination on Firefighter Tennie Pierce after "BIG DOG" was given some dog food with his noodles.
We can agree that one of the lone highlight of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's term, was his veto of the original settlement that was crafted by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo.
Now ? We are back at settlement talks. This is because of the City Attorney's long standing fears that a "DOWNTOWN JURY" is likely to reward a higher figure in a trial. I for one may be in the minority in giving the "BENEFIT OF DOUBT" that a jury, upon seeing the pictures of the "REAL TENNIE PIERCE", would have the common sense to rule otherwise.

They just awarded another fire fighter $6.2M in a sexual discrimination and harassment lawsuit. Just fighting the case in court will cost the City $2.7M they said. They should do whatever makes sense money wise and start a program to prevent these things from happening in the first place. No hazing, no discrimination, no harassment. The LAPD and LAFD are rife with these abuses as are other departments that have officers.

The Tennie Pierce lawsuit is just one of many coming down the pike. Let unbiased jurors decide.

MAV also seems to have the unique ability to attract other lawsuits against our City from quarters friendly to MAV, that MAV would love to settle by giving away city resources or concessions.
Here we have one lawsuit, not from a MAV friend, that MAV doesn’t like to settle due to some public pressure. His veto of the settlement, perhaps the lone “highlight” of MAV’s term, may end up making our city lose more money?

That's precisely what the enviros have been asking.
They need to consider cost to take the case to trial, damage to image of City and Mayor, ultimate cost to settle. It's all about money.
Can't the venue be moved to the west valley or Van Nuys?
The fears of downtown jury are valid, look at how the blacks on the O J jury refused to believe the evidence, and to this day, many blacks believe that 9/11 was a Republican plot to make "fellow Muslims" look bad. (And a person in this blog finds it not coincidental that Hispanics started winning office in L A right after.)
Many people are idiots and vote their race or hatred of a race.
However, another issue is the lack of self-confidence in Rocky's office because they never win anything. His incompetence filters down to the whole staff.
The person who says this was in the Times online last night, is right. You don't have to wait for KKKFI to regurgitate your news.
Funny, no comments on the specious lawsuit of matt dowd against the city for his -- what? Loss of "income" from selling incense? Loss of "personal freedoms" by having Venice ban crap from being sold in certain places? Having the nerve to try to regulate that mess of a bizarre, where a bunch of the stuff is pirated or illegal copies?
That illegal Auckland immigrant and his sidekick mike hunt and their taxpayer-defrauding attorney Carol Sobel are just as phony as Tennis Pierce, or the May 1st illegals she's also "defending."
I'd like to see the city go against matt down and mike hunt to recoup the costs of defending against this frivolous suit, but they're penniless because they never did make any money selling their junk.

"Battling" matt? No taxpayers could be disgusted at being defrauded big-time by some "crybaby loser" as his bud calls everyone, while this blog does nothing from morning to night but decry every other imagined and often nonexistent waste and fraud? How can you people criticize ANY illegals who are being recruited by Carol Sobel or others, when they are ignorant, and responding to the lawyers who are actively recruiting them?
