Outtakes from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE" for Friday

Good Friday to all from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE". Outtakes a plenty for the start of the weekend.

LOS ANGELES TIMES, "WATER USE BY CITY OFFICIALS":
Times scribe Duke Helfand has a great piece in today's edition of the "OLD GREY HAG ON SPRING STREET". Helfand documents home water usage by various city leaders. Mayor Villaraigosa, our "GREEN MAYOR", uses on average, two times more water. Using Getty House and his home on Mt. Washington as an barometer of water usage. Villaraigosa sites his "PUBLIC FUNCTIONS" at Getty House, and gophers for wreaking the irrigation system at the Mt. Washington home. Just to note, the mayor states that his "WIFE" handles the finances, and was not aware of level of water usage. Hmmm. The Delgadillos, the "ORGANIZE COUPLE OF LOS ANGELES POLITICS", at one point had that "SIERRA NEVADA" water turn off for not paying their bill on time. They came in at double the average usage for their Hancock Park neighborhood. "KFI RADIO's JOHN AND KEN" will love the reason for Councilman Tony Cardenas water usage. Cardenas has 11 people living under one roof. Plus, his dogs love chewing off the sprinkler heads.

DAILY NEWS EDITORIAL, "TRASHY POLITICS":
Great editorial in today's "MOLDY GREEN SHEET" that everyone needs to read. The "PEOPLE'S COUNCIL OF FIFTEEN" is accelerating the hike in the "TRASH TAX". they point out correctly that these clowns suck up revenue streams as soon as they can find them. Seems water usage and spending habits go hand in hand.

DAILY NEWS, "LAUSD STRIVES FOR A IN ETHICS:
School Board President Monica Garcia, Superintendent Brewer and the other characters at the "BUILDING FOR CHILDHOOD INDOCTRINATION ON BEAUDRY", have a new goal. Here is a hint, start with a certain "CHARTER PUEBLO COLLECTIVE" that can't follow non-profit guidelines.

DODGERS WIN!!, DODGERS WIN!!:
The "CHOKING DOGS" not only scored some runs, but they won the game !! Have a great weekend. "FREEDOM AND FREE ENTERPRISE FOR ALL" Especially from the City Clowncil

AFTERNOON UPDATE:

KING-DREW MEDICAL CENTER FAILS FEDERAL TEST:
Watts area hospital King-Drew Medical Center, aka, "KILLER KING", fail in its attempt to maintain federal guidelines. This almost means for certain the hospital will close.

If Rocky didn't pay his DWP bill for so long that it shut off the water, the utility probably shut off the power, too. It's the same bill. He's an idiot. No wonder Riordan never wanted to endorse him.

It's not like DWP doesn't mail you a notice first, then post a shut off notice on your door. Sounds like they need someone to write those pesky checks for monthly bills.

I haven't seen the video, but from a strategy standpoint, ZD believes being seen together in a continuing relationship is actually a better PR move than breaking it off (or hiding it). I'm not at all saying any of it is a PR move. (I'm sure just the opposite. I'm sure the two are saying, "F-it! We are going to live our lives as private citizen's, as well.) And they are probably appearing together and letting people know they are still together DESPITE any negative publicity it may attract. (So that's actually courageous.)

I know I am gonna disappoint a lot of people with this position. But as a strategist, I always try and make the right call. So, it just seem like that always is anti-one side, and pro-the other side.

My recommendation to those ears I have been fortunate enough to whisper in has been: Well gee, what's worse...If you are getting a divorce over an affair with another person, what's worse in the collective mind of public perception:

a) It was all over some cheap, short-term affair that meant nothing beyond a physical relationship.

b) At least it was over a true affair of the heart (I would imagine if they are still together and willing to withstand intense public scrutiny) -- and they are still together. And if you took the population of people who are completely outraged by the mayor having a relationship outside his marraige, I'm sure a good percentage of them would agree with "b)", so you help win them over in the battle of public perception.

AND, keep in mind; if you already have written off the mayor over this; it doesn't matter either way:

If they are never seen together again, and it was proven that they are no longer together -- you are still gonna be upset with him over it. (You're not gonna say, "Well, it's O.K., he broke it off...I don't hold it against him.")

And if you see them together, you may be MORE upset...but you can only vote for the other candidate one time anyway. The level of you dissatisfaction doesn't matter.

And maybe some of these people will start to move to a "b)" perception, anyway.

So even though I'm pretty sure the two are just being courageous in their attempt to live their personal lives (they would be doing this whether it was good OR bad PR)...

ZD says, "Sorry usual allies and friends"...I may be correct on this, or completely wrong; but I gotta try and represent the "Marketing Warfare" perspective -- even if I wish the projected result was different.

MEANWHILE...It's not like it's gonna turn the whole world around for him and make the whole world love and support him, all of the sudden over this. I'm just saying, if you try and predict the effect, I say it goes in the "positive" column for shady region destroyer.

I noticed the last line of the article said, "...he did ask to approve the photo."

Who the hell does he think he is? He's just a mayor for crissakes; did he suddenly appoint himself a photo censor too?

August 10, 2007 12:23 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I have no idea what ZD just said. Is it best to point this out and give him more attention, or just ignore him?

August 10, 2007 12:28 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

12:23pm,

I didn't see where it said the mayor wanted photo approval. It just says, "The Mayor then wanted to see the "photo" being taken, and literally took the cell phone from our spy to flip through the photos -- photo approval anyone?!"

Did the mayor SAY he wanted photo approval, or that he was he going to delete any unflattering photos? The "photo approval anyone" comment was editiorial and may have been speculative. I mean if the mayor DID say, "photo approval", or deleted photos, I think that would have been mentioned, not just "editorialized".

Who doesn't like to see how the picture turned out? I'm sure the mayor wasn't thrilled to be photographed, but rolled with it, and wanted to see it, hoping it wasn't a disaster/unflattering photo. Was he mean spirited about it? Did he SAY he was going to delete them if he didn't like them?

ZD, read the link provided in 8:58's post again. I partially quoted the last paragraph in the article (refer to my previous post).

Notice the article said, "...he did ask to approve the photo.", hence my comment taking his position one step further.

12:57pm,

Thanks for the clarification. I read it off the TMZ site which was a paraphrase. It DOES say that on the 8:58am link. So if he DID say, "approval" and not just an assumed approval (by the mere fact that he wanted to see it), then that IS funny if he thought he could actually approve it. (Meaning he would delete it if he didn't like it.)

When this happens to me (people wanting to take a photo), I usually ask to look at it, and if it is a bad shot (lighting, angle...just a bad shot), I'll say, "Oh man, that's not good. Let's take it again.) And usually, that's what they were hoping for anyway, but don't want to be too pushy to ask.

Thanks for the clarification! I'd like to give Antonio the benefit of the doubt, unless you guys are really sure he was serious about wanting photo approval, and not just a funny way of saying, "Let's see it."

And seriously...for once I am jealous of Antonio. I'm only on public access TV...I have to settle for Francine Dancer.

Hey mayor...how about a double-date with Big ZD and Francine, and then we can do some "swinging". PLEAAAAAAAAASE...I'm begging you! I won't say your name for a year and I'll show up to the Council meetings and slam all of the jockying mayoral wannabees everyday until the elections!

You can't ignore something by continuing to call attention to it.

Regarding Tony and Rocky's water bills, my Dad used to say "Don't do like I do, do like I say".

It's just the same mentality that allows them to promise to fix transportation, clean up gangs, fix the housing crisis, clean up air pollution at the Port, create a regional airport system, and so many other things, and then just not do anything effective about it.

Promise the plebes whatever they want to hear, and then spend your time doing something really productive. Raising money from the power structure to finance the next campaign for higer office comes to mind. Or looking for cooperative young women.

This guy is pathetic. He used the whole "wholesome family" platform during elections. Sorry to say it but this is representative of the latino culture in LA. They preach God and Family while having multiple kids out of wedlock and with multiple partners. Southern California has become Tijuana part 2 thanks to this idiot who supports illegals coming and going into the state while stealing all the public resources and demanding rights given to legal US citizens. He is a freakin hypocrite who loves the spotlight.

re: the nitwits who question why he wanted to see his picture: lots of people don't like their pictures taken. Even regular people or minor celebs. But think of what a lot of A-listers get away with: you can't ask Angolina Jolie about her personal life or whatever she doesn't feel like talking about, or the interview is immed. over and she walks out. Ditto w/ a lot of people. THEY have a choice re: how much to reveal, too.

It's NOT about some "public right to know" crapola, even w/ a politician unless if affects his/her job. As for all the judging of their "character," what about Jolie, who was hailed recently by a major mag like USA today or People, as the "Best Woman in the World" for her gallavanting around and adopting half the world's orphans? This, a woman who broke up a viable marriage (NOT like the Mayor's, sorry if his wife hadn't gotten that msg. before), and won't marry Brad Pitt. And had a history of insisting on sleeping w/ every male friend at least once.

Hypocrisy. Get over it.

It does affect his job. Using mayoral time and city resources on spin and damage control affects his job.

Using the palace guard to manhandle reporters who he used to invite to follow him around is a waste of public resources and an invitation to litigation.

Egregious bad judgment and lack of self discipline spill over directly into public issues, and clearly degrade his ability to govern (no pun intended) effectively.

What if they just GAVE the King facility to a private, preferably non-profit, hospital? The CRA gives away property to rich developers all the time, so it's hardly a new idea.

The County could even subsidize them with all or part of the money that has been going down the rathole anyway.

Get rid of all of the employees, and start over without the County unions.

Dozens of hospitals are run successfully all over SoCal. It would be a tragedy to let these buildings stand empty, and leave the poor people with the necessity to travel to Big County or Harbor. Stopping that was why the damn thing was built in the first place.

Kaiser? Catholic Healthcare West (and I'm not a Catholic)? I swear that the County could provide enough subsidy to make it pencil out for these guys and still be money ahead.

Our mayor showing up with his mistress like high school lovers strolling in a fashion mall buying shoes?

This simply demonstrates that our supposedly 24/7 mayor may actually have absolutely nothing to do, and is capable of making one bad judgment after another.

1. For God’s sake, his divorce is not final yet. Can they keep a lower profile and remain in hiding? Tony, please show some respect. Please save some face for your kids and the mother of your kids.

2. He is supposed to move forward and work as hard as he knows how for the city of LA to redeem himself. How many days ago did he say that? But obviously he doesn’t know how, other than strolling with his mistress in a fashion mall. He is supposed to be a shrewd politician, and is he now putting sex, romance or love above everything else? Can’t image. Or does Salinas have something BIG on him, so he has to follow her around like he is on a short leash?

By the way, a lot of people would like to take extra time off from their jobs without getting paid, so long as they can keep their jobs when they come back. And they can‘t get that most of the time. But that is exactly what Salinas gets from Telemundo. Now she can stroll in fashion malls with our mayor. It seems to me a reward and not a punishment.

And who gave our mayor a ride there? And they had to pick up our mayor’s mistress too? The mayor’s body guards waiting outside and getting paid overtime? Same thing when our mayor met with his mistress in Orange county? Someone is spending all the time and money. So much for our nationally famous 24/7 mayor.

Hells bells, 3:58, get rid of all the public employee unions! All these bloodsuckers do is to take money away involuntarily from the public employees, and if the unions don't like what management offers, they declare a strike. If the majority of the employees vote not to strike, the unions declare a strike anyway, as they "fix" the vote.

If the employees object and go to work anyway, those employees are labeled "scabs"... which is not a good thing if the employee knows that it is the taxpayer who is responsible for the public employees' paychecks.

As for buying shoes, 4:55, is he planning to do what most illegal sympathizers do... keep her barefoot and pregnant?

It is really very simple - Villar is a sleazy, greasy, corrupt, self-absorbed creep. Salinas is an over-used, self promoting whore. I think they are perfect for each other as neither has an ouce of decency or discrimination about them. They SHOULD fade into the sunset TOGETHER, NEVER to be seen or heard from again and the sooner the better! And Villar can take his whole mexican gang with him - should be real cozy since most of them seem to be "good friends" with Merthuhluh too!
