Speaking of nutcase nonsense, Rick Caruso's favorite Congresswoman - Maxine Waters - appeared Wednesday at something called the "Impeachment Center," a facility that is set up for people who want to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Now while this old, dead Republican Mayor wouldn't shed any tears to see Dubya and Dick get the pink slip, it ain't gonna happen. Three words: President Nancy Pelosi. Even Hillary doesn't want that. I am sure Maxine's district has more pressing issues doesn't it?

Don Garza reports that Council Member Wendy Greuel was visibly emotional in reporting the first death of a US Serviceman in Iraq from her second district. Sgt. Giann C. Joya Mendoza, 27, of North Hollywood was one of five soldiers who died June 28 of wounds sustained when their unit was attacked in Baghdad by insurgents using improvised explosive devices. They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.


A study is underway as to whether several unincorporated areas of the Santa Clarita Valley should be annexed to the City of Santa Clarita or become their own cities. As a recommendation from those of us in the San Fernando Valley who can't escape the City of Los Angeles - go for the latter while you can. The City of Santa Clarita is a well run city but I am sure people thought the same thing of LA back in the early 20th century when it gobbled up much of the San Fernando Valley. Being in charge of your own destiny is always best.

The legendary pedal boats at Echo Park are gone and those at MacArthur Park may soon disappear as well. The City is claiming poverty, even though it spent over $500,000 for a new boathouse and dock at Echo Park.
