NEW VILLAR-CONTROLLED LAUSD BOARD "ORDER OF BUSINESS" AN ATTEMPT TO TRIP UP BREWER WITH BEURACRACY AND HYPOCRACY (MONICA GARCIA: Hi, My Name is ZD!)

ZD LIVE IN STUDIO WITH KEVIN JAMES ON 870 KRLA FRIDAY NIGHT BETWEEN 9p-11p.

***** UPDATE ****
I HAVE REVIEWED THE "ORDER OF BUSINESS" FROM JULY 3, 2007 LAUSD BOARD MEETING, WITH NEW MONICA LED ANTONIO BOARD. ABSOLUTLEY THE MOST HILARIOUS PIECE OF COMEDY EVER! I THINK ZD WILL BE GETTING TO KNOW THE BOARDMEMBERS OF LAUSD, VERY WELL. A FEW ISSUES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED...LIKE HOW YOU CAN SIT THERE AND TALK ABOUT CUTTING BEURACRACY, WHEN YOU JUST DUMPED THE MOST MASSIVE JOKE OF AN AVALANCHE INTO THE SYSTEM'S LAP. YOU SHADY AS F*CK MONICA GARCIA AND THREAT TO PUBLIC SAFETY LAUSD SCHOOL BOARD. ZUMA DOGG MADE COMMITTMENTS TO TREAT COUNCIL DIFFERENTLY...YOU HOWEVER YOU SHADY SONS OF BITCHES ARE GONNA GET ZD, FROM DAY ONE! IN MY OPINION, THE "ORDER OF BUSINESS" OF YOUR FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR IS REALLY GONNA GIVE TRUJILLO SOMETHING TO SPIN ABOUT...WHAT THE MAYORAL BACKED LAUSD SCHOOL BOARD JUST DID IS FAR, FAR MORE OUTRAGEOUS THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN AT COUNCIL. [ZD IS GONNA GET UGLY AS "F*CK" OVER THIS!!!] GET READY TO BECOME EXPOSED AND TURNED INTO LAUGHING STOCKS....YOU WILL BE THE ONES STEPPING DOWN!!! TRUST ME...ZUMA DOGG IS HERE TO SAY, THERE IS ENOUGH OPPOSITION RESEARCH OUT THERE, THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO ATTATCH AN ANVIL THAT WILL SINK SOME OF THESE BOARD MEMBERS...THEY DON'T WANT THE ROCKY TREATMENT...BUT AFTER ONE DAY OF WHAT I'VE JUST SEEN...THEY ARE GONNA GET IT.

MEDIA ALERT...MEDIA ALERT...MAYOR ANTONIO VIAGRAOSA JUST F*CKED THE PARENTS AND KIDS OF LAUSD, ALOT HARDER THAN HE HAS BEEN F*CKING ANYONE ELSE...COMMON CITY COUNCIL, MEDIA, FELLOW MAYOR SAM BLOGGERS...LET'S KICK THIS OUT OF CONTROL MAYOR OUT OF OFFICE AND INTO PRIVATE SECTOR! [I mean, the public made a mistake, let's FIX the mistake. Now that his re-election chances are officially over, let's change the batter, so we can pick up the pieces of this City, this irresponsible wrecking ball of a mayor has left behind as he's out there flyin' all over the world and screwin'everything in sight.) HEY MAYOR, HOW MANY OF YOUR STAFFERS UNDER CONTRACT WERE WORKING FOR THE CITY, LESS THAN A YEAR BEFORE, AND WHAT ABOUT HAUNG?

HOW DO YOU THINK I LIKE YOUR ANNUAL "ORDER OF BUSINESS" TONY AND MONICA. IT'S OBVIOUS NEITHER ONE OF YOU HAS A SHRED OF THE DISCIPLINE NEEDED TO DO ONE THING YOU ARE "REQUIRING". HA!

Now that the Villar-backed LAUSD school board is in full-effect, and LA Times finally printed what ZD did two days ago (that the four muppets vote Monica Garcia new Prez of Board), here's what's next.

Surprisingly, sometimes in politics, just because people say things like, "We look forward to working together", or "I am so impressed by Mr. Blank's passion and dedication" -- they actually hope each other spontaneoiusly combust.

So here is how you make the new school superintendent "go away" that was hired while you were in Asia on some "shady junket", last year:

YOU START PASSING ALL THESE NEW JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS AND NEW THINGS TO DO ON THE AGENDA. YOU THROW SO MANY HOOPS UP THERE, SO MANY BELLS TO RING...YOU EITHER:

a) Step Down
b) Let them buy you out (They want to avoid being seen doing that)
c) Keep track of all the ADDED BEURACRACY YOU JUST DUMPED IN HIS LAP, hoping he can't comply, and he gets a bad review, then you CAN look alright buying him out, or voting him out, or however it is, you have to violate the spirit of actual cooperation, and turn the kids and the school system into a shady politicial game.

SMILEY said..."Teaching is the only profession that I know of where politicos get to tell us how to do our job. Can you imagine politicos telling firefighters how to put out a fire? Police, how to patrol the streets? How about engineers how to design buildings."

SO THIS FOURTH OF JULY, ZUMA DOGG WILL BE REVIEWING ALL THE HOOPS, and looking for all the shady beauracracy that Villar's muppet crew just dumped into the kids and parents lap.

PS: This year, shoot 'em into the air, not into the building, please. Thank you!

Wow, if you read the text of Imperial Grand Pooh Bah Garcia's motions, you would think that working with EL's, getting parents involved, and graduating students are all brand new ideas.

What the hell does she think we've been trying to do for the past 30 years?

By my count, I see at least 5 new divisions in LAUSD she is proposing to create. 5 new boondoggles to suck up ever more of the shrinking pot of gold!

I think Duffy's quote in the Times is dead on. There is no way that teachers are going to allow this district to hold us accountable until they allow us the freedom to do the work in our classrooms as we see fit.

If they want to give us control of what, how, and when to teach material then by all means we will allow them to hold us accountable.

Teaching is the only profession that I know of where politicos get to tell us how to do our job.

Can you imagine politicos telling firefighters how to put out a fire? Police, how to patrol the streets? How about engineers how to design buildings.

This is just wrong. One nice thing about being in the loyal opposition, it is much easier to throw rotten veggies from the back benches.

I really don't see how things can improve with Monica Garcia at the helm. She was a supporter of Academia Semilla and instead of pulling the plug on this separatist experiment that prepares children for nothing useful, she got on her soapbox about her political awakening as a Berkeley undergrad Chicana.

Here is where ethnocentrism is not a good thing. Like the little league parents live vicariously through their children and mess up the enjoyment for the players, she and others like her are trying to create a political force that picks up where college left off. All this experimentation and activism at the expense of our young persons learning the 3 R's and becoming academically competent to handle tasks in preparation for the rest of life. They instead are prepared for remedial classes and being unsuitable for continued learning and objective thinking.

Monica Garcia is among the group that has taken the concept of cultural pride and made that somehow the singularly important guideline for evaluating education and anything else in this society. The outcome is- and has been- that you will have more people coming out of school a. "early" (dropping out), and b. "unprepared" (performing at several grade levels below 12th grade when they graduate.)

English language skills seem not to be a priority, while realistically, that is the key to unlocking all else. Adequacy instead of proficiency is the new "lowered bar" and it shows. Everything else follows similarly. "Can't pass the CAHSEE? (exit exam) then lower the passing score. Hah! Brilliant. Now they pass, so now they are proficient.

We did a lot in the 60's and 70's coming out of LAUSD but now morale, motivation and methods are hurt by the politics applied. Monica Garcia being such a practitioner.

Wake up LAUSD and Parents- use what worked and stop making excuses. You have too many non-English speakers? Too bad, you wanted loose immigration enforcement, and that's the outcome. Now get the idea out to LEARN English in speaking, writing and listening.

Perro, do you know how ridiculous you look finding a future bamboozle in every single solitary public official, board and act?

You are like the little boy who cried "Wolf!!

That's why no one listens to your drivel anymore, even if the message happens to be a lucky home run.

Go back to something you understand, like selling shirts or smoking pot.

Smiley (and Zuma): You ask, can you imagine a politco telling a fireman how to put out a fire: that assumed that Brewer is a professional educator when THAT IS FARTHEST FROM THE TRUTH. He was explicitly hired by that control-freak Marlene Kanter with ABSOLUTELY NO QUALIFICATIONS BUT HIS "ENTHUSIASM" AND EXPLICIT INTENTION TO DEFY VILLARAIGOSA AT EVERYTHING HE DOES. The guy had NO creds as an educator, nothing but a retired Admiral (with top-down military-style "leadership," i.e., I'll tell you what to do and you follow), so your analogy is all hopelessly wrong, bro. And if you mean those UTLA teachers, they have been exposed as intentionally forcing out Green Dot charter schools, and there is one amazing- sounding charter profiled in 3 (NO particular fan of the mayor) under "The School that LAUSC Tried but Failed to Kill"...If they can't succeed at improving the schools, no one will -- the kids be damned.

Oh, and since you're always talking about waste: this unqualified Supe is getting over 400K/year plus expenses, far more than the Mayor. After 8 mos.(around 300K plus expenses) all he's managed to do is admit he doesn't know squat about education, so he formed a task force to "study" the situation.

Brewer and Kanter telling Antonio he can't try his reform "clusters" before 9/08 is a blatant political play: if they prevent him from even starting before then, he can't get any results this term. And with the private capital he's lined up and the spotlight shined on those test schools, they'll be very lucky, indeed. At least AV is willing to put himself out on a limb with all this.

Maybe if you didn't let your hatred of the Mayor blind you to the real egomania/control freaks here, you'd see this. (And yes, I have to admit that while I don't think his personal life is relevant, the fact that he couldn't separate from his wife before he made all those announcements, and in fact said he was solidly married, wasn't cool.)

7:09: You're just proving that you mix up his personal life with the actual details and merits or lack thereof, of the LAUSD and etc. etc.

The latter does not impact the former whether schools, etc. -- If this woman hurts his chances at higher ofc. that's another matter. Not taht he had an affair per se, or even that he broke his marriage up clumsily to say the least (Rudy's was messy, too) but that people just don't seem to like this woman, see her as a social-climber of worse, a series of politicos she was out to get thru her job; and if he runs for Gov., there may be those who wonder if she's more "Mexican" than American, being a Spanish-language reporter and all. she has to prove she has something to life/ offer/ is sincere, in love at least, not out to "get" him.

I'm not ready to bury the Admiral yet. I'm not sure that the Sup has to have an education background, though it would help. I"ll remind you that Sup Zacharias once said that every school should be in the 90th percentile for standardized testing, failing to understand the way those tests are measured. i.e for every school at 90, someone somewhere has to be at 10%.

When I speak of politicos I'm really not referring to Mayor Phil (as in philander) who can sthup anyone or anything he wants as far as I care.

When I speak of politicos I'm talking about Mayors, Assemblymen, Senators, and yes even Presidents.

The single biggest threat to education today is the politics. Everyone running for office on a local, state and national setting seems to have a plan to FIX education.

Everyone has their own way to do it, as if thinking good thoughts will magically make it so.

My friends, there are no easy answers to difficult questions like what's wrong with education today.

Honestly, if breaking up this district would solve the problem, I'd be first in line to do so, and yes I'm a UTLA teacher. But it won't. Simi Valley is 1/10 of our size, same problems. Burbank and Glendale too. The problem isn't the size of the district, it's what the district does with it's size.

Like it or not, LAUSD is the 900lb Gorilla. The school board if they ever got off their asses, could use that size to dictate real change, rather than just reacting to politicians who use us for their own political gain. (Again, I'm not just talking about Mayor Phil, insert the Gov, or Prez to the list too.)

Educational reform must be seperated from the 4 year election cycle. Real reform, requires time. Real reform requires the willingness to see the reform through, from K to 12. Then you see what works, and what doesn't.

You see, as a social studies teacher, I have about the most freedom of any teacher in the district. Yet, I have no control over what I teach, that is dictated by state standards and curriculum. I have less and less control over how long I teach a subject, as pacing plans are being instituted. I have even less control over what I can and cannot do in the classroom, with even the smallest transgression prompting a meeting with the principal over a parent complaint that was prompted by the student.

Is it hard to get rid of bad teachers. I've got news for you, it's hard to get rid of any teacher not on probation. And that's how it's going to remain. Partly, because we are sick and tired of being blamed for everyone's plans for improving education failing, and partly because of pure economics.

Surprise Surprise, very few people want to teach. CSUN is running at less than 1/2 their education students than just 5 years ago.

The U.S. Departmen of Education (under Republican Margaret Spellings) projects a shortage of 2 million teachers in the next 10 years. Folks, there are only 5 million teachers nationwide. THATS A SHORTAGE OF 40%!

Whine all you want about how bad public education is. Nothing is going to change until we systemically change the way we operate.

So, let's systemically change things. Over the next few months, let's have an honest discussion of what needs changing.

I'll even make you a deal, don't bring any of that weak ass shit like "let's get rid of bad union teachers" and I'll leave "just give us more money" at home.
