Blast from the Past
This is the opening for Room 222, a television drama from the late 60s - early 70s. The exteriors of the school were shot at LA High (though in the show the school is called Walt Whitman High) but I think some shooting was also done at Walter Reed Junior High in North Hollywood.
The interesting thing is that even though this show took place during a tumultuous time I am not sure things today are better. I also like the respect both the students and teachers showed by dressing well.

Wow, I never even heard of this show. I noticed that it started the same month as the least favorite TV series of my childhood - "Love, American Style." The latter was SO cheesy!

Trivia...Denise Nicholas was at one time married to longtime LA sportscaster Jim Hill. Also that Karen Valentine was one major leage "hottie" back in the day. What ever happened to her?

Interior and school field shots of Room 222 were filmed at Hamilton HS in west LA, as was Mr. Novak

Yeah, those California public schools were great!!
Before Prop 13, that is.
Isn't it amazing how schools work better when they're adequately funded?
Dumbass.

Room 222 was filmed at Los Angeles High School prior to the earthquake in 1971 when the beautiful brick building was torn down and replaced by the present prison-like structure on Olympic & Rimpau Blvds. I know because I attended LAHS during this time and frequently saw the entire cast on campus. And yes, it was a wonderful time to be a student in the L.A. Unified School District.

Does anyone remember the fresh baked scrumptious sweet rolls they used to serve at LAUSD schools. Do they still do this or is it some cheap pan dulce that Jose Huizar's mom makes?

Karen Valentine used to be my neighbor in Sherman Oaks. I was just a kid but thought she was hot.
