Despite The Best Efforts of Two Losers

Despite the best efforts of Mayor V and the "Drunken, Bloated Senator" Edward M. Kennedy of Massahcusetts, President Bush's immigration scam has hit the skids until late 2008 or early 2009. Good. We don't need amnesty.

Now we need to work on the issue here in Los Angeles so that citizens and legal immigrants of all stripes can compete fairly in the marketplace and not see their communities go to hell.

Here is a simple plan for illegal immigration.

Step 1: Realize that the first word in "illegal immigration" is "illegal."

Step 2: Put in place a national system for immediate SS# verification for employers and perhaps a tamper-proof ID card.

The system can check for invalid numbers, numbers used a zillion times, etc. Employers get an authorization# from the system that must be included in their filings. Credit card machines do it. Why not require them to add this capability to their machines?

Step 3: Audit businesses to make sure their payroll percentages are within an appropriate range for that type of business. If they are not, audit their employment records.

Step 4: Punish the crap out of employers that violate the law. Make the penalties so onerous that breaking the law does not pay.

Step 5: With the employment magnet turned off, those without work will return home.

Step 6: Understand that by providing health and education benefits to illegals, you are denying those services to those who are here legally - citizens and immigrants alike. That is just unacceptable.

Step 7: We need to be English only. We want America to be a melting pot. Without a common language, we cannot understand each other and work out our problems. This is NOT to say that all languages should be banned or cultures diminished, just that schools, ballots and other official documents should be English only. We should mandate (and pay for) English classes for immigrants so they can become part of our society.

Step 8: Change the constitution to eliminate anchor babies. The idea that you can enter the country illegally and give birth to an American citizen by crossing over 1 minute before giving birth is truly silly.

Step 9: Control our borders. It will be easier once the magnet of illegal employment and unlimited benefits has been removed. Homeland security is non-existent if the front and back doors are wide open.

Step 10: Once all of the above has been implemented, THEN work out who can come in LEGALLY and contribute to this country's success.

Suppose Mayor Sam has zero recollection that Jon Kyl along with Mcain were the two Senators that inserted more amendments into the bill than Kennedy did.

And god forbid we forget that it was President Bush who pushed hardest for this.

But yes, this bill failing is Villariagosa's fault.

And actually -- nodoing anything is better for immigrants than these stupid law they are trying to pass.

12:31, he didn't say Villar was responsible for the bill's tanking, he said that it tanked "despite" his effort.

But I'll go out on a limb myself and say that Villar probably indeed hurt the bill's chances.

Too late Mayor Sam our communities already look like hell thanks to councilmen like Huizar and Reyes who allow the illegals to do as they damn please. Both districts look like 3rd world countries and Tijuana. Downtown LA is an embarrassement especially on Broadway. It is owned by the illegals. Trash all over the place and illegal vendors carts on every corner. Yet, these two councilmen do nothing to clean up their districts. They are the filtyess in the city. The illegals now want the gov't to put a moritorum on deportations. IDIOTS!!! The problem is there's been no deporations like in the 80's. Those marches backfired and they say they will protest again. Start deporting them now.

John & Ken KFI were hilarious yesterday on this issue. City council should learn their lesson that the majority of America was against this. Every Senator will tell you they got hundreds of calls against this bill and maybe 1 or 2 in favor. They should do a call around this city to wake them up. City Council better stop providing tax payer money for these damn marches. Whoever votes to approve we should start recalling them loud and clear just like Weiss Ass.

Excellent plan. I would also add eliminate the minimum wage. I agree that by enforcing employer sanctions you do turn off the magnet for folks to come here. However you have to turn off the magnet for employers to hire illegals and that's minimum wage and living wage nonsense that make no economic sense. Or if you can't swallow that whole pill, at least have different minimum wages for different types of job or training wages, etc. If McDonalds can hire a kid who is here legally or was born here - and pay them a buck or two less than minimum - they're more likely to do that than hire 32 year old illegals at 8 or 9 bucks an hour.

1231 - You didn't read it right but good thing 1253 got it. I didn't say that Antonio doomed it (but he's right maybe it did hurt) I said that despite him traveling all the way to DC to sing "Ay Jalisco No Te Rajes" with the Bloated, Druken Senator (I also like Cape Cod Orca) didn't do anything to help.

Do not mistake me too - I've taken on loser scumbag Republicans like GW "Nitwit" Bush, McCain, etc.

However in the end it wasn't Tony Villar, BDS, GW Dummy, Goober Lindsay Graham or even Hilary Bonehead Clinton that had major impact on the vote. It was the crush of Americans of all ethnicities, backgrounds and colors contacting their Senators all over the country and letting them know how they feel about amnesty and that the key word to illegal immigration is illegal.

Nice try Tony.

That's where the auditing kicks in. Payroll percentages are within a fairly known range for a given type of business/size. If a business's payroll percentage (as reported on tax returns) is markedy lower than the typical business of that type, then they get a detailed audit.

The minimum wage can serve a purpose. It was never intended to be a living wage. It is a wage for people new to the workforce. Maybe there should be a time limit on how long a worker can be at minimum wage before they are transitioned to a true living wage.

Mayor AWOL
Re "Mayor lobbying for immigration" (Briefly, June 27):
I understand that our stealth mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, and his entourage were in Washington, D.C., again — this time to support the Senate immigration bill. Isn't the L.A. mayor supposed to stay at home and take care of local matters? I recall when Antonio was spending a lot of time in Florida working with the Kerry campaign while he was being paid to be a full-time L.A. councilman. I hope all of this is remembered when he is looking for votes again.

Rein him in
Someone please tell me who's paying for "our beloved leader" (reference to Kim Jong-Il of North Korea) to fly to Washington, D.C., to support the immigration bill. It's none of his business. As a sanctuary city, L.A. does not need any more illegal immigrants. He already refuses to acknowledge the problem illegal immigrants create.

The bill had nothing to do with running the city of L.A. We have serious problems in L.A., and "our beloved leader" continues to be sidetracked with unimportant or irrelevant issues, including flying all over the world at taxpayer expense. I did not vote for him, and everything I suspected about him has come to pass. He needs to be reined in.
