Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
Its not just the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council that struggles with the Brown Act. Rent-A-Cops at the John Ferraro DWP Building downtown seemed to think that a public meeting held at the facility was not open to the public.
Mayor Poopy got his name in the paper! Former Mayor James Hahn (ahh, those were the days) was fined over $5K for campaign finance irregularities in his 2005 election battle against now (sigh) Mayor Villaraigosa.
The Metro Green Line stops a couple miles short of LAX and its still going to for a while. A state assembly appropriations committee has killed funding for the extension for the rest of the year. Some insiders think it was behind the scenes lobbying by the MTA that killed the bill.
Chief William Bratton will travel to San Jose next week to talk to Latino journalists about actions taken by his officers during a May Day immigration rights rally held at MacArthur Park.
If you thought LA's business taxes were high, New York City's are even higher. However Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to lower them in order to preserve the City's business climate.
Might be time for public comment in Malibu for Zuma Dogg. The City Council is considering a ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in the beach front municipality.
Remember the South Central Farmers? The ones that Dennis Zine went in the middle of the night to scare the crap out of? They made it to the big time and got to testify before the United Nations about the oppression they faced.
And finally, I didn't know there was a such a thing but The City of West Hollywood's Lesbian Visibility Committee is hosting the annual "Dyke March." Featuring legendary lesbians such as Hurricane Jackie Goldberg, I believe the correct title should be "LEFT WING Dyke March." Will Republican Lesbians be participating?

Re: Green Line and LAX
Same shite, different city. The BART in SF doesn't go all the way to their airport because the CAB DRIVERS raised such a stink and sicced their lobbysists on the city fodders. They knew without those one-way racket rates, they'd be reduced to taking drunks home at night, from downtown.

When I go to S.F I take the Bart to the city. How long has it been since you were there 11:09?
Maybe you mean why the Green Line wasn't connected to LAX when it was built.

...pssst, don't tell Zuma we have a thread going without him -- he'll muck it all up!

BART didn't used to go to SFO but it has for the last three years. You have to take a shuttle or walk from the station to the terminal (except for international which is right there) but its a very short distance.
BART is a fantastic system. LA should have done the same thing at the same time.

Oh I guess we can blame Sam Yorty for that!
