"Green Advisory Board" to Create Incentives for Good Environmental Stewardship (And That's Gonna Be Expensive As Hell, Y'all)

CM GREIG SMITH'S ENVIRONMENTAL UPDATE:

ADOPTION OF ACTION PLAN TO IMPROVE BUSINESS AND COMMERCIAL, WASTE DIVERSION IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES

RECOMMENDATIONS

2. Create a Green Business Advisory Committee [that costs money, y'all], comprised of City Departments, business owners and associations, community groups, environmental organizations, and Neighborhood Councils, to create incentives [that costs money, y'all] and awards [that costs money, y'all] for those businesses in Los Angeles that provide good environmental stewardship.[Who decided we were spending money on this, and who gets to evaluate "good"?]

3. Authorize the Bureau of Sanitation to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) to
permitted waste haulers in the City seeking assistance [that means money, y'all] in expanding existing or
establishing new waste diversion programs for City businesses [that costs money, y'all.]

Overall, all of this sounds good. Who would say no to all this Green stuff? Except it's a spending trap. Can't Arnold Scwarzenegger call Tom Hanks, Speilberg and Geffen and have then pay for all of this. It's expensive as hell. I admire the step forward, it needs to be discussed. But I worry about taking on something like this (way too much room for fraud, waste and abuse) with the current cast of Nucklehead cahootants scurrying around the third and fourth floors.

Read the whole City "Green" Report. Someone was smoking something "green" when they wrote it. (Just kidding Greig! You're cool! But why "No" on Huizar's EIR?)

ok. but f*ck talking about green.

everybody who hasn't already, go out and get CFL lights to replace those ancient energy guzzling filament bulbs in your home.

I just heard that if everyone replaced just 5 bulbs in their dwelling, it would be the equivalent of taking 400,000 cars off the road.

Please everyone, its time to do that. Its easy, saves you tons of money on your power bill, and takes thousands of tons of greenhouse gas and particulate matter out of the air.

I have them now everywhere, they're way better than I thought, the only place you can't use them is with a dimmer switch.

or should I call it the Rocky switch?
