Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday
Orange County Democratic blogger Andrew Davey says that Santa Mayor Miguel Pulido is no Antonio Villaraigosa. In Davey's view, Pulido is "controversial" because the Mayor - who happens to have immigrated from Mexico City as a child - doesn't buy into the usual leftist agenda of some liberal Hispanics. Pulido says he doesn't want to be seen as a Hispanic mayor but as, "a mayor." Sounds reasonable to me.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that following the melee in MacArthur Park Chief Bratton's re-appointment isn't as much of a slam dunk as it once was. While the Chief's support from Mayor Villaraigosa is still strong, some community leaders are having second thoughts.
Visit Mayor Sam 2 to read a customer complaint to Time Warner Cable that was filed with the City's Information Technology Agency. You can also read about the County's summer bus shuttle program that takes you to various hotspots.
If you have a major motion picture you want to promote by placing banners on streetlights but want to get around the City's restriction on commercial advertising of this nature, how do you do it? Tie in your promotion to the Mayor's Million Trees LA program.
The Mayor - once called "Attention Deficit Villaraigosa" by Mayor Sam readers - has got his majority on the school board. So what does he move to next?
Governor Schwarzenegger is considering privatizing the state lottery. CurbedLA reports that some of the proposals for private operators to boost participation could violate state compacts with Indian tribes that operate gaming businesses.
HOWS Markets - the successful spin off to the longtime popular Hughes Grocery Stores - has descended on the NoHo Arts District. A CurbedLA reader snarkily declares "Let the gentification begin!"
And finally if you needed evidence that the government generally can't get things right, here's some. Last Thursday was "Bike To Work Day." Wendy Greuel knew about it and was giving out free food to bikers. The Bachelor knew about it and cut short his commute by riding not from Sherman Oaks but San Francisco to Sacramento. But not everyone knew. The MTA promised those riders who boarded with bikes that fares would be free. LAist reports that bus drivers and Metro Rail sheriff's deputies didn't get the message as many reports indicated drivers claimed to be unaware of the promotion and deputies were writing tickets for non-fare paying bikers. Sigh.

Pulido sounds like the kind of mayor we should have here in LA. He doesn't pander to the illegals just because he's Latino.
Now all of a sudden everyone has cleaned toliets. This is from stories on the midget mayor's plans to hire youth for the summer. Problem is all the illegals are taking the jobs away.
....We all smile today when we remember our first job, but I know we weren't smiling when we were cleaning toilets or mowing laws in the heat of the summer," Councilman Tony Cardenas said at a City Hall news conference.
"One in five of our young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are out of school and out of work," Villaraigosa said. "The lessons we all learned as young people need to be taught to a new generation."
Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, who cleaned toilets and warehouses at her parents' building-supply firm, where she also worked a forklift once she was old enough to drive.

Weiss' opponents plan news conference today
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
May 22, 2007
Angry Westside residents who have been threatening for months to launch a recall attempt on Los Angeles City Councilman Jack Weiss issued a news release Monday that said they would make an announcement today.
But they did not say what they were announcing. The release also touted the group's recently unveiled website but failed to disclose any names of the group members or even the location of the news conference.
Weiss' political consultant, Larry Levine, declined to comment because no official recall attempt has been filed.

I cleaned toilets at McDonalds in Tony Cardenas' district when I was a teen. The trouble is that adults (mostly illegals) are now taking these jobs that teens once did. That does a huge disservice to our teens.

Democracy and free speech is an expensive proposition.
I'm with you -- let's just cut all that crap out entirely, and go back to dictatorships, monarchies, and theocracies. Then only a handful of madmen will be wasting the taxpayer's money, and not all this bourgeois riff raff.

Mayor Sam:
According to your post, Pulido is the "Mayor of Santa".
Is that Santa Ana, Santa Clara or Santa Claus?
