"The Mayor (Antonio Villaraigosa) Is Spending Like Crazy" According to City Treasury Staffer

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The mayor is spending like crazy. He likes to travel and he likes to hire a lot of people." - City Treasury staffer to Zuma Dogg (05/21/07)

Yeah, yeah...the good thing about being a recognized public figure, is that people like to tell you things on the street. Like the City Treasury staffer who Zuma Dogg was talking to about today's budget meeting at the DASH bus stop.

I was complaining how that shady crybaby Eric Garcetti called me off topic (at today's budget meeting) for demanding that Council tell that defeated loser mayor to pay back the general fund budget for all the money he spent in court on that illegal and unconstitutional hairbrained LAUSD takeover scheme.

So the Treasury staffer blurts out, "The mayor is spending like crazy." (As second staffer nodded head in agreement.) ZD says, "Oh really? That's funny, cause he's cutting everyone else's budget across the City." Staffer reply, "He likes to travel -- and he likes to hire a lot of people."

So look for "VILLAGROSSA WORLD TOUR 2006-2007" to extend a leg into 2008. Hey mayor, you wanna cut the budget...cut your travel and entourage budget.

Oh no...I hope the City wins the Federal lawsuit against them for RICO violations/rackettering. $10,000,000 is a hell of a lot to aks for.

Villaraigosa's annual travel budget is $200,000 -- enough to fly round-trip to Paris 10 times per month every month for a year.

As I recall -- I don't have the figure in front of me -- he has a staff of about 80, which, I believe, is more than the entire City Council's staff, or at least on a par with it.

And what do I hear? Well, perhaps one of the reasons His Nibbs is spending is that his polling numbers are on an even keel with those of Steve Westly. And for what office is this? The leader of this fair state that's what. But what is really interesting is that all of the flotsam and jetsam that has bobbled about on this blog is just now becoming "news" to those in the Westly camp. (Sighs) Those in the Westly camp that sail under a different pirate flag are rather dull witted it seems, but nonetheless we shall enjoy their company and conversation.

Oh and while I'm at it, Zuma lad, are you about? What was the name of that development company that has all of the blog agog? Any chance that it's connected with the daughter of someone who just announced their candidacy for president in Los Angeles today? Her development is out in the Coachella Valley, where there are all sorts of beasties with ties to City Hall, savvy?

Walter can't even get his criticisms right. The Mayor has more like 110-120 on his staff, but 9:59 p.m. is right - Councilmembers average about 20 staffers each, which adds up to...uh, 300. What is it about 300 that makes it less than 80, or even 120, Walter? And how good is your research if you can't figure out how big the Mayor's staff is?

If Walter can't do the simple arithmetic, what are the chances anybody's going to entrust him with a multi-billion dollar city budget?

Unbelievable those lame ass idiots passed the $6.79 Billion budget. They kept the gang programs existing and put new $19 million for gang programs over to Cardenas. His brother Ernesto just got a nice paying $100,000 position as commissioner by Antonio. Slimy corrupt bastards
