Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday

Absolutely disgusting. Some dumbasses have vandalized the outside of Council Member Jack Weiss' district office with swastikas and other racist graffiti. Lets hope the police find the clowns who did this.

More after the jump

We broke the story last night; LAist has an excellent interview with Joseph Mailander, following his stepping down as editor of the longtime LA blog, Martini Republic. Though Joseph still co-owns the blog, his absence will create a huge vacuum and like LA Voice without Mack Read, or KABC without Mr. KABC or Kevin James, MR is in dangerous shark-jumping territory. Indeed, we've already delisted MR from our "hot blog" section and replaced it with Mailander's new entry, splice the mainbrace.

Los Angeles City Librarian Fontayne Hughes will show up on Patt Morrison's radio show Friday to discuss the Library's recent unveiling of free wi-fi at all City libraries. Kudos to Hughes, this is a great program.

It doesn't get a lot of attention, but CurbedLA has a good piece on the up and coming berg that is Koreatown.

The union for broadcast technical employees, NABET, has come out with a statement regarding the treatment of broadcast crews by the LAPD during the pro-illegals rally on Tuesday. Indeed, the cops should have been beating up and deporting the illegal alien criminal gang members and trouble makers rather than TV reporters.

Mailander has proposed yurts as good low income, transitional housing for the homeless (as opposed to spending millions on "affordable housing" and Skid Row hotels). Another option as seen over at CurbedLA are low cost homes are cargo containers.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with a flourish):

Since one of me is laid up at the moment, the other of me will step in. Behold the wild Irishman! (Grins like a loon and open up mouth to sing).

"Whose afraid of the big bad Feds...the big bad Feds, the big bad Feds. Whose afraid of the big bad Feds? He flew home this morn-ing!"

So, we have the Men In Black sniffing 'round for rights violations, do we? Poor Lucille must be happy to see them, savvy? Our inside spy, a certain Madame Wu, if you will, tells us that it's more than just the Feds that scare the pants off of You Know Who....it's the fact that many of the birds in the cage see this as an opportunity to sing under the protection of the eagle's wing. For once the bird has flown the 'coop, there is no catching them back again. (Opens up brelly to avoid the bird turds) I see more than just the eagles on the horizon, for birds of a feather flock together; perhaps the IRS might be nosing around as well to investigate those expense reports? Or will it be the nice chaps from Mr. Hoover's agency who come to town. Lucille my dear, better check that phone line again to make sure it's tapped and not bugged. For spying begets spying, savvy?

No, I don't think this will be a good weekend for certain sots who were going to attend a certain party in honour of a certain holiday that has more to do with talk and less to do with tequila. And speaking of parties, the Pearl is with a day or two of queing up for her Canal transit. After that, she's based in Florida for the summer for some fun and adventure. (Sighs) But the sitchy-ation at home means more face time with the other pirate crew and of course more questions.

Must run dearies, for the the jacked-up quartermaster needs a ride to the doctor to have his ankle photographed, savvy? Have a wonderful weekend sots and don't spend it wondering who is going through your drawers at work. Worry instead about what was in the desk, the credenza and the Blackberry files, savvy?

Cap'n, methinks 'tis time the likes o' us changed the lyrics 'round o' a nursery tune:

Sing a song of City Pence
The mayor is a creep.
The Feds they are arriving,
A-digging very deep.
When they start inquiring,
The witnesses shall sing
Stating in sub rosa;
Upsetting Villaraigosa!

The council - it acts strangely
And says it's not to blame.
Although all their excuses
Are sounding rather lame.
The Mayor raises taxes,
And calls them service fees.
"You can always write a cheque
And send it to me please!"

Cap'n, do ye have more verses to add, mayhap?

Aye, and to ye blockheads what don't know RICO from Rico, mayhap the guv'ment be meanin':
Racketeer
Influenced and
Corrupt
Organizations.

Mayhap our Pueblo shouldst welcome RICO?
