Exclusive: Ethical Questions in LAUSD District 7 Runoff

A letter from a Magnet School Principal is raising ethical questions whether "TAX PAYER" money is being use to promote the campaign of Dr. Richard Vladovic, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's endorst candidate for the LAUSD District 7 seat.

South Shore Magnet School Principal, Paul Suzuki send the letter to parents at the school advising that David Kooper, the school magnet coordinator would be extending his "LEAVE OF ABSENCE". This is due to his work as the Campaign Manager of the Vladovic campaign.

What raises the "ETHICAL EYEBROWS" is Principal Suzuki wishing both Kooper and Vladovic "EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS" in their campaign. Simply, what started out as a simple update on the status of an faculty member becomes a endorsement of the Vladovic Campaign on the school stationary. This is a major breech of ethics.

Principal Suzuki and his relationship to the Vladovic Campaign need to be investigated by the District. It is one thing for Principal Suzuki to support Dr. Vladovic on his own time. But to use district resources to show support for his candidate of choice is a major "CONFLICT OF INTEREST" and most likely a violation of district policy.

In the least, Principal Suzuki should reimburse the district for the cost of the letter. But further, he should face reprimand for his actions.

In twelve days, voters will vote on the District 7 runoff between Dr. Vladovic and former principal Neal Kleiner. Kleiner is being supported by third place finisher Jesus Escandon in the May 15 election.

Dumb-dumb-dumb-dumb red spot of reason is the most stupid blogger on here.

Nice try, but alas wishing someone good wishes no matter how strong is perfectly legal.

She does not tell people when the election is or for whom to vote for -- no harm, no foul, if anything more people in LA should wish their colleagues good luck in positive things they do. Civic engagement is defintely a good thing.
