VILLARAIGOSA'S FREQUENT FLYER BUDGET

By Walter Moore, Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, www.MooreIsBetter.com

Don’t you just love Paris? Me, too.

Guess how many round trips you could make to Paris if you had the same travel budget as Mayor Villaraigosa?

Here’s a hint. You’ve seen pictures of Villaraigosa on trips to China, London, Washington, D.C., Miami, Detroit, Sacramento, New York, Chicago and Japan. Next month, he’s going to Mexico and El Salvador. Have you ever seen a picture of the guy at his desk, doing his job?

Here’s another hint: Air France charges $832 for a one-way ticket between Los Angeles and Paris.

Okay, have you figured out how many round trips to Paris you could take with the Mayor’s annual travel budget -- a budget funded with your hard-earned tax dollars?

The correct answer is: 120 round trips per year. You could fly there and back 10 times per month.

But if you did, you couldn’t get your work done, could you? And that, my friend, is one of the problems with our current Mayor. He doesn’t treat his job as, well, a job. Instead, he spends an inordinate amount of time taking trips and staging photo-ops. As a career politician, he’s always running for the next office.

If you elect me Mayor, I will take the job seriously. I will work full-time, right here, in L.A. Rather than wasting your money on unnecessary, self-aggrandizing trips, I’ll use the phone, FedEx and video-conferencing when I need to reach someone out of town. Villaraigosa’s $200,000 annual travel budget will be a thing of the past.

But for that to happen, I need your help to raise the $150,000 required for matching funds. To change our city, you have to join those of us who have put our money where our mouth is. Contribute today, would you? Please visit www.MooreIsBetter.com, and use your credit card -- you know, the one that gives you frequent flyer miles.

"If elected I promise blah blah blah..." You'll be right there with the rest of the political hacks. In line waiting for a gift form a special interest.
I would respect you more if you stopped lying and pretending to be an honest man.
The fact that you have these political aspirations and have chose to post your rantings on this or any blog just points to your desparation to reach some public office from where you can grab some low hanging fruit.
You're no different that anyone at city hall, sir. Just drop the act and admit it.
Muerto de hambre.

Another anonymous staffer heard from, again trying to CHANGE THE SUBJECT. Can you justify the Mayor's spending $200,000 on travel? No, of course you can't. So you try to CHANGE THE SUBJECT.

The Mayor is wasting our money, and not doing his job. He's essentially misappropriating tax dollars to fund his next campaign, by staging endless photo ops all over the world.

You staffers cannot justify that, or your jobs. That is why you try to change the subject. Sorry. Won't work any more.

No Sir. I am not a staffer. The only reason that I post anonymously is to prevent some hate mail comign my way.
And I am not trying to change the subject. I am convinced that you are no different from any other politician or political wannabe. SImply put - I do not trust you. You are a political animal. No more, no less. I looked through your website and while I commend you for some of your talking points you haven't made a convincing case as to how you are any different from any one else who want to run for office. Just saying that your better then the other guy doesn't make it so.

By the way - typos on any of my posts are the result of my being a bad typist - not a bad speller. That is a very common attack on a person's opinion here and I want to address that before it gets brought up.
Peace!

Well, Mr. Anonymous Staffer, I see you have yet to justify the $200,000 expenditures on travel. So how about you take your comments on everything else, and post them on your own website: StaffersWhoWouldLikeToChangeTheSubject.com.

Er, Mister Fed Up - I would call it either a typo virus, which "might" be infecting your SpellCheck, or a "bad typist virus" which could be affecting your keyboard.

Thank you for your disclaimer.

I have a long memory regarding the category of career politicians, and Walter Moore doesn't fit in that category. Our current Mayor however, does fit in that category.
I *think* that I'm the type of voter most career politicians are afraid of - if I see one campaigning for another office, I'm liable to vote for his or her opposition.

Such will be the case if it comes down to voting between our current Mayor as a candidate, and Walter Moore. I may not agree with all of Walter's positions, but his platform is a hell of a lot better than the positions of the current occupant of the Mayor's office!

Proofreader: Thank you for "getting it."
You know what I'd like to see, besides me winning? More people from the real world, with real jobs, running for office. How about you? Half the City Council comes up for election in 2009 -- the odd-numbered districts. Think about it. I can get more done as Mayor if I've got a City Council whose members are focused on fixing the city rather than currying favor with special interests for their next campaign.

walter, you look like a wet rat, oops sorry for changing the subject again.

so you think that the mayor shouldnt travel, or he shouldnt travel on the taxpayers dime? big difference..

either way, your claims that he is staging photo ops "around the world" for his next campaign is ridiculous...voters dont vote for a candidate based on him or her traveling around the world. When was the last time you saw a mailer that showed a pic of a politician in mexico or japan? never, thats not why they go dip shit.

Face the music idiot, you will NEVER be mayor nor will you ever be a councilmember, you are a HACK and you will stay one.

Watching you post on this blog as if you know something everyone else doesnt is hilarious. You're a small fish in a huge pond and it's awesome to watch you swim around acting like you're some big shark, scaring everyone.

OK, so now its your turn to call me a staffer and how I just changed the subject instead of justifying why the mayor shouldnt travel.

Well, you know what? I'm not a staffer and I did change the subject. I'm just here to remind everyone what a blowhard you are.

Exactly. The travel budget is all about name recognition and positive visual images, the triumph of form over substance.

explain to me how traveling out of the country helps his name ID in California...

if you think he picks up headlines locally, he does, but he gets local headlines everyday, so whats your point?

This is why walter will never win an elected office because he thinks traveling outside the country is how you win campaigns

you are a tard walter

Actually, the Mayor is placing himself in an inferior position by visiting officials in THEIR home turf in their home countries. He could place himself in a superior position by inviting foreign officials to visit him on HIS home turf.

Yep, mister mayor, you've managed to make yourself look smaller than your height, or lack of height!
