Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Sure developers are upset about the new relocation fees for evicted residents passed by the City Council but are they going to do anything about it? Cries for a lawsuit if they've got the cajones to band together and do it. But too many of them are sucking at the public trough to rock the boat I guess.

If Zev asks you for more taxes, remember this post. The County is flush with cash and has more than enough for the basics and lots and lots of pork!

Though they originally sought the legislation, Mayor Villaraigosa and Chief Bratton are backing away from a Gloria Romero sponsored bill that would remove various privacy protections of police officers whom have had accusations wrongdoing made against them. Though both once stood on a dais with Romero supporting the plan, Villaraigosa and Bratton have made themselves scarce and Romero says they are backing weaker language for the bill.

Mayor V is set to give his state of the city speech Wednesday. Site is East Valley High School, identified in a Rick Orlov piece as being in Panorama City, however I believe it's in North Hollywood, a stone's throw from the Mayor Sam Studios.

Why did Chicago get the 2016 Olympics over Los Angeles? According to Mayor V its because they have a lake. Though we do have a river, that even has fish.

Attorney General Jerry Brown has appointed a former AP writer as his new Communications Director.

Addendum for Hotsheet for Tuesday: What is up with the post "Landlord: Rape Me One More Time?" It is extremely insensitive to women to compare rape to government price controls, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Walter Moore originally made this post on Sunday evening, and it magically reappeared tonight under Mayor Sam's login, despite the fact that the first comment was dated more than 24 hours earlier and was addressed to Walter.

What is going on with this blog? The real "hot" story for Tuesday should be this insensitive metaphor (rape is rent control???!!!) and the strange manner in which it has been re-posted.

I would much rather have my daughter own a rent controlled building than be raped. Has Mayor Sam's blog and Walter Moore's candidancy for Mayor finally "jumped the shark?"

You are lying. Walter did not post the article. Use of the word rape is common beyond sexual assault just as murder has multiple meanings. And it is the words of the writer not Walter nor me.

You are an idiot.

What is up with the BS claim that I "originally" wrote this post?! This false claim is yet another example of people who, unable to debate me on the merits, instead resort to name-calling and lying.

Look, if you want to keep rent control because you have a rent-controlled apartment, just say so. Don't make up stuff.

Denver Post

Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, a staunch opponent of illegal immigration, received a big financial boost for his presidential campaign from his home state, but also took in tens of thousands of dollars from Texas and California, according to federal election records.

Tancredo, who officially announced he was running for president two weeks ago, raised nearly $1.2 million from Jan. 1 through March 31.

An analysis shows California leading the way with $60,115 in disclosed contributions to Tancredo. Much of the money came from the southern part of the state. California was followed closely by Colorado with $56,975 and Texas with $26,470.
