Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Some people have wondered about the identity of the anonymous blogger at Los Angeles City Nerd. Having some experience with the practice of anoymous blogging, this old, dead Republican mayor is somewhat interested himself. LAist thinks the blogger may have outed himself by live blogging from Sunday's Saving LA Conference. The suspect: Ken Bernstein, the head of the city's Office of Historic Resources. What say you?
Walter Moore points out that Mayor Villaraigosa has failed to increase the ranks of the LAPD and that the police force has actually grown smaller. This is despite rising city revenues and trash fee hike specifically earmarked for more officers.
Law enforcement in Los Angeles is being stymied with bans on foot pursuits of fleeing suspects. Full Disclosure has a video news blog with three local law enforcement experts analyzing the situation.
When it comes to Neighborhood Councils, what is the definition of a stakeholder? The Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils details about two dozen different types. However, many Council members fear special interest supported busloads of voters showing up to elections and taking over the Councils. Writing at CityWatch, Greg Nelson offers up the prescription to this: increase outreach and larger community stakeholder participation. Makes sense to me.
California lawmakers have moved the Presidential primary from June to March back to June and now want to move it to February 2008. Experts think this could be a bonanza in cash for those who sell ads and political consultants. One expert however disagrees; positing that candidates will economize and rely on free media.
Last week Mayor Villaraigosa and Chief Bratton joined with Motorola to unveil a new wi-fi security system at the City's notorious Jordan Downs public housing project. The system will allow police officers with wireless laptops and handheld devices to access security cameras and law enforcement software applications. Eventually, the network will allow wireless internet access to residents of the project.
Organizers of the "Anti-War" march this weekend in Hollywood might want to spin the event as just regular folks of all stripes coming out to support the troops but protest the foreign policy direction of their country. Reporting from the scene, David Hernandez discovers an anti-Israel, pro-open borders, pro-socialist bent to the event. What any of that has to do with bringing the troops home has me bamboozled. More at Mayor Sam 2.
And finally, Zach Berens writing at LAist reports that MTA's orange color Metro Local buses have been shrunk down to pocket size. That is the agency has licensed the buses' design to popular toy car manufacturer, Matchbox. What's next? Malibu Barbie's Subway to the Sea?

If CityNerd is Bernstein that's a big issue that he is a city official blogging anonymously.

Zzzzzzzzzzz....
While you were sleeping, Mayor -- and Zuma was huffing ice hash -- Richard Alarcon resigned.
Check it out and get back to us.
How did you miss this one?
Zuma Dogg said:
yeah, alarCON stepped down so they can fill his ASSembly seat in May, without having to spend $100,000 on a special election.
But my question is, what is a "caretaker" and I hope it isn't a paid position. But knowing how the desparate, CONcilman operates, I doubt he would care about the community for free. Maybe it will allow him to start accepting money, right away?
Daily News reports that Garshmetti made the shady, no-integrity, opportunity jumper a "caretaker" of the office -- allowing the Tony Manero wannabe to begin serving without being affected by term-limit restrictions.
(CAN THESE CORRUPT F*CKS THINK OF ANY OTHER WAYS TO SKIM SOME OFF THE TOP?)

Good for Walter keeping on the cop issue. These morons on city council find money for everything except what should be the top priority in this city and that's cops. They always REACT after a CRISIS hits instead of being proactive. They would get up off their asses if a terrorist attack happened and then wonder why we don't have enough officers.
Here's an added $200 mil and why the hell don't they give the trash fee hike millions to LAPD for Overtime? IDIOTS IDIOTS IDIOTS
Mayor, council have final say on air rights funds...Law allowing L.A. to sell theoretical space over the Convention Center is expecting to raise $200million for projects...I'm always worried about misuse of city funds," Perry said, "but I do think what helps here is that the funds must be used near the Convention Center."
WHAT A MORON JAN PERRY IS!!! Clowncil misuses funds all the time and she does nothing about it. HYPOCRITICAL IGNORAMOUS.

Doug McIntyre ripped Jack O'Connell a new one this morning about the university fee hikes.
To his credit, he stayed there and took it like a man.
Unlike Jack Weiss who screamed and yelled like a little girl or Antonio who hung up the phone.

Zuma,
It has to be a paid position. Remember what Mayor Sam said that Alarcon was going to lose pay if he resigned so they had to find a paycheck for him for a few weeks.
This is how it was done.

Who is the council member that is going to come out as gay?

Doug was on fire, and accurate as usual. I'm sure O'Connell is used to polite, softball type questions and weak follow ups (e.g., Larry Mantle). Meanwhile the tremendous waste and corruption continues.
And I guess just a measly $1.5 TRILLION ANNUALLY will solve CA's public education crisis. Homeowners, assume the position..

The Mayor and City Council should put a moritorium on Jan Perry's mouth. Every time it opens, something stupid comes out, that is bad PR for the City, and therefore HURTS the City.
Some people are better at writing, some speaking...but in Jan's case, it's neither. And she has a dispicable persona to accompany.
This is the same confused soul, who says no impact study is needed regarding the convention center high density housing they are gonna pile ontop of the convention center because it's not necessary...YES IT IS, Jan. Know we know you make lousy personal decisions in your own life, don't punish the City with your same bad descretion regarding downtown.

Speaking of the identity of anonymous bloggers, the infamous Animal Lover blogger has finally revealed that Ed Boks the General Manager of LA Animal Services was actually behind LA Animal Friends blog. LA Animal Friends was an Ed Boks fan site. Can you imagine the head of a City Department writing his own fan site? attacking his own employees? attacking the activists? attacking the LAPD? Attacking anyone who didn't kiss his ass?
The blog is here with the confession
http://laanimalfriends.eponym.com How long do you think it'll take for the Mayor to fire him?
Anonymous said:
City Officials can't blog anonymously? Deputy Mayor Jimmy Blackman has known that the Director of Animal Services Ed Boks was behind the anonymous blog LA Animal Friends. He hasn't fired him.

Good one Zuma on Perry.
Now I want to know why this Laura Chick N Shit is REFUSING TO AUDIT THE GANG PROGRAMS!!!! She's auditing every other dept. yet even after Connie Rice has said $82 million WASTED Laura does nothing. Chick comes out with yet another audit but still no auditing of the corruption of the gang programs. Isn't the city controller's job to watch out for our money??? She turning a blind eye to corruption and we need to DEMAND SHE AUDIT THOSE GANG PROGRAMS AND KEEP THE ISSUE ALIVE>
CHICK AUDIT OF LAPD FISCAL OPERATIONS CALLS FOR
REORGANIZATION..Releasing an audit with a whopping 52 recommendations, City Controller
Laura Chick is calling for the Los Angeles Police Department’s Fiscal Operations Division
to be reorganized.

You mean Laura is allowing gang bangers who run the gang programs a free ride to abuse our tax dollars turning a blind eye and auditing everyone else? What's up with that? This is a perfect issue for Zuma Dogg to get on and Walter what's your take on why she's not auditing the programs?
Anonymous said:
If Laura Chick thinks she's going to run for Weiss' seat she should think again. NO way will the people in District 5 want a city controller who can't do her job and is covering up mis use of tax payer money. Who is Laura covering up for???? Could it be our politicians who have received money from the gang programs and their contractors? LA Times and LA Weekly stated YES but they only touched on the service. David Zahniser I hope you find the truth for us.

Do not be so hard on Jan, she is in her last two years in office. Prop R to Court on 4-11.
Eric, Janice, Ed, Jan, Jack, and now Richard, start working on your letters of reference.

Someone reported that 26 contractors from a certain gang prevention-intervention program gave Antonio money for his mayoral campaign and to other city council members. That's your answer why Laura Chick Shit won't touch them.
