EDUCATION AND POLITICS IN LAUSD

Coming to a High School near you, if it hasn't already, is the "NEW LOOK OF EDUCATION" in LAUSD. Refer back to the photo for a moment. Taken during the "WALKOUTS/DITCH DAY" for immigration reform. Teachers were some of the biggest supporters of the students grievances. "SOCIAL JUSTICE ACADEMIES" are sprouting up on campuses throughout LAUSD. This the result of views espoused by some on the "UTLA POTIBURO" that "PUBLIC SCHOOLS NEED TO BE IN THE FRONT IN BRING ABOUT SOCIAL CHANGE".

Yet what are the cost of these views of Public Education ? One cost is "TOLERANCE" for viewpoints that run counter to the "LEFT-WING ADVOCATORS". Witness what has transpired at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights. Students and teachers in the JROTC Program, met with derision from teachers who espoused a "Anti-war" viewpoint. One teacher went so far as to ridicule a student in uniform. This is while wearing a T-shirt with "Che's Face"(maybe the student should of ask the teacher how many people Che killed in the name of the Revolution). Administrators are caught ion the middle in trying to maintain a balance in the dialog. One Sylmar High School teacher sued the Principal after he was reprimanded for having his student watch Michael Moore's "9-11" at a Coffee Shop off campus.

More egregious is when School Board Members enter the Frey. Board Member Monica Garcia, who will have a vote to renew, or not renew the Charter for Academia Semillas del Pueblo, has interjected "ETHNIC ADVOCATION" into the discussion of the Academia Controversy. One could surmise from Monica's comments, that if "PANCHO COULD BANG THE DRUMS AND CHANT SI SE PUEDE" then that should be cause for Charter Renewal. Test scores withstanding.

All this aside, it wasn't long ago that a certain family, living in a housing project in Boyle Heights, saw all their children go on to Ivy-League educations. So why are the education "MOVER AND SHAKERS" dumbing down standards ? Why are free expressions and ideas under attack by the "ADVOCATORS ELITES" ? Sadly as Los Angeles becomes a "ONE PARTY CITY". The elites would love nothing more than having "THE MASSES" not hold them accountable for their accumulation of power and money.

We as Angelinos must ensure that a School District, "THAT EDUCATES, NOT ADVOCATE" is what will meet the needs of our youth. "EDUCATION LEADS TO INTEGRATION". But more important, a school like what SOCRATES learned the craft to question, is what will enable the leaders of tomorrow, to find solutions to issues. Thus ensuring that our "TOMORROWS" will lead to a better future.

Is there some sort of a MAYOR SAM STYLE BOOK that requires posters to use ALL CAPS for NO APPARENT REASON?

Or is Zuma just posting with a sock puppet now?

Free speech in school only applies to people with left leaning ideas. People with right-wing ideas don't deserve to have free speech, they will only spew hate. Hate can't be tolerated. As long as we are against hate speech right-wingers can't speak. I wish it were like this everywhere not just at schools. Talk radio and Fox should be shut down, we can't allow hate speech. This is not limiting the first amendment it is protecting the first amendment. Hate speech is not protected speech.

Sorry but "Hate speech is protcted speech". Hate speech must be protected. It is our rights as Americans. I did not agree with the "American Nazi Party" ; the KKK, the Al Queda, but as Americans, they had a right to demonstrate in Pasadena and Skoke, Illinois and hundreds of other cites in the US. I do not agree with the them but good thinking prevailed. No matter how much we m dont like other persons to expound their thought; they have a right to say it; and I will defend their right to say it to my death.

I love the folks who march with the Mexican flag; they do so much damage to their cause it far outshadows whatever they are trying to accomplish.

Kinda reminds me of the fool in the watchcap and dark glasses, that always looks like he needs a shave and a bath.

Some people just never learn.

The teachers at Roosevelt High are attacking the ROTC students should be fired. These teachers don't have a dress code and wear anti-war t-shirts and humiliate the ROTC students. They are violating the civil rights of these students. The ROTC program at Roosevelt does not encourage the students to join the military. On the contrary they teach these students about leadership, self esteem, high education. ONly 2 who graduate go on to the military. 80% go on to college with scholarships. There are 10 teachers who are trying to shut down the program. These poor students are pressured to join gangs and yet they have made a choice and volunteer to do flag ceremonies, events etc. and get slammed for their dedication. LAUSD should be ashamed.

Junior ROTC takes a hit in L.A.
At Roosevelt High, a coalition of teachers and students works to end the program, and its numbers are dropping.www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-jrotc19feb19,0,6914786,print.story?coll=la-home-headlines

The onely reason LAUSD'S Education Sucks is because majority of Latino's arent paying attention to their childrens performance at school.

Instead parents let them boycott and ditch school. What are these kids boycotting? Instead they should become successful professionals just like the other nationalities who come from immigrant backgrounds, example:Asians, Jews and Europeans.

WHO CARES ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IT IS ALREADY FIXED IN STONE! CONCENTRATE ON TODAYS PROBLEMS, MENSOS.

I have to say there are some very ignorant comments from some of the readers. I am tolerant of all people, more than that, I love all people and it surprises me still, how much Mexicans are hated here. I do agree that there is a problem with LAUSD but ALL schools in general have a flaw when it comes to K-12 education: these schools are meant to teach our kids nothing about how to get along in life. Even Higher Education is a commodity that comes with status depending on where you are accepted. I have decided to home school my kids and not have them go through the crap of being brainwashed for 12 years only to become some fucken stiff who works a 9-5 and pays taxes to a bunch of crooked politicians. I hope some of you will take the time to read this article:

I think some of you will appreciate it.
