Thursday Thread

The City Council has decided that workers in one industry in one small part of town deserve a "living wage." For all other workers, tough darts.

Blog away, and remember, this is Thor's Day.

What industry and what part of town?

Everyone has been joking about what idiots the clowncil members are but this is really getting serious with their stupidity and the things they're passing in council. Why only that part of town?? There are hundreds of businesses exploiting employees why not have a standard ordinance across the board? Can't these employees sue the city for LAX area getting preferential treatment and if I were a white person making minimum wage or less sue discrimination because the majority of those workers at LAX hotels are mexicans?

I almost threw up when I got an e-mail stating LA mag has a airbrushed photo of Antonio on the cover. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT AND TELL EVERYONE NOT TO BUY THE DUMB MAG.

So this other group that gets the "living wage"...how many of them donated to the last round of Assembly and Senate candidates? And did they donate to the Clowncil's campaigns as well? What about the others who have to suffer with darts? Did they donate to any of the above campaigns?

I'm the guy who posted earlier about hearing no end of grief from by sister and her husband about not voting for Hahn. I'm also feeling rather used and abused. After what happened in the elections last week, these guys are on a roll, out of control and know that our hands are tied to do anything about them.

What it's going to take is something to totally bring this City to its knees. Maybe if everyone went on strike together? Staffers all called in sick on the same day? And the thing that totally chills my nads is that the mayor will probably ignore the whole thing and get some of his buddies to throw money around.

And yes, sister dear, you and that moron husband of yours were right. Are you happy now?

Well, Weiss just got his a*! handed to him by McIntyre. The more Jacko tries to rationalize or justify getting scammed for $2.7 million, the more foolish he sounds.

Don’t Get Fooled Again
One of our favorite parlor games here at L.A. Sniper headquarters is imagining, in a perfect world, which one of the 15 Mighty Egos, a.k.a. L.A. City Council members, might be the first to be indicted. Our newest nominee: Tony Cardenas for blatant violation of public trust. Over the strenuous objections of City Administrative Officer Bill Fujioka, who pointed out the obvious — that competitive bidding saves money — Cardenas got his unindicted co-conspirators to go along with his plan for a no-bid sale of some $500 million worth of bonds needed for the new LAPD headquarters. Thirty percent of the booty from this stinks-to-high-heaven deal goes to E.J. De La Rosa & Co., a firm where high-profile City Hall lobbyist Fernando Guerra is a senior vice president.

Looks like Councilmember Jack Weiss is 0-for-2 on radio attempts to give a credible explanation for racial discrimination present in LAFD settlement (i.e.,"gift"). McIntyre was really "on" and brought out so many relevant points that Mr. Weiss decided not to stay online after the commercial break to finish the interview.

I give him credit for just coming on radio, but many "discredits" for thinking that what he says is something we, the public, will buy. He spent his time entirely avoiding answers to real questions, and criticizing the "talk radio"format as apparently having no validity when it comes to the public's opinion.

Mr. Weiss was pretty much poised as a speaker, but the content was very much b.s.

Interestingly, Mr. Delgadillo, a key person here, does not come on the radio, but I can't blame him. Only bad things will come of talking to anyone on the air.

A self-serving press conference is coming up today about "sure winners" that R.D. has chosen to pursue. I would like to hear a question about THIS settlement brought up by any news person right there.

Some have mentioned the idea of RECALL. Maybe more should.

Un momento please.

The Mayor takes 65 million from public employees pension fund to create housing for nurses, firefighters, and others. The first time buyers earning 80%-200%? And Mayor said this investment was in response to failed Prop H? In other words, Prop H was NEVER intended to be AFFORDABLE HOUSING for those in need. It is affordable housing for top earners in Los Angeles. Geez, I want affordable housing help and I earn $100k+

What on this Gods earth is our Mayor drinking these days?

Read this:

"The for-sale housing will be aimed at first-time buyers earning from 80% to 200% of the region's median income. Among the for-sale projects funded by Genesis I was Puerta del Sol, a 165-unit condominium loft development where the city and Genesis officials announced the new fund Wednesday?
