Enemies list at D.O.N.E???

As many Neighborhood Council folks know, the current "Interim General Manager" of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment Lisa Sarno has come under increased heat for what is being described as her "adversarial" attitude toward Neighborhood Councils.

In fact, Sarno is rapidly becoming known in the City for two things; inserting the phrase "if you will" into virtually every sentence she says, and being a real pain in the backside to Neighborhood Council leaders. While the former is fun at first and eventually irritating to watch, it is the latter that has got her in ever-rising hot water within the ranks of the LANC system.

Currently, Sarno is rumored to be compiling a detailed list of virtually every allegation against any Neighborhood Council member, supposedly for our favorite ass-clown Jack Weiss. More than one NC member has told the Sister City that DONE is compiling an "enemies list" of activists who have dared to confront DONE.

So just what in the hell is going on over at the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment? And more importantly, how long is the mayor going to let this situation deteriorate?

Sarno is currently the subject of a no-confidence vote circulating across the city's NC system, has over 50% of all NC elections being delayed and has failed, for the first time in DONE's history, to hold the semi-annual "Congress of Neighborhoods" for NC members. Add to that her apparent animosity towards NC Boards and what appears to be her keen desire to put NC's "in there place" and you have a volatile mix.

Which brings up the alleged "enemies list". The list allegedly contains the names of well-known NC activists including Jason Lyon, Jim Alger, Brady Westwater, Dan Weisman, Ken Draper and more. Now from where I sit, these probably aren't a cast of characters I would want gunning for me if I were in Ms Sarno's position.

My bigger question is this: assuming this is true, What in the name of all that is holy is Lisa Sarno thinking? And what part of "Neighborhood Empowerment" are they missing at DONE?

It's called, "collective bargaining"

In the future, she will leverage the information to her benefit

Not sure how she could use unsubstantiated email allegations to her benifit.

Besides, that is exactly what is wrong with this city.

Lisa, Please add my name to that list. Sounds like great company to be with.

WHY, these are many of the SAME NC "leaders" that enegineered the STUNNING "grass roots" defeat of Prop R.

YES, oh, yes, Lisa, run in fear.

(Sorry, I should have said "glass chin" farce of an "anti" campaign that made NCs a laughing stock of the city). Those "gunning" in thise case, have never fired anything but blanks.

Sarno's a buffoon, but she looks downright states-person-like compared to these impotent gadflies.

This is by far, the worst post Councilman John has written besides the one with the ludicrous endorsements.

The more of a beating Lisa takes, the more NC members who like her (and sorry to inform you haters, but she has tons of friends with the NC system too) are pushed farther away from the haters.

I find it incredibly stupid that the NC crowd would direct so much animosity to someone who is temporary.

EVERYONE is "temporary" by definition. The question becomes how much damage can they do while they are in place.

Sarno is doing her level best to destroy public participation in Neighborhood Councils. There are too many problems, and too many reports for it to be a coincidence.

Just because she hasn't muddled in your particular NC's affairs doesn't mean she is your friend. Perhaps you should stick together... but wait that is what is wrong with NC's... you're too easy to divide.

First of all, nobody that I know "hates" Lisa Sarno. But c'mon, an enemies list?

Let's see how much you support Lisa when she drags the entire system, you included, through the mud. Oh wait, she already has which is why so many NC's want her to go.

Perhaps you should attend some BONC meetings and figure out what your talking about before you offer such blind faith.

Yeah, Sarno should be shaking in her boots at the prospect of being criticized by the mighty "white male caucus" that so effectively defeated Measure R.

Get real.

Sometimes it's hard to tell which planet you guys live on. Anyone with a clear head who was at this week's BONC meeting knows their new leadership promised to work closely with NCs, be accessible, and so on. We'll see how that works out, but it certainly is different than the picture you paint.

One person, well known for having exactly the opposite of a clear head, fabricated his own re-casting of what happened at the meeting and sent it around town Friday via e-mail. That guy is painting himself into a corner from which he'll probably never escape, but that's his business.

If you all don't like having City Hall insist that NCs behave lawfully, function inclusively and do more than argue amongst themselves about who gets to hold onto the keys to the rest rooms, you can always de-certify and do whatever you damn well please. Nobody will tell you what to do, and even fewer will care...

Lisa Sarno has always been her own worst enemy. She was arrogant and dismissive of others when she was a Council deputy, and now she has position where she can showcase these leadership flaws to the entire City. Plus she is just not very bright.

The only reason Lisa aka Gabbage Patch" Sarno is still interim manager is because Antonio owed her for all the campaigning she did in CD 14 while a staffer on city time. Ask any CD 14 constituent how she acted with them and you'll hear nothing but negative comments. The city clowncil really went at her at a meeting because she was hindering elections. Then the NC's No on Prop R came out and Antonio extended her assignment to 6 months to kiss ass to clowncil for their support on Prop H. Are you still with me? Say what you want about No on Prop R but let's face it without any money and no mailers political consultants are saying they did pretty good getting over 226,000 to vote NO. Sarno is indeed not liked by many volunteers citywide and does not know how to interact with people. She's very condensending, arrogant and says Antonio's name every chance she gets. Now she just needs to come out of the closet.

I was roaring when I read that CJ because it is so true. I counted 18 times at the Alliance meeeting this morning. We should start a drinking game to Sarno reruns!

Is she gathering credible allegations of inappropriate conduct by NC's or making an enemies list. Which is it? All inappropriate conduct should be investigated to ensure the success of the NC system. Each of these alleged enemies should welcome a review.

If any of these guys are corrupt, they should be removed by DONE.

Corrupt??? How can someone with NO POWER be corrupt?

That is almost funny. NO NC member has EVER been found to be in violation of ethics rules. Now, can the City Council say that?

Oh, and Lisa herself calls it her "enemies list"
