Wednesday Open Thread

"R" is for "rat." Measure R got its misleadingly bland title restored yesterday by the Court of Appeals. Thanks for nothin', fellahs. So much for the excellent ruling by Judge O'Brien.

Cardenas was fined $3500 yesterday by the Ethics Commission for accepting excessive contributions in 2001.

Mayor Sam is apparently very busy, and Teacher has to get to school, so blog away, dum dums.

BOARD BANS SIGNING OF SCHOOLS BILL AT L.A. CAMPUS...Times Staff Writers

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa won't be able to get on campus during school hours to sign legislation giving him substantial authority over the city's public schools.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Unified School District board — which opposed the legislation and is expected to file a lawsuit over it — directed staff to keep the signing ceremony off school grounds during the school week. The mayor and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had planned to stage the event at Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights.

The Roosevelt principal is very uncomfortable about the safety of kids and protecting the students during an event of this magnitude," said school board President Marlene Canter.

Everyone send e-mails to Rocky and tell him thanks for being a hypocrite. Did anyone find out how much taxdollars was spent on the appeal process?

What the judges basically said is if you're sneaky enough to put language its ok.

Daily News...the ballot title need not be the `most accurate,' `most comprehensive,' or `fairest' that a skilled wordsmith might imagine," the judges wrote in their opinion....

..the original ballot language drafted by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo's office had specifically said that Proposition R would lengthen term limits to three terms, however the council rewrote the language to say the measure would "change council member term limits to three terms." Despite early opposition, Delgadillo's office is now representing the city in court and has argued that the court should defer to the council's choice of language.

MEMO TO THE "HATE ARNOLD DAILY TIMES"

Introducing the new "WASTE OF A SPACE AWARD" this title was inspire by Sports Scribe Helene Elliot who was responding to T.J. Simers Page Two column. As with most Times scribes, she gets it wrong.

Todays First "WASTE OF A SPACE AWARD" goes to, Erin Aubry Kaplan. In the spirit of recycling, Scribe Kaplan regurgitates the NEWSROOM TALKING POINTS, feigning indignation over the KENNEDY REPUBLICAN's comments. Note to Scribe Kaplan, where was your outrage over the abuse of children at the Forshay School Political Rally? That is a story that needs follow up. By the way Times, who will be "FROG MARCH" out of the P.R. Firm on Spring Street for their role in "HOTTIE AUDIOGATE"?

FROM ZD's INBOX (zd@zumadogg.com):

ZD,

I'm just discovering you and all the great stuff on MayorSam. I feel like I struck pay dirt!

I, like all of my friends and relatives, are sick to our stomachs over Villagrossa and his Mexican mafia, but we don't know where to turn. You have given us hope that our voices will be heard.

Number One ISSUE is VOTER FRAUD!!! What can we do to eliminate all of the friggin' illegals who are voting, not to mention the unfair districting apportionment? And, as you pointed out, no one checks ID and these bastards just walk in and look at the register and pick a name off the list...and vote!

One of my tenants in a hispanic neighborhood told me that there is a MASSIVE door-to-door voter registration going on in ALL the barrio districts, and they don't ask for ID, AGE, Legal Status...nothing!!!!!!! And they are being paid to canvas the districts!

And....BEWARE OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS...they won't even have to show up at a polling location!

This is a de facto war...and most of the residents of So. Cal. don't even know what's going on! When they wake up...it will be too late!

My solution would be a Villagrossa recall...it only takes 250,000 signatures on the petition. Hal Netkin (LA Watchdog) has started one, but I don't know how many signatures he has.

We have so much sh*it on Villagrossa...we could bring him down with a feather!

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks for all you are doing, ZD!

Don't go soft on these guys!

[Very excellent 2 cents! Will post as a full story, soon. ZD]

Wham, bam, thank you lady justice.

My fellow NC boardmembers, (especially the amateur loudmouths pretending they "rep" someone at home), were just foisted into their own spitoon of legal mumbo jumbo.

Back on the ballot was the jab, this is the right cross.

Down for the count, and since these screamers can't count past two (the highest percentage of votes any of them have in thei neighborhoods) its over -- unless some sugardaddy (not the out-of-town term-limits cultists), piles on some big bucks, the wannabe NC members will just have to go back to their barely-elected NC boards and say, "hey, how about we address some LOCAL concerns for a change."

NAHHHHHH, let's face it, the "I'm-next-in-line" to run for city council NC rock-throwers won't even bother showing up for work in the community if they don't think it's a stepping stone to a downtown office and a six-figure salary.

Word to the wise, in NCs all around the city, STOP ELECTING low-achieving attorneys who are tired of (or BAD at) chasing ambulances as your board members... they're just doing an "Antonio" and looking for the next gig.

I know that post was contraversial. Since you say, "With all the other stuff you post here", I think you are saying, "I'm covering a lot of other important/non-racial issues."

So since you gave me that, I WILL stick to those kinda things -- especially since EVERYONE else talks about the immigration issues -- so, hopefully, I bring attention to the things you don't see or hear elsewhere:

However, this DOES relate to stealing elections -- which I am concerned as HECK about. AND, for all the "other sh*t" I post here, I hope it shows, this was only ONE post, out of hundreds -- because I DO get a lot of this kinda feedback, but I let other people handle it, cause there are plenty out there doing so. But, I did want to show this argument/voice that a lot of people express, as it relates to fixing/stealing the elections.

I kinda feel bad about the name-calling nature of the post...I DO NOT have the ability to remove comments. But, don't worry, I'm not gonna be going down that path here in the future - and I'll be more aware of editing out the more personal attack portions of the posts, as I HAVE been doing.

They're supposed to be CLOSER to the ground level, CHANNELS for the vote of the people, and (some, anyway), immediately wanted to cork the channel.

Because their think they're SMARTER than their stakeholders (yes, they do), because they KNOW theire stakeholders aren't ON BOARD with the NCs yet.

It's not a representative democracy when the NCs hide from their stakeholders, and try to avoid getting booted out by just not doing a outreach. Until the NCs represent something like even a large minority (that ain't 1 percent) of the people, they don't get to speak FOR them.

To the person saying, "keep posting dogg/continue to marginalize myself".

You may think it hurts me to speak out against Mayor V./Numnez because they are hispanic. Is that your point/some people's point?

If you listened to your own constituents you would know the people who elected them into office, who they are supposed to be representing are outraged that city money for the community itself is constantly being diverted away from those it is allocated to help.

Don't worry though, Wendy Greuel, Jack Weiss and Bill Rosendahl have been addressed by me this week, as well, and they are not hispanic.

I know you are fighting to protect the public perception of shady, corrupt politicians, but, I hate to break it to you, just because someone is of a certain cultural background, doesn't mean they are represent the best interests of "their people" -- and it doesn't mean they are not as shady and corrupt as every other shady and corrupt politician, of there are are too many of ALL cultural backgrounds. It's a POLITICIAN problem, not a CULTURAL BACKGROUND problem. So when I am attacking a politician, in this case, it's because allocated money isn't naking it to the communities it is intended for. But go watch Billy Madison for that scene with the guy from "West Wing" where he loses the "Ethics Challenge" against Zuma Dogg, I mean Sandler.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen:

I delivered on my promise. For those of you who complain about my prose, methink's you didn't read all of it or anyone else's posted message fully. It was in there, like buried treasure. (Rolling of eyes) I s'ppose that for some of you sots you must be hand-led to the water, yet I have seen you swill the Kool-aid like it was PR rum.

If you MUST have a name, then go ask the one who is a FONCINO. Clever sots, figure THAT out!

Yo ho ho and a bottle of a rum! (Removes hat and gives you the bird)

Aye, maties! You seems to not get the point (not me sword point)( that power, like gold, corrupts a man's soul. Measure R is an attempt to get more power. Two terms at the helm is enough- any seadog can tell you that. A third term invites corruption. Vote NO on Measure R!

Jackoff? Is that you? I thought you were press ganged to the Russian Navy. But here you are and still as hot as a trollop in the Clowncil's chambers! (Removes hat with big grin) And thanks for the bird, twill make a fine supper dish!

You're right, you old codger. Two terms at the helm is all a man needs. Any more will cause a mutiny, savvy? Only a sot would vote YES on Measure R. Vote NO on Measure R or walk the plank!

Say Jackoff, how is Yelena? I heard she changed her name to Gloria became a politician. True?

Methinks (NO, meknows) the pirate is incomprehensible (and wrong).

Maybe this is why the sub-1 percenters that preen as NC leaders can't get people involved at home. If their communication skills suck the big one!

Put up, or shut up, bad-prose- for-brain.

In plain English . . . he who "hints" don't know shite!

I don't get a damn dime for making you look bad, in fact it takes times away from my job in the private sector, but it's a token of my love (for the City of L.A.)

You however, appear to get an (additional?) buzz from making yourself look totally brain-dead ("GEE, I wish I'd have THOUGHT to edit out all that RACIST stuff, first . . . DUH!")

But the kicker is the follow-on explanation. . . "You should see all the horrible crap I edit out from e-mails sent to me before posting them, usually"

What DOES that say of the ZUMA BEE-otch fan club and pen pals? Mostly rabid racists and ever-faithful alums of the 51-50 club.

Yes, that's it! In a NUT-of-of-its-shell! Bada Bing!

NC Congress Hosts General Assembly Saturday:
Garcetti Featured on Why NCs were Bypassed
Open invitation: The main reason Neighborhood Councils are upset about
the proposed billion dollar affordable housing bond issue is that while
numerous powerful interests were invited to draft and vet the proposal,
the only group the City Charter mandates the city consult with –
Neighborhood Councils - was completely ignored.
To deal with this issue, City Council President Eric Garcetti has agreed
to come to the LA NC Congress’ first ever General Assembly. He will
discuss with NCs how to make certain NC's will be included in future
bond issues and how they can be involved with this bond issue should
it pass.
After the General Assembly, there will be breakout sessions of the first
committees being organized by LANCC – Arts and Culture, Planning and Land
Use and Transportation.
--Brady Westwater, Chairman
LA NC Congress
Saturday, September 16 (1:30 p.m.)
LA City Hall in Hollywood
6501 Fountain (Two blocks West of Vine)
Council President Eric Garcetti featured (beginning at 2 p.m.)
LANCC delegates will host. All NC members and public invited.
