Mayor's Allies/Spokesman Being Public Crybabies Over New LAUSD Efforts

FIRST OF ALL, Y'ALL...This isn't the ONLY important story in today's LA DAILY NEWS.

Go to www.DailyNews.com and see the story about "Whiskered Councilmen Return...", because they gave Big ZD a really sweet mention. Thanks Rick Orlov, even though you don't need my thanks. (I'll post it under "comments" on this story.)

But now, about this malintented Mayor, whose people are running around like crybabies in the media for not getting credit over LAUSD efforts to reduce dropout rate. WHAT THE "F" DO YOU WANT MAYOR? FOR LAUSD TO FIX THE SCHOOLS, OR NOT? OR ONLY IF YOU GET THE CREDIT FOR YOUR POLITICAL CAREER?

Reform Burst at LAUSD
BY NAUSH BOGHOSSIAN, Staff Writer
[ZD comments in these parenthesis]

Los Angeles Unified School District officials rolled out a new program Tuesday that critics said was implemented hastily in response to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's school-reform drive. The newly announced expansion of the district's vocational-education program is designed to stem the tide of dropouts, as well entice to those who have left school to return and earn their diplomas.

Although city officials commend the district's recent dropout-prevention efforts, THEY say [The Mayor's crybaby spokesman, concerned the Mayor won't get the credit he DOESN'T deserve] -- the programs could have been implemented years ago and are only in response to Villaraigosa's efforts to change the governance structure of the district and gain a greater role by overseeing schools. [It shouldn't be such a rare occasion that something positive happens because of the Mayor. You make it sound like LAUSD should be critized for acting on the Mayor's "efforts". But then why have something good happen for the City, if the Mayor doesn't get to do it, or at least get credit, for it?]

Nathan James, a spokesman for the (crybaby) mayor. "This announcement is a direct result of Mayor Villaraigosa's leadership in raising the issue of dropouts and advocating for fundamental school reform." [O.K., already. Where do I go to kiss the Mayor's feet?]

The quick succession of reform efforts has raised eyebrows among city leaders, who say the district made them a priority only in response to Villaraigosa's efforts.

City Controller Laura Chick, a Villaraigosa ally, said the district's recent effort to slow its dropout rate is disingenuous. [HOW DARE YOU, LAURA CHICKEN CALL ANY EFFORT TO IMROVE LAUSD, "Disingenuous!!!" JUST FOR THAT I'M GONNA POST ALL THE SHADY REASONS THE MAYOR, REALLY, WANTS CONTROL OF LAUSD...$20 2/3 BILLION IN FACILITIES MONEY AND A BUNCH OF OTHER MONEY FOR LAUSD HE IS GONNA HAVE TRANFERED INTO HIS "GENERAL FUND". NOW WHAT, CHICK!] I have watched LAUSD basically ignore and completely under-resource the whole issue of students not going to school, becoming chronic truants and then true-blood high school dropouts. To pretend this has been a priority item that they have been hard at work on is disingenuous at the least and it's not the case," Chick said. [If you EVER see the name, "LAURA CHICK" on a ballot...vote for the other name! MANY more reasons why, coming soon. Now go audit some Neighboorhood Councilmembers who disagree with your muppet master, Mayor Villagrossa.]

For others, like Councilmen Dennis Zine and Bill Rosendahl, the time off provided a chance to get away - Zine to Hawaii and Rosendahl to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

phones, television or newspapers," Rosendahl said. "It gives you a chance to realize there is a life without being plugged in."

For the council, it also was a return to some of its critics.

Most notably, the council was serenaded with a rap song by Zuma Dogg, the homeless gadfly who managed to tie together criticism of the council's absence with illegal immigration and urging people to vote in the upcoming Nov. 7 election.

[It was a rock song, not a rap song...for all the wigger hatas. And I was urging people to watch the polls for election fraud, but I'm sure Rick couldn't really print those charges without nvestigating it himself...So Rick, thanks for cleaning it up, so you could include me in your article.]

ROMERO, NUNEZ, DELEON AND PADILLA WALK THE PLANK IN NOVEMBER. The rest walk in March. We'll see who the crybabies are then, savvy?

There will be an "El Grito Celebration" on September 15, 2006 to commemorate Mexico's Independence Day. Mayor AV, Clowncilmember Tony Cardenas and the Mexican Consolute General Ruben Beltran will be hosting the event. The event is at City Hall.

I thought James K. Polk took care of this 150 years ago.

yeah, i heard about that event. it was on the agenda with for a "special fee waiver", so i hope it's open to the public (no admission fee collection, until you get caught), it's in the best interest of the community (not the best financial interests of the organizers) and since any money being raised ISN'T being used to fund the event (since City is "waiving the fee"/picking up the cost)...I hope all the money raised/collected goes to a non-profit within the district.

Not saying it isn't...just hoping!

Captain Jack,

I respectfully request that you attempt to also push the uncouth Gil Cedillo onto the plank. I don't know what his position is on the LAUSD power grab (although I suspect he supports his fellow brigand Villar), but his Ahab-like obession for drivers licenses for illegal desperados is tiring and counter productive.

Yeah, Cedillo is trying to get Arnold to sign yet another bullshit bill that would give illegals some kind of CA id card.

Gotta love Roy Romer for sticking it to our midget mayor today. Romer REFUSED to allow Antonio and Arnold the photo op at Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights. Again Antonio wanted to use the students. Romer said having them there would have disrupted their classes and he's right. What asshole of a mayor would be soooo selfish to think of himself first before the students? Romer said he can have any school on Saturday if he wanted. LOL

Good Evening Anonymous Two (Bows low with flourish and big grin on face):

I would be delighted to add Mr. Cedillo to the plank list. He did in fact support Villabarbosa and S'mee Nunez in the AB1381 debacle. Bugger One Bill Gil.

And what is this I hear about election fraud? There was a rather interesting discussion about this same subject today on KPCC-FM. I would suspect that such a thing will happen again in the various Assembly and Senate races. In fact, there appears to be an advertisement about (Northeast Los Angeles Democratic Club) for a "house party" for Cedillo's colleague DeLeon at the end of the month. Several of the sots were discussing it while I was visiting City Hall. I say we crash the house party and drink up all the rum!

Zuma Dogg...will you take a ride in your Escalade to a party on the Eastside? Methinks you'll find all the plank walkers, sots, Villabarbosa, the vote planners and a few turncoats in attendance, savvy?

(Smiles) Ah, but it's just the frog who is green not I. The only proper color for a pirate is black with skull and crossbones. I survive by being a pirate. However, there are those who think because I have a certain swish in my walk that I am pink, purple or teal.

Oh bugger. Now the sots will rat me out to Queer Eye For The Straight Guy.

A little red mixed in with the blue turns it purple. It's all swish to me.
And what's up with DeLeon and his not living here? Heard he lives in San Jose and Nunez had him carpet bags into the district to run for office and be his puppet. Ya basta!

Of course control over $19 Bn in construction funds is what Antonio really wants. I voted for him against Hahn due to "pay-to-play" activity. Antonio needs to be attacking the gangs - OVER 20 gang injunctions and still the blood flows on L.A. streets. Gangs are one of the reasons kids drop out - some to make $ selling drugs, some because they're afraid to show up at school. Looks like it will be a cold day in Hell before I cast another vote for this lame pol.
