Saturday: Take The Day Off

It's a beautiful day.
You've had enough politics for this week.
Go outside and play with your friends, and see if you can go all day WITHOUT honking.
Enjoy! You live in the best place on Earth!

Yeah, go outside and play with friends and don't forget to tell them VOTE NO ON TERM LIMITS.

Antonio to maybe-strikers: 'Make my day'
Well not exactly, but in so many words Mayor Villaraigosa this afternoon called the bluff of the Engineer and Architects Association. He said that City Hall is ready if the white collar workers strike as threatened next week, and he asked the City Attorney to seek a temporary restraining order against any job action that affects the airports, 911 service or the Bureau of Sanitation. He also contended the EAA is asking for the moon. Bit of a touchy spot for the former union activist who won with the help of labor, but most of the City Hall unions are friendly with the mayor and he had this to say: "I will always respect workers' rights to unionize and advocate collectively. But we can not tolerate any effort to compromise the delivery of essential city services or the safety of the people of Los Angeles."

Well this gadfly obviously knows nothing about politics. Take the day off? What kind of shit is that???

Politics never rests, my dear friend. Just exercise your rights under FOIA, demand a copy of the Mayor's and every CM's GroupWise calendar for the past year, take a look and see when the hell they rest. NEVER! That's how you get into, and hold down, an elected office.

Take the day off, blasphemy! It's 10 o'clock, and before I go to a politically-infested night club, here I am, catching up on the word-of-mouth.

Well I hate ADV (lousy bastard!), but your post contains an inaccuracy:

Kenneth Hahn's son actually received the VAST majority of labor's support when ADV slammed his ass in the last Mayoral election. Most notable was the fortunes that unions like 434b and the Carpenters spent on his sinking ship.

For the unions and ADV, it's all water under the bridge now, I suppose...

To be a little more specific:

Jimmy Boy got the money from the unions because Miguel Contreras had promised him, but the members all supported and voted for Antonio.

That would be a more accurate way of putting it.

And, Antonio got the support because Miguel, who was a close friend of his, had promised Jimmy to give his finincial support.

However, Miguel did allow the separate locals to "decide for themselves" and many did declare for and support Antonio. Like I said, most members voted for Antonio.

Let's see which UNIONS that Antonio claims love him back the EAA. I hope the EAA makes a huge impact. With the Republicans in town it will show if Antonio can't keep his city together how the hell will he have time to also deal with LAUSD.

After reading this, I decided to take off for Venice and didn't end up coming home until 2:30 AM.

Thanks for the great idea...
