"Non-Profits," Continued
The City Council’s Public Safety Committee approved a plan today to pay $1000 -- per head, apparently -- to each nonprofit that "recommends" someone who becomes an LAPD officer. So if we're getting 1,000 "new" officers (not additional, but new), there goes $1 million (1000 hires x $1000 per hire) right there.

They'll never recruit a 1,000 new officers.

They must replace 600 outgoing officers and add 1000 new officers.

Good luck finding those recruits. As long as you have city council members and a police commission who don't support the rank and file why would recruits work for LA? You have cities like Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Manhattan, Culver City and others offering $20,000 more to start and they don't have to put up with the bullshit LA has. No other big city in this nation has a worst reputation for not supporting their cops then LA.
