"Non-Profits," Continued
The City Council’s Public Safety Committee approved a plan today to pay $1000 -- per head, apparently -- to each nonprofit that "recommends" someone who becomes an LAPD officer. So if we're getting 1,000 "new" officers (not additional, but new), there goes $1 million (1000 hires x $1000 per hire) right there.Read all about it at: http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_198153819.html

What happened to traditional recruiting?
They'll never recruit a 1,000 new officers.
They must replace 600 outgoing officers and add 1000 new officers.
1600 New Recruits Minimum.
They'll never recruit 1,600 new officers
I agree.
Villaraigosa Bullshits.
Bullshits
and Bullshits.
Better lay off the bong in college if you have cop aspirations. Ol' Bernie doesn't want ya. Jeff Spicoli would never qualify.
Do the math again !!
1000 x 1000 + ??????
La Cienega Hts community meeting
We calculated the need for 3,000 new cops.
Villaraigosa are you deaf?
Oopsie! Thank you! ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
This is why I should ALWAYS use Mr. Calculator!
I'll fix the post so I don't look quite so math-challenged.
Thanks again. Thanks a million, as it were...
lower the finders fee to $50 bucks, there not worth the thousand-there all lausd edUmaCated!
Good luck finding those recruits. As long as you have city council members and a police commission who don't support the rank and file why would recruits work for LA? You have cities like Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Manhattan, Culver City and others offering $20,000 more to start and they don't have to put up with the bullshit LA has. No other big city in this nation has a worst reputation for not supporting their cops then LA.
Sounds like politically correct payola.
