Lame Idea Du Jour

You know the Republican Party is in trouble when then send out e-mail like the one below -- which they did. In short, they want people to hold birthday block parties for the Gubernator. I am not making this up.

Now, seriously, can you imagine ANYONE holding or attending an event like this? Did they get this out of the Stalin / Hitler / Mao "Cult of Personality" handbook, or what? Anyhow, here goes, for your reading enjoyment:

"Dear California Congress of Republicans Member and Friends,

"Arnold's Block Party!

"It's important that CCR members from around the state host a Block Party for the Governor on his birthday - July 27. He will place a call to YOUR Party and talk to you and your quests about the upcoming election and how everyone can help insure a victory for our Republic Team. What is a Block Party!

"Block Parties remind people of the progress we have made together and the plans we have for building an even better tomorrow.

"Block Parties bring people together to help support the Governor as he protects the California dream and continues to move California forward.

"Block Parties can be hosted almost anywhere - at your house, in your backyard, at your apartment, in the park, around your cul-de-sac, in your community center, or any place where you can bring people together to support the Governor's re-election!

"CCR membership is eager to build a great election team to help take our Republican message to the people. So, join the action and Host a Block Party.

"Make sure you register your Block Party; visit the Governor's campaign web site at http://www.joinarnold.com and double click on the "Block Parties" button.

Carl Burton, President
California Congress of Republicans
Sacramento County Victory '06 Chairman"

Wassamatta Walter? No block? Or, is it just that no one on on your block will party with you?

This is called "broadening the base", or, "grassroots". Have you heard of them?

This looks like a poor first attempt by the state Republican Party to duplicate the very successful house parties of the Howard Dean campaign. Among their successes was breaking the world record for the biggest conference call.

I'm enjoying imagining the Governor's voice ringing from a makeshift PA system in a cul-de-sac.

Hey "link", thanks for the link. I love it that this administration is sending money for Latino voter registration.

Malkin's list of charter schools getting funded brings another smile to my face. I suppose Republicans like her oppose any charter school that has a non-religious agenda.

I love THE MAYOR!

"He grins, displaying perfect teeth. "I started at 5 am. This is a Saturday."
Mr. Villaraigosa, former union organizer, state assemblyman, speaker of the assembly and city councilman, sleeps 3.5 hours nightly and is an over-exerciser. "I do an hour of cardio daily, and one hour on an elliptical machine. I do about 600 crunches every day, but yesterday I did 800. Alternate days, I do 300 pushups, but yesterday I worked out twice and did 500."
He grabs for his ceramic mug of green tea as if it were a life preserver. He believes that drinking lots of green tea--"antioxidants"--is a folk remedy for staying healthy."

Plus trips to here and there, and every photo op in So Cal; who the hell is attending to the business of running this city?

Carl Burton is one of the most ineffective leaders that the Republican mainstream has ever seen. He needs to be organizing his own group first.
