Open Thread for Wednesday

Maxine Waters (born August 15, 1938), United States politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1991, representing the 35th District of California. She resides in South Los Angeles, in the Vermont Square district approximately six miles south of downtown.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Waters attended Los Angeles State College (now California State University, Los Angeles). Prior to her entry into politics, she was a teacher and a volunteer coordinator in the Head Start program. Waters entered the California State Assembly in 1976. Upon the retirement of Augustus F. Hawkins in 1990, Waters was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for the 29th Congressional District. (The district was renumbered the 35th District in 1992 after California gained 7 additional seats in the House after the 1990 U.S. census.)

In addition to her service on the House Banking and Judiciary committees, Waters has served as chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (of which she remains a member). She is also a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Waters has long been considered one of the last great practitioners of urban "machine politics." In September 2005, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) named Waters one of the thirteen most corrupt members of Congress. CREW's designation was largely based on the results of an investigation by the Los Angeles Times into non-competitive awards of federal contracts to businesses owned by or connected to members of Waters' family.

Yeh, but what happens when the machine gets old, more noisy, and is less productive? I would say it's time to get a new model.

See, this is why Americans should fight Illegal Immigration. This story should be the American Dream, instead, it became a nightmare.

Leave Maxine alone! She has done a lot for the district and continues to do so. All the Haters are mostly Latinos who want her power. They talk trash about her, but always want her to sign her name to projects or policies that they are trying to put forth.

Maxine is nothing more than emotional, pms'ing out of control woman with anger issues. She has no class and shouts when she speaks like she's still in the ghetto. She allowed King/Drew to go down the toliet then acts as if she's going to save it. She jumps on the bandwagon for causes at the lats minute making sure she'll get the media attention. There are a lot of people in South LA that can't stand her and states she doesn't speak for us. The corruption in her family is classic.

MAXINE HASN'T DONE SHIT FOR THE PEOPLE IN HER DISTRICT. SHE HAS ONLY BROUGHT HOME CHUMP CHANGE TO THE PEOPLE IN LOS ANGELES. SHE SITS MOSTLY ON SUBCOMMITTEES...WITH LITTLE OR NO CLOUT. SHE APPEALS TO THE KNEE-SLAPPING..1950'S BLACK FOLK WHO ARE FAR FROM PROGRESSIVE. ALTHOUGH SHE DOES PUT UP GOOD FIGHTS, IT DOESN'T TRANSLATE TO FEDERAL DOLLARS FOR PEOPLE IN LA...

Maxine's only one of the MOST CORRUPT people in congress because little Tony hasn't made it UP the hill yet (takes longer when your legs are that short). Also, when you have to detour BACK from Speaker of the Assembly to L.A. city council, just to get a fresh start.

P.S. 6:13 a.m. only wet-behind-the-ears little schoolgirls use hyper-emotional terms like "Haters" to depict people that disagree with them, or who find fault with their childhood heroes.

Wonderful Maxine Waters. Archie is right she is a Cunt. Had the world and politicians by the balls in 1992 after the riots and she spews nonsense and still empty lots.

But folks are waking up to her game and rhetoric, and she will be gone!
