Not everybody appreciated mayor's King Tut lecture
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa had just ushered a group of students from Santa Ana High School into the King Tut exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in celebration of the exhibit's extension for an extra week in Los Angeles....The nearly 15-minute lecture provided by the mayor and a docent, however, was not appreciated by some of those held up by security officers.
The students weren't even from a city high school.
Of course not, It's just like being in Burbank to help "build homes" this is all a set up for when he runs for Governor.
LA Times...Nearly 100,000 seniors haven't yet passed the state exit exam. Is the rite of passage a right?
At least 5,000 of these students are in the Los Angeles Unified School District, which is discussing what to do with students who pass their classes but fail the exam.

On Halloween night police were called to Eagle Rock to shots fired on Loleta. They had to break up a party of about 100+ people. One victim was transported w/ a shot to his torso. The next morning, at 9:05 am, a 2nd victim was found DEAD in the bushes... Who is manning the store?? Where are our CD 14 Reps. now??

In response to 9:06, crime and violence has been rampant since we have had NO representation in CD 14. Take the daylight robberies of our local stores on Eagle Rock Blvd. or the rape of a 95-year old woman on Chickasaw... I cannot wait until our new councilmember is elected so we can finally put an end to all of this and regain our community.
i'll tell you what the problem is, and it isn't CD14 representation. it is only 2 patrol cars at night in the entire northwest division. the cops are throwing the NE to the wolves - some of the worst gang problems and crime in the city, and we get the least cops.
how many patrols at night on the west side or in the valley? i'm sure there are more.
CD14 and CD1 have been f*cked by the police forever - and will continue.

If that is the case then blame the current mayor for not pushing the Sales Tax increase when the Former Mayor proposed it. When this was County Measure A, more than 75% of voters in CD14 wanted it. Instead he's borrowing funds to pay for police officers in areas that already have enough police.
Archie, you forgot to remind everyone how the current mayor was FOR the half cent sales tax before.

There are two divisions in CD14, Hollenbeck (2/3 of CD14, and there are more than 2 cars at night there -- not dozens, but more than just 2), and NorthEAST division, most of which is in CD1 and CD13, not 14.

Yes, that is correct for the COUNTY sales tax measure but not the City Sales tax measure, which would have been approved over the 2/3 threshold.
10:08 - you forgot to mention is that on the westside and in the west valley you don't have a rash of white people killing other white people. Those areas have had a decrease in officers to boost the numbers in south and east LA. And just to keep the facts straight, CD14 has LONG had a gang and violence problem, way before AV and even Pacheco.
Archie, your ignorance is showing again. The half-cent sales tax that was nearly approved by county residents would have affected every LA County city. A local city sales tax would have placed LA Businesses at a disadvantage against similar businesses in nearby cities. LA residents would have shopped in those cities for the same goods. This would have HURT our tax revenue.
Don't worry, we all realize that you're stupider than you sound.

Put you are a lot stupider by not realizing that a county measure will never pass for the same reasoning that other smaller safer cities don't want higher taxes only to pay for police and sheriff that will be predominiate in the City of LA.
BTW, a local sales tax measure in LA would actually keep businesses here because those funds are dedicated for that service. It would actually balance out.
