GOTV Weekend
With all the talk of hit mail, polls, last minute attacks, and last minute stunts, GOTV weekend has arrived and the fun begins. It is time for the rhetoric to stop and the candidates to roll up their sleeves and drag every last voter out of their homes and into the voting booths.While we strongly endorse Nick Pacheco in CD 14, we wish all of the candidates luck in their final weekend.
The outcome in CD 10 may be in the bag, but CD 14 is in for a wild ride. Odds are against a 50% plus 1 victory on Tuesday with 10 candidates in the race. Smart money bets on a runoff showdown between Pacheco and Huizar in a January 31 vote.

Was on my way to Huizar's office, this post and many others changed my mind. I'm headed to another candidates office.
I've been a long time Huizar supporter, but I just don't think he's ditinguished himself in any meaningful way to earn a promotion. I don't know who I am voting for, but it isn't Huizar.

Steve Hymon of LA Times did a good story today. He stated the facts that Huizar is bought and paid for by UNIONS. Pacheco on the other hand is being supported by the REAL PEOPLE of the district. Funny how Unite Here didn't support any other candidates this year except Antonio and Jose. I know a lot of residents who are so angry at Jose for LAUSD they have never ever gotten involved in a campaign but this weekend will be walking for PACHECO. Jose has nothing to offer except being a puppet to Antonio and his lapboy.

Just flipped three more Huizar's on the precinct list back to Pacheco, with phone calls. They already received the nasty hit mailers from Huizar. The last one with the grainy black-and-white pic of Nick on the front did the trick for two of them. One said she was a Villaraigosa admirer and the images reminded her of Hahn's grainy crack pipe ad on TV 4 years ago, and completely turned her off -- endorsement or not.

Experience, solutions, tenacity, knowledge, community grassroots support, and results make me comfortable. I will vote for Pacheco.

This CD14 race is so important to you guys, because whoever holds that seat will sit on the Ethics and Oversight committee, with the winner of CD10 Herb Wesson.
I wonder why Tony Montana, I mean Antonio Villaraigosa is pressing Huizar so hard, because this will be the final piece in orchestrating his political machine, the most important piece, covering up your lies. Huizar is easily manipulated.
With Pacheco on that committee, he'll see it first hand and can ship Laura Chick and Villaraigosa out on their fannies, when they go for higher office. This ensures that Mayor Villaraigosa stays as mayor and works well for the good of the city.

Huizar was so busy raising money from all his developers for LAUSD he forgot about the real reasons he was on the board, the students and their education!
When kids run home to go to the bathroom, after holding themselves all day-how they can even think in the classroom is beyond me, and there's no hot water in the bathrooms to wash their hands or soap that's a problem. When they are afraid for their lives to even enter the bathrooms, that's a big problem. Our children are not animals.

Instead of buying a parking lot for all the over paid do-nothings who work for the district, who can afford to pay for their own parking the bathrooms throughout the district could have been fixed with money to spare.
Most everyone pays for their own parking who works in LA, or their company gives a partial stipend. The district could have encouraged car pooling and helped the environment. Those employees were there doing nothing anyway, because if they were and you were on the ball Crenshaw HS would have never been in the situation it was losing it's accreditation. And the schools who are also on the brink of having their diplomas deemed worthless would never have happened.

I don't agree with your blogging perception, until I see a study or survey. Thus, most damaging to any campaign are mailers.
This comes from me, a voter.
I'm sure you want to know what I think. You can have all the analysts, consultants, statisticians you want, but what counts is what the average person who does get off their fanny to vote thinks.
This is what I think...the Mailers Alvin sent were damaging to Huizar. It reminded us that people who hold grudges that far back cannot move on in life. It reminded me I would have a stalled government with Huizar. How can we move forward if we have people working for Huizar that are not willing to move on, accept they are wrong for the betterment of all.
The David Sanchez mailers. That one hurt, and it hurt a lot! I understand there are corrupt officials from all ethnic backgrounds not just Latinos, but he put it in our faces, right at our doorstep. And you know whats worst? We knew it all along, but are afraid to speak out and get blacklisted (like the U.S. did to those artist who were accused of supporting communism). Anyways, to see someone as David take extreme measures to do this, shows how we as a community have to wake up and pick our leaders with more intelligence and research. It confirmed our many suspicions about a few in Latino leadership.
Finally we have the Crystal Arceo mailers. This created the most impact. It confirmed David's mailers, what people have been saying at meetings, and our own assumptions to be true and with evidence. Crystal is young, but I know this, she has guts! It takes a young girl sick and tired of career politicians to wake us up. The career politicians who have stepped all over her and the community repeatedly. She is sick and tired. Especially 160 new schools and our Latino leadership failed to bring a new school to Boyle Heights or El Sereno. What does this say? Our kids have filthy bathrooms and did you see the picture of the Huizar developed bathroom at LAUSD HQ? It is a shame. It would be against my moral judgement to vote for Huizar. If you want a future for your students, community and future Latino leadership vote for any other candidate.

I asked some people who had Huizar signs why they were voting for him and they didnt have a clue. They said some young kids brought them by. I asked them name me some accomplishments of Jose and they didn't have a clue. I asked them what did Jose do as prez of school board in 4 yrs and they didn't have a clue. Guess What??? Huizar supporters DON'T HAVE A CLUE.
