Commission Appointments Approved

From the Daily Breeze:

The Los Angeles City Council approved eight of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's nominees to the airport and harbor commissions Tuesday, including a Playa del Rey activist who faced scrutiny because of her involvement in a lawsuit against Los Angeles World Airports.

On a 13-0 vote, the council gave the go-ahead to harbor commission nominees Jerilyn Lopez-Mendoza and Joe Radisich, as well as airport commission nominees Alan Rothenberg, Michael Lawson, Sylvia Patsaouras, Fernando Torres-Gil, Joe Aredas and Valeria Velasco.

Just a little update to our new readers from outside of City Hall...

On Friday, David Freeman's nomination is scheduled. If there are to be any fireworks regarding the Harbor Commission, that could be the day.

But, what do I know? I'm a dead lobbyist.

Unbelievable that Valeria Velasco even though the city attorney stated she would have to recuse herself from certain votes was still confirmed. It just goes to show we have a lame city council who have become spineless and gutless because they're all being pulled by Antonio strings.

We all know the boring stuff on commission appointments. It is all too familiar, friends and families of the Mayor, appointed to important positions of Los Angeles. I just ask that these people can react to any catastrophe. Do you see what happens when you appoint icompetent people to gov. that are friends and family? Look at New Orleans.

There should be a thread called

"What happened to Trujillo, where's Trujillo?"

He is busy fabricating the neighborhood watch groups.

Look at the John Mack fiasco. Mack was with all those Nation of Islam people storming the police commission meetings before when something happened with LAPD. He was one of them who threatened, demanded commissioners to do what they said or else. Now because Antonio owed John Mack he put him on police commission and all hell has broke loose because of it. One of the worst appointments yet. Officers can"t stand AV. He went to a couple of roll calls in the beginning but showed his loyalty to the blacks when Mohammed was arrested. It wouldn't surprise me if they started leaving.

I used to be a proud Democrat, after analyzing the response of my party, playing the blame game, and having no respect for the deceased and homeless, I will change to another party. The Democratic Party has changed, Pelosi had another photo op and whored her way to play games about Katrina instead of her flying out to New Orleans and helping the hungry and displaced human beings. Attn: Pelosi, these people are human beings, not bartering chips for your own agendas. You are a disgrace to us democrats...and I won't be in the party for long.

What accounts for Cardenas' persistent interest in the Velasco case, considering that he is still questioning the lady's credentials following her confirmation?

I wonder what Villaraigosa thinks about Cardenas?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

You are probably the only one that wants to know from an airhead Villaraigosa on what he thinks. I'd rather hear a parrot try to talk than AV, atleast the parrot is not pretending.

How is Chilletas (A. Padilla)
doing?

I give Cardenas credit for at least questioning her appointment and stating in council yesterday that he was concerned. However, having said that they all do exactly what Antonio wants. How sad that we don't have representatives in this city who have a mind of their own.

I think the city council (ie Hahn, Perry, Cardenas) are letting the appointments happen because they know they'll fuck up and leave AV looking like a lame duck.

Val Velasco will be a great Commissioner.

Congratulations Val!

This is one of the smartest things the City Council has done lately.

Thank you Council.

He's pushing for a Padilla endorsement?
Perhaps THEY feel that if they pressure AV, he will give them what they want?

Perry lost her credability when she came out in support of Tony Maohammed at a press conf. instead of the officers. She made the dumbest comments and basically put the city in a liability situtation before an investigation was even started. After the transcripts came out word was she wanted to hide.

And everytime they go into executive session she'll have to excuse herself and go home.

By the way, What did she mean by saying "One of the biggest problems I see with LAX is really a public relations problem" ?

Is she (ARSAC) suing LAWA because of bad PR??

You really thing that is what she was referring to? Yeah right. LAWA wasn't substituting fact with fiction. They were promising what they were saying. Warts and all. Velasco on the otherhand is and always was, and is, substituting fact with fiction.

Noel Park looks like he was in the spin-dry -PR- machine. Ha Ha Ha.
