Softball SD 20 Style

No, this is not the much anticipated Padilla Love Affair Part V. I'll be contacting their office for follow-up on the volume of tips I still have waiting around.

This is about the Labor Day weekend softball game in Van Nuys put on by the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley.

According to the Daily News:
Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez of Mission Hills and City Council President Alex Padilla will be playing hardball next year in the race for a state Senate seat.

But on Sunday, the two Democrats faced off on a softball diamond.

Padilla and Montanez were opposing team captains during the annual Labor Day weekend softball game at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park, a fundraiser for the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley.

Elected officials, community activists, legislative aides, local residents and children all shared a crowded softball field, as families picnicked in the nearby shade and toddlers whacked a pinata with the words "Take a Swing at Republicans."

"The who's who of Democratic activists in the Valley are here, playing in our version of the national pastime," Padilla said before Sunday's game.

Montanez scored an early triumph against Padilla when she hit the ball to him and he dropped it, allowing her to reach first base. But Padilla and his squad members, calling themselves the Dodgers, ended up with a 6-5 victory.

"We only get better from here," Montanez said after her team's loss.

She and Padilla both want the 20th District seat occupied by Sen. Richard Alarcon, D-Van Nuys.
I love that "Montanez scored an early triumph against Padilla when she hit the ball to him and he dropped it, allowing her to reach first base."

Reading into the future maybe?

Was Padilla a "switch" hitter at this game?

So what is the story with Montanez? Is she going to run for State Senate or what?

She's going to run and she's going to win.

Plenty of momentum going for that girl.

Of course Montanez is running and of course shes going to beat that BENDIDO Padilla. By the way, I heard Padilla throws like a little girl, Ackley (Padillas little brother)almost had a heart attack while running to first base, and Khaim (Padillas field rep)cant swing.

Ok, but what if, and say if, Padilla wins, who do you shink should replace him? We need some new blood in the 7th district, and I mean competent, politically astute individuals.

Good luck. I've not seen anyone from
CD 7 that could possibly handle it. I'm sure they'll just have Felipe Fuentes move into the district and run him.

How about Katz? He would work.

Put your money on Cindy being there, if that was to happen. In a million dollar race, and with name i.d., nobody else will hold a candle to her, despite losing. She will still be in office for months and will hand Felipe Fuentes his ass.

What district does Fuentes live in?

I wouldn't mind Cindy moving to the City of Los Angeles and running for DC 7; she just needs a new staff, one that isn't so San Fernando minded; don't get me wrong, San Fernando is shaping up to be a very nice-lookin town, but Cindy needs to tap into some resources who are really familiar with issues in DC7.
