Subject: [SFVYD] Help Plan the LA Mayor's Day of Service

Mayor Villaraigosa is planning a day of service dedicated to youth at North Hollywood High School on Oct. 8.

A wide vareity of community groups are taking part in these events both here in the Valley and at 5 other sites in the city.

As a political group, I think we also have a social responsibility to give back to the community in ways other than elections and political activity.

There is a planning meeting tomorrow Wednesday, September 7 at North Hollywood High School at 4pm. I am planning on attending and I hope that we can send several representatives as well (I hope that DPSFV can send a rep as well).

Mayor Sam why didnt' you post the facts? Antonio who has never supported Neighborhood Councils and made DONE put out a newsletter to all NC's telling them to participate in this citywide clean up. I know of several who are NOT participating because they say their tax dollars are paying for janitors at these schools. This is a ploy AV is using to pretend he's actually doing something in the city. WHY schools? Why not graffitti invested communities, Downtown LA that has trash all over the place?

DONE......The Mayor would like Neighborhood Councils to participate in this effort. If your Neighborhood Council wishes
to participate, and wants to send a representative to the planning meetings, here is a list of the contact people in the Mayor's office:

Actually, I think they're just meeting at the school. From there, they'll be given assignments and areas.

It's a Tony press event. Got to have it at 4:00 to make the 5:00 news - then everybody can go home. What a joke!
