CD 10 Spam Mail
Here's the latest update coming from CD10 from the Wesson campaign (that and I needed an excuse to use this picture again):
The Herb Wesson for Los Angeles City Council District 10 (CD 10) campaign picked up steam through July and ended the month with a bang. Attesting to his strength as a candidate, Herb picked up several endorsements from key individuals and groups in July – the first full month of the campaign. Also in July, Herb became the first to officially qualify as a candidate for CD 10.
ENDORSED BY OPINION LEADERS
In mid-July Herb released a list of endorsements from a distinguished list of elected and former elected officials in Los Angeles and the state. (See last page of this edition.) Since then, Herb picked up additional key endorsements including those of Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congressman Howard Berman, City Controller Laura Chick, former LA Lakers star and entrepreneur Magic Johnson, Assemblyman Paul Koretz, Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, Senator Alan Lowenthal, City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, former City Councilmember Mike Feuer, and AJ Duffy, President of United Teachers Los Angeles.
ENDORSED BY POTENTIAL AND FORMER CANDIDATES
As a testament to his support in the community, Herb gained the endorsement of several community leaders many viewed as potential CD 10 candidates. They include Marsha Brown, Jackie Dupont-Walker, activist developer; Reginald Jones-Sawyer, Vice Chair of Democratic State Party; Armen Ross, Valerie Shaw, Former Chair of the Board of Public Works; Attorney Ted Smith; Attorney Leo Terrell and Deron Williams.
ENDORSED BY LABOR
In July, Herb started to pick up early labor endorsements for his CD 10 campaign. Thus far, Herb has been endorsed by the Teamsters Local 399, Los Angeles Airport Police Officer Association, Airport Police Supervisors, and LIUNA Local 777.
SUPPORTED BY WOMEN
Throughout Herb’s tenure as the Assemblymember for the 47th Assembly District and the 65th Speaker of the State Assembly, he proved to be a strong champion of women and children’s issues. His voting record during his six years in the Assembly shows him to be a solid supporter of legislation important to women and children. He has authored legislation on pay equity, domestic violence victims counseling and education, family planning, mandatory kindergarten and middle school literacy, among others.
As Speaker of the Assembly, Herb demonstrated a sincere and genuine interest in making sure that women were equal partners in the decision-making structure in the Assembly. He empowered women Assemblymembers by appointing them to key positions of power, including the Speaker Pro Tem, the first woman Majority Leader and chairs of several key committees. Half of his leadership team – the group he consulted on the affairs of the Assembly – consisted of women. He created and co-chaired – a rare occurrence for a Speaker – a Select Committee on Title IX to assess how far we have come in promoting gender equity in our schools and how far we have yet to go.! And during some of the toughest fiscal times this state has ever seen, Herb led his caucus in fighting hard for programs that affect the most vulnerable Californians, including its children.
In recognition of Herb’s strong record on women and children’s issues, a group known as Women for Wesson formed in July. With membership from within CD 10 and throughout Los Angeles, this group of women will be advising Herb and will be at the forefront of his CD 10 campaign. Its Honorary Chairs include, Congresswoman Diane Watson, Supervisor Yvonne Burke, Assemblywoman Gloria Negrete McLeod, City Controller Laura Chick, Councilmember Janice Hahn, Councilmember Jan Perry, and former Assemblymember Gwen Moore.
FIRST TO OFFICIALLY QUALIFY AS A CD 10 CANDIDATE
The Wesson for City Council campaign was the first to submit signatures to the Los Angeles City Clerk for the CD 10 seat. On July 29, 2005 – the second day signatures were accepted – the City Clerk certified that over 500 valid signatures have been submitted by the Wesson for City Council campaign. This made Herb Wesson the first official candidate for CD 10.
Stay tuned for more from the Wesson for City Council campaign in the upcoming days.

jesus, the whole reason behind term limits was that shfartzas like this served and then moved on. Now he is gonna be a council member. I guess they wont be needing public transit in CD 10 for a long time.

Herb is a nice guy, but he had a reputation as a weak leader up in Sacramento. In the words of one member: "Herb is the world's only living spine donor."
That's not to say any of the other CD 10 candidates are better, but just so you people in LA know what you're getting.

FUNNY, 7:33 a.m.
Villaraigosa is NOT a nice guy, and HE had a reputation as a weak leader up in Sacramento (and a record of doing NOTHING on city council). . .and they made him mayor (go figure!?)
There were better candidates, and people in LA just didn't seem to care what they were "getting" so long as they were "getting RID" of Hahn.
That move should know be known as the "Michael Jackson" maneuver (cutting off your nose to spite your face).

I know, 'Villain'raigosa is so full of shit.
I'm waiting until after the Special election to really see the shit hit the fan.
Such as if Herb Wesson (endorsed AV in the run-off election) will he win CD 10? Makes a big difference because he currently has them slated in the ethics committee, meaning if Wesson and Huizar wins they'll cover up all of Villian-raigosa's lies and corruption because they head the committee that specializes in that.
Or if Pacheco wins CD 14 or if the Underdog Fairchild wins CD10 will this expose AV just in time for 2009 mayoral elections?
Oh the LA Times and Daily News are going to sell papers now.

this site is full of complete speculation and player-hatin'...

Hey Chief Parker:
I notice that you never write anything about your Mom's boss? What's the deal? The County never does anything wrong?

Since Fairchild was effectively Bought-out of the race by Villaraigosa to sit in some bullshit position.
Wesson will basically win the election because;
1) the press hasn't mentioned CD10 race and thus lowers voter turnout for the other folks in the race.
2)The same press is sucking AV's cock and focusing on getting Huizar elected.
Now 'Villain'raigosa Machine of LA will officially begin because they'll sit on the Ethics Committee, which means they'll cover up all of AV's lies and corruption because they head the committee that specializes in that.
