Roosevelt High School Parents To "Just Say No" To Corrpupt Villaraigosa's Shady LAUSD Experiment

Roosevelt High School Parents continue their fight against Mayor Villaraigosa’s Partnership for Los Angeles Schools – Parents will march in public objection

Media Advisory from lausdparents@gmail.com

On Tuesday, October 9,2007 parents of students at Roosevelt High School and its feeder schools will demonstrate to contest LAUSD board member Monica Garcia and Mayor Villaraigosa's plan to trounce over the will of teachers and parents and implement their plan to take full control of Roosevelt High School and Hollenbeck Middle School. Villaraigosa staffers are presently devising the voting scheme whereby they will send out absentee ballots and conduct school site 'elections' within the next 30 days. The selection process of the schools has never been announced transparently to all parents and teachers.

Parents continue to learn details of the Mayor's plan from teachers and school principals since those parents who have expressed concern about the takeover have been effectively shut out of the decision making process, even though they have children attending these schools. Rather, cronies like Inner City Struggle and Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative continue to import their own hand-picked parents (from as far away as Montebello) to the community meetings to create the illusion of parent support. Tomorrow, Roosevelt parents will describe they manner in which they were intimidated and berated at a September 26th meeting by Inner City Struggle employees and a UTLA Chapter Chair, while Villaraigosa staffers looked on approvingly.

The meeting was held in the cafeteria of Roosevelt High School, arranged and promoted by Inner City Struggle on behalf of Mayor Villaraigosa's Partnership for LA Schools.

Last month, Superintendent Brewer and Kathy Littman made their rounds to East LA schools to peddle the Mayor's plan, they were told in person by parent leaders that Villaraigosa's dim-witted political experiment is not wanted in Boyle Heights schools.

The parent march tomorrow is a continuation of several public demonstrations that have been held to send the message to Villaraigosa- ROOSEVELT SAYS NO!

So a bunch of illiterate parents whose kids have been failing in school, are being told by the teachers and principal of the school, how to think and why they should object. Gee, that sounds sensible. I wonder if the teachers and principal just have power sharing issues themselves, and are using the illiterate and immigrant parents for their own purposes? How awful it is, that the Mayor has been getting all sorts of money and support around the city, like that $50 million donation and support from his billionaire friends.

Personally, I'd like to see him sink that time and money into schools where people would love to get that infusion. Like the Valley and westside, except of course, there are no middle and high schools on the westside that serve the local population, they're full of the kids of immigrants, the poor and illegals who are bused in.

If these ignorant parents and power hungry teachers and principal want their kids to end up like zuma dogg let them, he should move on to where parents and teachers want their kids to succeed.

Speaking of Jose Huizar:

JH: Representing the community where I was raised on the City Council has been a remarkable honor for me, and I deeply appreciate your confidence and support as I begin a full four year term.

ANON: GUESS THE MAYOR DOESN’T WANT HIM TO GO TO THE ASSEMBLY UNLESS KEVIN IS DUMPED.

JH: I am pleased to inform you that I joined with Mayor Villaraigosa in supporting additional funding to add 1,000 police officers to the LAPD to make our neighborhoods safer.

Anon: We still don’t have the 1,000 police officers you both promised for and gave us a $28.00 tax to fund it. Where did the money go?

JH: While violent crime has dropped to the lowest levels in over 40 years, gang violence continues to be a huge problem in some neighborhoods.

Anon: YOUR ARE COUNTING THE GANGS DIFFERENTLY FROM THE WAY YOU DID BEFORE. OVER 600 DEAD FROM GANGS.

JH: That is why I am supporting a substantial effort to expand the city's gang and drug prevention programs.

Anon: You and the Mayor have given over 5 million for gangs, SPEND IT ON GETTING AND PAYING OUR COPS.

JH: I have also worked with the Police and Parole Departments to better track paroled sex offenders living near schools and parks to better protect our children.

Anon: SPEND IT ON GETTING AND PAYING OUR COPS.

JH: And I am also thrilled to inform you that after many years of delay, we have began working on the Valley Boulevard grade separation in El Sereno.

Anon: You didn’t start this. YOU ARE JUST TAKING CREDIT FOR SOME ELSES WORK, AGAIN!

JH: I have also fought to protect our hillsides from overdevelopment by championing the Interim Control Ordinance, and I am working with the residents of Mount Washington to protect the future of the Southwest Museum.

Anon: The fat lady hadn’t sung yet. These fights are not over yet or acceptable to your constituents.

You are only working to finish long fights. If you keep it in limbo you will still look good. No decision is a decision.

JH: I have been given so much by this country and this community, that I hold this responsibility as a sacred trust.

Anon: WHEN AND WERE DID YOU BECOME A DOCUMENTED CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

JH: I thank you for your support and look forward to continue working with you and your neighbors over the next four years.

Anon: FOUR MORE YEARS OF LIES WITH YOU AND THE MAYOR. NOT IF WE CAN HELP IT.

Inner City Struggle is a bunch of radical, uneducated, Mecha kids who have been brainwashed to hate the establishments, cops, govt. This is Antonio's and Hizar's group. They hate the military and all they do is cause trouble whenever one of those Mecha adults tell them to protest, speak out and raise hell. They are not liked in Boyle Heights. The kids are being used by adults to get their message out. You speak to the kids at Inner City and they are filled with such hate towards so many its scary.

THe parents going against Antonio at least have the guts to stand up for what they believe. Do you guys notice how everytime Zuma posts something negative about the SHADY MAYOR all of a sudden there's new people posting for him? Told you all Mayor and clowncil have their people trying to spin and monitoring this blog

Now that is too damn funny, the only thing Zuma does post about , is the Mayor “shady” dealings all based on theories derived from his bat computer? Too bad the bat computer has no real facts and proof only wild ass conspiracy theories.

A Roosevelt student told me that in a blog there was a reference to me, the UTLA Chapter Chair. It is amazing that someone would post a statement without authenticating its veracity. It is interesting to note that nothing was mentioned about the handful of parents who were disruptive and disrespectful throughout the entire meeting. Two parents from that very group sat at the table that I was facilitating and absolutely every single comment and criticism that they wanted submitted were written down, posted and forwarded. In my classroom I emphasize that every person, students and teacher included, must always respect whoever is speaking, reading or presenting. Sadly, I sense from your blog this is NOT what is expected of students or adults. In the future get the facts correct before you publish nonsense. What you state in the blog is very inaccurate and I can look at any one of those parents in the face and repeat exactly what I said and what they responded. I do not know who wrote this slanted blog; but, I challenge the person to write me directly to school. If you are really concerned about all the students at Roosevelt and their achievement, I expect I will hear from the person. I have too many essays to read and to correct, so, I do not waste my time on blogs and their hateful, pejorative, anonymous comments. I will not comment again. If your blog is for entertainment, do not waste your time responding and DO NOT WASTE MY TIME AT ALL.

To submit my comment I must choose "Anonymous" and I apologize; however, you know the name of the school where you can reach me.

Talk about hatred...The way you write is infused with hatred and bigotry. We all want to be heard and most of the people on this blog that like to hear themselves are the ones spewing hatred. There's more than one person on this blog - hating on Inner City Struggle - that feeds their sheep rubbish and gibberish.

Inner City Struggle, the youth that are involved there are working to undue what you all stayed silent about when it was being done. They are working on solutions created by people before them and instead of supporting them, at a minimum engaging in civilized dialogue, all you can do is criticize them.

Your outrage is lost because you marginalize the greater community. You insult your neighbors. You squash the youth.

"Dale, dale, dale, dale el poder" More power to the youth at Inner City Struggle and the parents who stand by their children to make education truly equitable!

The parents of Roosevelt High School have a right to be upset at Villaraigosa and company. The new principal at Roosevelt, Sophia Freire was never interviwed for the position. In fact, she never submitted a resume nor was she ever a principal. The interview committee recommended three other candidates, but La Gorda, Monica Garcia and Villaraigosa wanted a pro Villaraigosa hack, so now the parents, teachers, and students at Roosevelt are stuck with a novice--God help us all...
