Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Tuesday

Now that City Attorney Carmen Trutanich is running for District Attorney, he's finding that many of his former supporters - who are not really happy with his performance so far - are even less so pleased that he's already breaking his promise to not seek higher office.  DA candidate Alan Jackson put out a commercial reminding such that went viral this past weekend.  Nuch need not worry, however - Phil Jennerjahn still supports him.

Speaking of the DA's office - remember Marcia Clark who lost the OK Simpson case? She's written a mystery novel.  Have to say at 57, Clark looks excellent.

Everyone hates red light cameras, which most cities deploy not so much to prevent traffic accidents but to capture some much needed dough.  CM Dennis Zine isn't happy about them either says the Daily News.

East Hollywood looks to spruce up a significant section of Santa Monica Boulevard by playing up it's Route 66 heritage.

More proof (as if it was needed) that Phil is an idiot:
"Nuch will always be my hero for threatening to throw City Council Member Jan "The Hamburglar" Perry in jail over her misbehavior in city dealings with the investment group AIG,.

No, Phil, it was AEG (owners of Staples Center), not AIG (troubled insurance company that got a billion dollar bailout from taxpayers) that Noooch claimed Perry was helping to get illegal billboards.

Not surprising that Nuch is a hero to idiots like Phil who don't know their facts.

So how about this fact, Phil - If Noooch is such a hero, how come a year after he claimed there were 'criminal aspects' into AEG's handling of the Michael Jackson memorial, Noooch dropped the investigation and accepted a bunch of free Lady Gaga tickets from AEG? What does that say about your hero?

Jennerjahn's so-far stated preference for President:

Michelle Bachmann.

No, make that Rick Perry.

No, make that Newt Gingrich.

No, make that Chris Christie.

No, make that Marco Rubio.

No, make that Rick Perry. "OH, HEY, DID I TELL YOU THAT I MET _______(PHIL IN THE BLANK)AT THE CPAC CONVENTION? LET ME TELL YOU MORE ABOUT MYSELF. I DON'T MEAN THE TRUTH ABOUT ME, BUT THE THINGS I TRUMPED UP ABOUT MYSELF."

Phil Jennerjahn's Career Resume

1. Mayor's race. Last place. 10,000 votes behind homeless man.

2. City Council race. Last place.

3. Congress race. Quit after he couldn't get one signature for his petition.

4. Recall City Hall. Quit. Then, denied ANY of the stated $200,000 was received. Then, found $10,000 to enter the World Series of Poker and rented a "sweet" Mustang to get to Vegas.

5. Stole James Andion's URL, and boasted about it on blog. Got kicked out of the Westside Republicans club.

6. Braggart

7. Law school dropout in Year 1.

Until Nuch has come through with some goods in his term of office, I would not help him move up and out in his political career.

I think that allowing the climb to succeed would expose him to the political equivalent to the "gateway drug" and he'd become permanently lost as another useless and dangerous politician. He needs to perform at this level first.

Further, Nuch had the advantage in the City Attorney's race to have a poor choice, Jack Weiss, as a challenger. That doesn't seem to be the case with the District Attorney's election.

Nuch already dissappointed out of the gate. That ongoing case of City Controller v. City Attorney's matter was agreed to be something that would be settled productively among other campaign promises. Instead, he took us on a long and different path that did not match his pre-election promises and left the city with a poorer overall result.

Better than Weiss but that was a uniquely low bar to meet in the city attorney's race. A long way to go for him to show he's worth anything to vote on.

wait, so Trutanich detractors are not happy with his job as City Attorney, but want him to stay?

His detractors are probably just those that are working for or supporting one of the other candidates.

I've yet to hear one good thing about any of the other candidates running for District Attorney.

In fact I've yet to hear anything at all about any of the other candidates. They all seem to be unknowns with no campaign staff or even a campaign office.

Higby,

It's bad enough that you feel the need to reference Phil Jennerjahn in your updates, given all of your whining about the way he's treated but the commenters.

But why did you use his name as a KEY WORD when the story wasn't even about him?

What exactly is your obsession about this mildly retarded fool?

Since we're in Phil Jennerjahn mode, Higby pointed out that Phil said he's going to move in order to run for Congress AGAIN, and noted that Phil was too dumb to realize that he didn't have to move in order to be eligible for the given campaign.

Higby, what were the details in that discussion? It was about a week ago?

Doesn't that prove to you that Phil never does his homework?

How is Phil EVER going to get ANY votes if he regularly proves that he's a moron on this blog and his own, such as confusing aeg and aig?

Even a "vanity" candidate, which Rick Orlov called him, knows not to behave like a moron. Phil doesn't.

Phil supports Nuch?

That does it; who else is running again?

Why do we care who Phil supports or what Phil does?

Why not relegate him to the status of "He who shall not be mentioned"?

There has to be better subject than a low grade moron for wears a clown suit for a living.

9:15am - I agree. Trutanich didn't win anything, he just happened to be someone to vote for other than Jack Weiss. But as bad as Weiss was, at least we knew he was an asshole lying sack of crap. Nooch takes lying and deceit to whole different level. And 'No' 9:55am, nobody wants Carmen the Clown to stay as City Attorney, we want him out of political life completely now that he has proven that his word is worthless and he is just another bunny hopping career politician.

As for your claim not have heard anything about the other candidates for the DA's office, that is about as believable as Noooch's claim that "hundreds of law enforcement leaders" are urging him to run for DA. A pair of not very well orchestrated lies that nobody except a moron like Phil will buy. Is this the best that Noooch can come up with?

Zine is trying to position himself as a fiscal watchdog for the Controller's race. He's really a fiscal dog biscuit for the IBEW and other employee unions the way he votes for raises.

Trutanich didn't just go back on his word with the Controller issue, he also knifed the medical marijuana community in the back. They were also conned into thinking this knuckle-dragging fly-by-night law school thug would help them gain some control over the explosion in illegal pot shops with a fairly written ordinance.

Instead the Clown came out with an ordinance that Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mohr said was so unfair that it was unconstitutional.

To make matters worse, when Judge Mohr explained why the Trutanich ordinance was unconstitutional, Trutanich had one of his 'brilliant' legal moves at the ready - he had his flunky ask the judge to suggest how his ordinance could be 'fixed' to make it legal.

Judge Mohr should have told Trutanich that he was an idiot to make such a request. Instead Mohr said that "responding to the city's request for guidance would violate the separation of powers between the judicial and legislative branches."

If you don't believe me, read the LA Times report of Trutanich's embarrassingly painful display of his lack of basic constitutional law concepts like the separation of powers.

Does anyone, apart from Phil think Nooooch is qualified to be DA?

The best part of watching Carmen the Clown crash and burn will be seeing how many of his "buddies" are going to come forward and kick him in the teeth.
