Outtakes from CD 14: Bloggin responses to Councilman Huizar's Victory

Will this 2007 momento re-appear courtesy of Councilman Jose Huizar's "Big Billboard" friends?
Hola from the "Cut and Paste Republic of CD 14" where no far-fetch bloggin conspiracy is beyond cyber reach, considering this from the Burbank Blogger.
CD14: Huge loss for Rudy Martinez, who has spent the last several months spending his own money to tell people that Huizar was about to be arrested and that polls showed the race 51-49 either way.

In the end, Martinez got crushed in the voting. He leaves the race poorer, with his reputation in tatters, and the political world is abuzz regarding the real reason Martinez was propped up to run, and why people goaded this dupe into running such a nasty campaign. Hint: it has to do with another Councilmember's citywide ambitions. Major post to come on this theme.

Hmmm, who could be this "other" City of Los Angeles City Councilman? Could it be that someone well known to Mayor Sam readers is back scheming in the political shadows?

More bloggin speculation and observations on CD 14 latest election cycle after the jump.
It seems that someone had  "Gattoish visions" of Eric Hacopian somehow duping or enticing Rudy Martinez to spend $200,000 dollars of his own money to politically "tar and feather" Councilman Huizar, so his chances of running for City Attorney would become nil. Thus, CD 2 City Councilman Paul Krekorian would have one less opponent in 2013, that's if he even runs for the office. Tin foil hat stuff indeed!

Back to salient observations on the election past, Tony Butka at his NELA Lives Blog found something to treasure in this latest election cycle. "Of course I personally will always treasure that brand new bicycle rack on York Blvd as a testament to the hard work and good deeds of Mr. Huizar. If only someone will use it…"

The Eagle Rock Patch which distinguish itself with its objective reporting during the just concluded proceedings, had this quote from Councilman Huizar as he celebrated his re-election. "My opponent said he's revitalized York Boulevard?" Huizar said. "All he did was replace an old bar with a new bar," referring to the Martinez-owner Marty's bar on York Boulevard in Highland Park. I guess Marty's will not be hosting any swearing-in ceremonies in 2011.

Your thoughts..............

That's pretty funny... one tin-foil hatted loon here commenting on the conspiracy theories of another in Burbank.

You should start a bowling team!

Ah, thanks for the link. I always forget to blip over to see what the former president of the then-most dysfunctional and reviled NC on L.A.'s Eastside (and THAT'S saying something) has to say about anything -- and increase his readership by 25 percent in the process.

How's the cranky old man of (almost not in) CD14 taking all this? Does he maybe think if he'd really TAKEN the time to collect all the FEW HUNDRED signatures needed to actually become a candidate in CD14, that it could have been HIM wallowing in miserable defeat Tuesday night - and not Rudy not-so-Rich?

Marty's Bar may well be out of business by July 1.

There were also economic reasons why Rudy Rich "invested" in a shot at a $180,000 annual salary plus perks - including business being down by one-third at his eateries (probably more soon - since hardcore Huizar supporters won't ever dine at them) and the market for "flipping" houses tanked.

I'm betting he's down to only one business in the District no later than the end of summer.

Butka, GEEZ, throwing numbers around like he could possibly understand them.

Comparing 2007's COMPLETED vote count to 2011's prelimary so he can (falsely) claim, somehow that Huizar "only" got 500 more votes that 4 years ago.

What a moron!

Turnout in CD14 was the HIGHEST in the City, on Tuesday, in terms of the number of registered voters who COULD vote -- by far, the highest!

And, Huizar got a MUCH higher percentage of the eligible voters here than ANY other council candidate running this year. AND, those votes aren't even final.

You've GOT to compare apples with apples, or just stay the hell away from quoting statistics. Most people, like Butka, are absolutely clueless.

If Huizar REALLY is as MEAN and vindictive as your crowd claims he is, then which City departments do you suppose he would start lining up to face some of the biggest cuts - considering the budget issues?

Planning? Nah...

DOT? Nah.....

Turd-jillo easily lost Huizar 500-1,000 votes.

Pretty FUNNY that the pro-Huizar alums of Mayor Sam's cost Jose more votes than the ANTI-Huizar "spotty" ones ever have.

Met your match, or just taking a SLIME breather?

SOMEONE PUT SCOTT JOHNSON's pitcher on a milk carton, or maybe on those AMBER ALERT neon signs on the Freeway.

He's gone MISSIN'!

Maybe the REAL Red Spot has been KIDNAPPED and taken to Glendale by Rudy Martinez - "adopted" (abducted?) and maybe he'll name a HAMBURGER stands after HIM there!?

If you can't remove the Thug from the Council Office, redistrict your neighborhood away form the Thug.

The census numbers are out. It is time for Citywide Council Redistricting.

The Downtown Community needs to be reunited under one office.

Eagle Rock deserves better than CD14.

Let's get creative.

Start the discussion.

RUDY MARTINEZ DID NOT SPEND 200,000 of his own money to run, so stop saying it. He "loaned" his campaign 200k but NEVER spent it. That means he gets it back.

Just another Walter Moore style scam.

I would like to ask TEAM HUIZAR how do they feel about your councilman Voted with the rest of the losers on council except Krekorian and I think Smith to illegally transfer $1 billion of CRA money to hide it from Gov Brown who wants to abolish CRA? Everyone I know all over the city in every area support the Gov. and Controller Chiang's continued audit which he just found out $883,000 was illegally used for administrative salaries instead of affordable housing. This is the beginning of what happened to City of Bell. This is how Chiang started digging and finding the corruption. Those incumbents should enjoy it for now but in time we will be seeing them on TV like Bell politicians

Just to show how horrible our local media and how immigration rights people are protected not only by them but our loser politicians here's a story that didn't make any of our local papers but all over the internet. Could it be Nativo has come out in support of idiots like Steve Cooley and he tried to hide it?

Activist Nativo Lopez nearly lands in psych ward
Judge Sends MAPA Prez Nativo Lopez to Mental Hospital
Amid objections by his Public Defender, Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) President Nativo Lopez was remanded on March 10, 2011, to Patton State Hospital for a maximum of three years, after being evaluated as mentally incompetent by Los Angeles psychiatrist Dr. Jack Rothberg.
Lopez is facing eight voter fraud charges related to changing his voting address from his Santa Ana home to the Boyle Heights office of Hermandad Mexicana Latinoamericana, another group he leads, in 2008. He is alleged to have voted in L.A. County despite still living in Orange County.

As of the last Ethics posting, he still hadn't spent it all; had thousands left.

His $200,000 was listed as a "campaign loan" - which means when all the bills are paid, anything leftover is his to reclaim, personally.

Try to keep up, okay?

Didn't Nativo Lopez support Huizar? This is the president of MAPA? Ed Roybal founded this organization, where is Congresswoman Lucille Roybal on this issue? Her former staffer, Pedro Carrillo, is bff's with Lopez along with being in the middle of the Bell scandal. Amazing.

11.53, you haven't got a clue to what you are talking about. Whatever he spent, whether it $10,000 or $200,000, it was spent. He doesn't get that back from anybody whether it was booked as a loan or not.

Clearly Martinez paid a consultant, campaign manager and for campaign materials and mailers. He won't have too much change from $200,000.

I can keep up. Do you know what you are talking about?

Well then, "catch up" with the facts, and City listings...

As of March 4,

RUDY MARTINEZ - Cash on Hand

$35,758.18

Personal Funds ["LOANED"]

$200,000

(Personal Funds: Contributions and/or loans made by the candidate to his or her campaign committee. Repayment of loans is not reflected in the totals.)

GET IT?? Any SURPLUS goes to REPAY the personal LOAN the candidate made to HIMSELF? That's why it's called a "LOAN"!!!

What part of this is hard to figure out??

(The part that makes you think Rudy Rich, GOT rich by leaving money on the table?? That's he's a SAINT who'll give it back to contributors?? HA!)

For any questions on his sainthood, check with the LAPD.

Is that YOU Hacopian... did you think you tapped poor sap Rudy completely, only to find (too late) that you could have billed him for some added services... more "DEFEAT" expenses?

Should have planned better. Looks like he's taking tens of thousands back home to Glendale.

You make it sound like if nobody knows that Rudy Martinez's campaign had former Councilmember Nick Pacheco as its biggest supporter. He needed to have Huizar out of office if he has any hopes of ever going back to City Hall and here's why:

Pacheco was the first incumbent elected official to ever lose in the first round in the history of LA. Yes, the FIRST incumbent. One thing is to lose your re-election race, but to do so in the first round is just the worst thing that can ever happen. Even then, he lost by a huge margin to Villaraigosa.

If he ever wants to step back into City Hall to make any money, he needs both Villaraigosa and Huizar out of there. Villaraigosa will be out of office in about 2 years, but Huizar just got re-elected and can serve another 4-year term if he wants after this one thanks to Measure R. The only way that he can really do it right now is by being a consultant to one of the elected officials (like Mike Hernandez), preferrably one of the councilmembers. He could also be hired to be a consultant/lobbyist for a number of people who have work with city hall (a la Richard Alatorre). He's tainted goods, so nobody will hire him as long as Villaraigosa and Huizar are around.

As for the city council seat itself for CD14, he would like to make a run at his old seat eventually since he can still serve up to 8 years (thanks to Measure R). That would make him eligible for retirement and medical benefits since he'd be in office for over 10 years.

The funny part about it all is that he put himself behind Rudy Martinez in such a way that it could lead to major ethics violations, due to the paper trail associated to donors of Martinez's campaign getting reimbursed by a firm that is connected to Pacheco.

So I'm pretty sure that's the "major news" that Scott Johnson was referring to that is to come. Either way, anybody who is really in the know would already know this and not make it seem like if late breaking news. But then again, we are talking about Scott.
