Councilman Jose Huizar Elected to a Second Term in CD 14

This blogger wants to congratulate CD 14 Councilman Jose Huizar on his re-election to a second full term  I look forward to four more years of objective blogging on your future political exploits. In addition, I like to commend challenger Rudy Martinez for his efforts in expanding the political dialog and bring attention to issues such as the CLARTS Fund and economic renewal in CD 14. As Martinez stated in his gracious concession speech, this campaign was only the beginning of his new foray into the political world and he will continue the dialog on bring a better tomorrow to the constituents of CD 14. That discussion, this blogger will continue to post here at Mayor Sam.
Your thoughts..............
Scott Johnson in CD 14.

Thank you Red Spot for all your hard work posting info for us. Watch the immature, rantings of TEAM HUIZAR to post their juvenile, attacks on you and anyone who had a difference of opinion. What Huizar should be alarmed about is Martiinez got 5,163 with little money. There's over 250,000 people in CD14 and the Incumbent couldn't must up over 10,000 votes. The complacency with voters is bad. Bell should be our goal to act up and do what they did and recall 4 of their council members but I think the State Controller will help us do that

Think of all the beer you could've had!

Think of all the sleep you cold've had!

All that time LOST! Gone forever, and it didn't amount to a hill of beans in the end.

Whatever Rudy paid you, it wasn't worth it.

Little money? Rudy spent $200,000 of his own money on this race. 9:48 also playing fast and loose with the facts.

Probably pre-emptive strike by Red Spot knowing Huizar supporters will call him out for his writings/actions during the election cycle.

You just don't get it don't you? Martinez and company didn't get it either. Anyone "truly" in politics can tell you right off the bat whether or not you have a shot at a seat. Most low-level staffers could have given Martinez free advice as to why he wasn't fit to be a candidate (this is a sincere comment). The fact that he shows to run just goes to show that he paid a small fortune to hire those not politically savvy (including former Huizar employees and his own mother).

As far as "immature rantings" are concerned, this blog posted them throughout the race. This was the nastiest race in LA city politics in recent memory. This blog continuously posted baseless claims.

The end result...no matter how many times I or the many other people out there put it to this blog and those who commonly post comments here...there is an enormous pool of people who just don't see all of the red flags this blog, the Clean Sweep campaign, and other folks associated with these entities seem to be on high alert on all of the time.

Although you may be dissatisfied with the state of our City, an overwhelming majority of Angelenos don't see it this way. They choose to see "good things" when looking at the entire picture as opposed to the small blotch distorting the masterpiece you and others so obsessively point out. The overwhelming majority of the people would like their communities and neighborhoods improved. However, they understand that personal ownership and responsibility are also part of the formula to getting there.

Lastly, one of the biggest "I don't have a clue about politics" person I have ever heard of is Walter Moore. He declared shoo-in victories for several candidates that lost--badly. His personal academic and professional accomplishments are admirable (as our that of anyone with an advanced degree). However, he is a moron in other respects. He comments are filled with hate and xenophobic comments. It is pointless to argue with him and his counterparts on that. If they genuinely don't see their faults, no one will convince them otherwise.

Ahhh the day after is always the same. How many more times will this blog convince itself it is supporting a true candidate only to get their ass kicked on election day?

Here is the problem with your post. Saying Martinez "raised the conversation" is like thanking John Hinkley Jr for his hard work on gun rights.

Martinez "raised the conversation" by accusing a politician of being corrupt, and "threatening" his family. He attempted to start an LAPD investigation over an ill-worded campaign memo for the sole purpose of getting attention with no bother or care as to who his actions hurt. That made Martinez no better, if not worse, than his opponent and for this blog to not only not recognize that, but fail to clue Martinez into that fact didn't do him, nor this city any favors.

Martinez raised the conversation all-right. He made the sitting incumbent look calm, cool and emotionally stable while he and his "supporters" on this blog an elsewhere ran around with their hair on fire. Way to change things in LA.

We all know Red Spot to be one of them.

But it wasn't all that surprising that Scott would invest such time in something that would not bring any fruits of victory. Scott cannot afford his own apartment, so he lives in public housing. But he wasn't even embarrassed by that. He lived in his mother's home, and he is middle aged.

SCOTT: How is it that someone can be pushing 50 years of age and is still unable to support himself?

What is it in life that caused you to be such a failure?

I don't know you outside of your childish commentaries on this blog, but it doesn't take a genius to say that you're quite a failure in life.

First off, you're a damn liar. (Not that anyone should surprised at that).

You've never posted an "objective" sentence on this blog in your entire "worth-ever-penny-Higby-pays-you" career.

Second, you betray your own insincerity and bile when you use the term "exploits" to describe Huizar's political future.

Again, you're a damn liar!

Huizar HAS a political future, and you will have no impact on it, ever. Likewise the "Axis of Weasels" - Pacheco/Parra/Martinez are SO very over and done with now. Combined (supporting Martinez), they only manager to get about half as many votes in 2011 as when Huizar was first elected. Running a horribly deceitful and slime-based negative campaign against him FAILED miserably.

LET ME restate that in VERY simple terms.

The COMBINED influences of Nick "Tricky Nicky" Pacheco, Alvin "Homer Simpson" Parra, and Rudy "Glendale Republican" Martinez and ALL their minions in CD14 resulted in Martinez getting ALMOST 4,000 LESS votes than Pacheco himself did against Huizar in 2005. It cost Rudy most of his personal $200,000 to LOSE to Huizar by approx. the same percentage of the vote that Parra lost to hime 4 years ago. The campaign was a joke, from day #1.

And, as far Huizar's COMPLETELY LEGAL use of the CLARKS funds... guess what. The PEOPLE OF CD14 overhwelmingly disagreed with you and Rudy Rich... it is not an "ISSUE" here. It never will be. By re-electing Huizar for a THIRD time, by a LANDSLIDE, your neighbors and mine have THUMBED their noses at your invented "issue" of CLARTS, and said... "Shut Up, Red Spot, and let Huizar do the job WE'VE now elected him for -- THREE TIMES!

Enjoy your FREE post here at Mayor Sam's. No one will ever pay you a real dollar to post teh idiocy and nonsense you're known for here.

Until people realize elections are won door knocking, phone calling and hand shaking, NOT blogging, bitching and moaning things will never change the way those who are dissatisfied want them to.

I can't tell you how many times I have tried to explain to groups of advocates that "supporting" a candidate doesn't mean taking his time from the district for a feel-good breakfast, but instead means writing a check, knocking on doors and making calls. Still, time after time we see tons of praise on blogs, and crickets in the streets.

If those that are so invested in any given election would have spent 1/2 of their time actually campaigning, and god forbid wrote a check, then you may see some movement in the polls.

To be fair to supporters, when your candidate gets on TV and says he fears for his family's safety because of a campaign memo he had to stretch to turn into a threat, your "campaign" pretty much left the tracks anyway but my point still stands. Campaign in the district not on a blog. We have a word for blogs like these, their called echo-chambers for a reason.

The question is never whether you're pissed at City Hall or you support candidate X, the question is what are you prepared to DO to see your candidate succeed? As long as the answer to the latter is "nothing but blog anonymously" things will stay the same.

How truly sad that some mindlessly celebrate the election of clueless, mediocre, morally bankrupt politicans. Los Angeles deserves so much better.
The citizens of L.A. don't have a clue of the damage & deception that this Mayor and City Council are doing to this City, otherwise they would've turned out in droves.
Like the citizens of Bell, Angelenos will only be finding out years from now how inept & how corrupt these politicans really are and how much damage they are doing. It is only long after the horse has left the barn that they will be lining up to vote in "reform" candidates.
And all the clueless simpletons have to say is hooray for our side...nyah, nyah, nyah?
Really?

But then when somebody posts something on this blog that you don't like, you don't approve it and it doesn't appear for others to read. My friends and I have been taking so much pleasure in knowing that you must feel like crap from reading all the comments that people post acknowledging how worthless you are. Better yet, even though some may not appear on here because you won't approve them, you still have to read what they say, there by receiving the message that was directed to you.

Find a REAL purpose in life. Find a way to really be an engaging member of the community at large that wants to make a difference. Until you do that, you'll still find yourself stuck in this alternative reality where you believe that your words and your opinion matter to anybody other than yourself.

I thoroughly dispute and am offended by this kind of "you won, because you were fooled" bullshit from sour grapes losers.

If everyone who votes the OTHER way from you is a "simpleton" in your mind, what does that make you, a f*cking genius?

Nope, it just makes and even more clueless, arrogant prick.

Fortunately the American system of electing leaders protects the majority of us from the arrogant self deluded "smart" few of you who think they know more than we do.

You lose! And you'll never really understand WHY you lose - but it's because you're, "simply" put, always wrong and never honest enough to take a good hard look at that fact.

He's thrown down the gauntlet again, making it painfully clear he intends to rag on the sitting (and repeatedly, overwhelmingly re-elected) Councilman regardless of how wrong he was, is, and always will be -- continuing to make up fake issues like "CLARKS" and "no liquor at Rec & Parks" facilities, as well as "Huizar approves liquor licenses" (even though he opposes most that come to him).

The positive in this election is all the candidates were exposed for their baggage. Huizar has over 5,000 angry constituents that aren't going to go away. His groupies will continue to bash the hard working dedicated volunteers who want a better community. Instead of appreciating and thanking them he rates them. For the next couple of years I hope those who voted against Huizar continue to care about their community and not let the groupies verbally assault you as they have. Continue the great work you have been doing for years.

"Huizar has over 5,000 angry constituents that aren't going to go away."

Ha, ha, that's HILARIOUS. You MUST be blogging from a mental hospital.

I'd say about 500 (no more) of those are ANGRY, and most of those are angry at ANYONE who's in elected office. Within 3 months of someone replacing Huizar (anyone), they'll be ANGRY at the next guy.

The other 4,500 bought into Martinez's LIES for the VERY reason that they ARE out of touch, and have no idea what goes on in teh district or how many real improvements have been made in 5-6years... improvements that the LAST two CMs SAT on for years.

Just like 3,000 or so who bought into Alvin "DOH" Parra's lies about Huizar being on vacation every other day, and that in 2008, he was going to "jump ship and run for Assembly or Congress" and THAT never happened.

LIES, every election, and many people believe them because they're JUST that gullible, and then when it turns out they're just PURE B.S. (like the fake "FBI Investigation" Rudy lied about), the LIARS who create the crap are already GONE and never have to answer for the slime.

There are ALWAYS going to be people in L.A. - usually 15-20 percent who simply (and SIMPLE mindedly!) vote AGAINST the incumbent, because they blame him for EVEYTHING they don't like, even if it has NOTHING to do with his job. They blame elected officials for the WEATHER, traffic, ultraviolet rays, YOU name it.

If "Donald Duck" had been listed on the ballot against Huizar (instead of the CARTOON character that really was this time), 1,500-2,000 would have voted for him, because that's about how many die hard ("I'll never vote for a Liberal Democrat") regular voters there are. All Rudy Rich's self-funded extra $200,000 dollars and a TRUCKLOAD of lies did was convince another 2-3K to vote for him. (And that's a LOT of money to simply move from losing by a guaranteed 50 percentage points to ONLY losing by 30 percent.

Don't count your "chickens" that way. You don't even half HALF that many eggs in your basket, and between elections, the VAST majority of them stop paying attention (which is why they were SO easily fooled by Rudy Rich's ABSOLUTE lies... and the lies of Parra before him).

Rudy's net gain of "ANTI" against Huizar versus what Parra got 4 years ago should be totally embarrassing to him, and his campaign consultants. He had THREE times as much money as Parra, and STILL lost by just a huge a landslide.

It was RUDY MARTINEZ's "baggage" that made this race a landslide for the incumbent. Most of the invented "baggage" against Huizar didn't stick at all, and will be forgotten within weeks.

The next challenger will have to invent all NEW lies. But I'm sure the Hacopians of the world, better FICTION writers than most of the people working on scripts in Hollywood, won't have any problem with that.

Money and negative campaigning wins elections!!!!

As of 3/2/11

Huizar spent roughly $429,000.00 (plus another $89,000.00 in IEs)

Martinez " " $223,000.00 (plus another $27,000.00 in IEs)

Huizar outspent Martinez close to
"2 to 1".

God only knows how much more they each spent for the last week and GOTV.

Huizar's team did a better job negative campaigning to the voters and Martinez got better media coverage.

At the end, the "mothers milk of politics" [money] decided this race.

Huizar had more money and he won with better hit pieces.

The issues never decided this race, but when has the issues decided a race in District 14.
