Big loser: LA Times. Becoming more and more irrelevant every day.
Still some precincts and absentees to count but Huizar already has more (actual) votes than 4 years ago - against a challenger with twice as much money.
SO, everything spewed here by the Spots and haters WAS wrong.
He ISN'T losing support in CD14, he's gaining it.
Turnout was considerably higher than last time, and Huizar was the beneficiary of it.
ALL you read on Mayor Sam's about CD14 was wrong.
Period.
LOSERS in terms of political savvy and significance - ALL the way around:
-- Los Angeles Times
(their endorsements were the kiss of death)
-- Clean Sweep L.A.
(a reverse barometer of actual L.A. public opinion)
Disband it Ron Kaye. It's an embarrassment.

Nearly all political blogs.
Or any political "social networking" for that matter.
Luckily, most elected officials do ignore them. They mean less than the ramblings during Council public comment in terms of reading constituents.
A. The ballots are only half counted at 1 AM. B. The Times losing, really? It seems they are a lot more relevant than they deserve credit for.
I'm disgusted, sickened by the results thus far and going to bed.
Now I know why movie stars threaten to move. This fucking town deserves what they get.

Does this hopefully mean that Red Spot will retire from his daily Huizar hit pieces and actually write about something relevant for a change?

Now only if Huizar worked as hard throughout the year as he did saving his job. They're saying he got 50% so in my estimation that means there's a hell of a lot of people who didn't want him. Constituents who remaind not satisfied with Huizar keep up the fight and at every corner demand respect and answers. Even though he was re elected what do the supporters say about the corruption of CRA in a community that is one of the poorest??? What do constituents say about raising DWP rates for Seniors on a fixed income. What do constituents say about 4 women in Huizar's office making well over $135,000 using money that is suppose to be for community services. All questions Huizar fails to answer
Biggest Loser: The people of Los Angeles, 88.41% of whom did not even bother to vote.
Another Loser: Carmen Trutanich who will now have to deal with Jose Huizar who will be filing papers for a run at City Attorney in 2013.
Well, at least we can say that Mayor Sam is MORE relevant than....The LA Times.

I am sure that the three people that read this blog and actually live and vote in CD 14 really care. After all, they elected Antonio and Jose over Sam's darlings, Nick and Rudy, didn't they?

I just read this on another blog and Huizar although won not great numbers for an incumbent. Rudy got 1/2 the vote with 5,163. That means a lot of people aren't happy with Huizar and will continue to bash him at every stop. Waiting for the groupies to wake up and post their crap. 4 million people and only 12% voted.

You know NOTHING about local politics. At 1 a.m. nearly all ballots were counted (you read "half" of those from "POLLS" -- absentees made up most of the other half and had already been counted).

35 percent of the vote is NOT half. It's just barely over ONE-THIRD -- and almost EXACTLY what the two losers in 2007 got against Huizar.
HUIZAR got MORE votes than 4 years ago - MORe support, MORE!
And MARTINEZ had 2-3 times as much money as they had in 2007.
So, he lost BIGGER than Alvin Parra etc.

Dear Mayor Sam Blog,
Please predict that I will grow ugly warts all over my body and become desolate, living in my own broken down car.
Then I will have confidence that one day, I'm going to wake up looking like a supermodel, and hit the lottery to become a multi-millionaire, since everything you predict turns out dead wrong and instead, the opposite happens.
Good job again - I'll keep an eye on this blog in the future for a detailed early prediction of what is definitely not going to happen.
You could also write a self-help book for wanna be politicians "How To Be Completely Out of Touch with Reality, Waste a Small Fortune and Wake Up A Loser." At least that would be accurate.

People of CD14,
Let's look at the 260,000 people in the district vs. the number of people who actually voted for Huizar. Huizar has had over 4 years to buy his way through the community, with hand-outs to fake non-profits. There are probably more people taking money from Huizar's office, than the number of people who actually voted for him in the election. On top of that, you have an illegal population well over 60% in the district and a very lax voting security system for City elections.
Is this a victory? For Huizar, maybe. Not for the people of CD14.
You can only hope that CD14 will be cleaned out like the City of Bell or disassembled like the City of Vernon is going to be.
Eagle Rock and Downtown should start discussing redistricting TODAY. Neighborhood Councils should immediately seek community input.
District populations need to be equal, but there is plenty of room to reunite communities torn apart by gerrymandering.
It's not over.

Did you see how the City Council approved $8.4 millon for the downtown streetcar on the morning of the election.

Huizar has $$$'s hanging over everybody's head. Parks to be built with money brought from the Mayor's Cousin in Sacramento. Projects built with DWP money that the Mayor controls. Streetcar money coming from friends at the Federal government.
People are afraid of Huizar, but even more, they are afraid of losing the cash he has promised all the special interests.
The machine won the election not Huizar. He is just a tool.

Here's a story that should be investigated. Where is the grant of $650,000 Congresswoman Roybal Allard gave to one of Huizar's groupies to be spent for a Safe and DRug Free community. No one knows where its at. It was given not to a non profit but a private organization. Do you see the red flags in this?????
The six reelected Councilmembers Krekorian, LaBonge, Cardenas, Parks, Wesson, and Huizar should feel very proud of their extraordinary work which is reflected in number of voters who voted for them.
Congratulations to Englander who garnered more votes than the career politicians.
