Mayor Sam and myself are all victory partied out, so have at it amigos; the good, the bad, and the ugly...
Update: Huizar Destroys Martinez
Labels: election 2011
This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Big loser: LA Times. Becoming more and more irrelevant every day.
Anonymous said:
Still some precincts and absentees to count but Huizar already has more (actual) votes than 4 years ago - against a challenger with twice as much money.
SO, everything spewed here by the Spots and haters WAS wrong.
He ISN'T losing support in CD14, he's gaining it.
Turnout was considerably higher than last time, and Huizar was the beneficiary of it.
ALL you read on Mayor Sam's about CD14 was wrong.
Period.

LOSERS in terms of political savvy and significance - ALL the way around:
-- Los Angeles Times
(their endorsements were the kiss of death)
-- Clean Sweep L.A.
(a reverse barometer of actual L.A. public opinion)
Disband it Ron Kaye. It's an embarrassment.

Another big loser:
Nearly all political blogs.
Or any political "social networking" for that matter.
Luckily, most elected officials do ignore them. They mean less than the ramblings during Council public comment in terms of reading constituents.
Anonymous said:
A. The ballots are only half counted at 1 AM. B. The Times losing, really? It seems they are a lot more relevant than they deserve credit for.
I'm disgusted, sickened by the results thus far and going to bed.
Now I know why movie stars threaten to move. This fucking town deserves what they get.
I hope I wake up in a better mood.
Anonymous said:
Does this hopefully mean that Red Spot will retire from his daily Huizar hit pieces and actually write about something relevant for a change?
Anonymous said:
Or will we have to read about all of Huizar's misdeeds that will be committed in the next year?
Please move on. Don't you want your old readers back? The ones who don't live in CD 14?

Clean Sweep is Dead. Blame the racist Walter Moore for ruining any chance this group had.

I always said Huizar was going to win - when you sell out your soul, what else is there?
But still, all that money and less than 10K votes - and against a lame ass opponent like Martinez.
What's 10,000 of 300,000 - not much to brag about.
Anonymous said:
Scott Johnson, you're an idiot. We would tell you time after time after time, but you wouldn't get it. Now hopefully you can continue on with your sorry excuse of a life and try to find something that gives your life meaning. Again, you're such an idiot!
Anonymous said:

Now only if Huizar worked as hard throughout the year as he did saving his job. They're saying he got 50% so in my estimation that means there's a hell of a lot of people who didn't want him. Constituents who remaind not satisfied with Huizar keep up the fight and at every corner demand respect and answers. Even though he was re elected what do the supporters say about the corruption of CRA in a community that is one of the poorest??? What do constituents say about raising DWP rates for Seniors on a fixed income. What do constituents say about 4 women in Huizar's office making well over $135,000 using money that is suppose to be for community services. All questions Huizar fails to answer

Biggest Loser: The people of Los Angeles, 88.41% of whom did not even bother to vote.
Another Loser: Carmen Trutanich who will now have to deal with Jose Huizar who will be filing papers for a run at City Attorney in 2013.
Anonymous said:
Well, at least we can say that Mayor Sam is MORE relevant than....The LA Times.
Ain't sayin' much, am I?
Maybe Mayor Sam needs to go back to just reporting the news like LA Observed, instead of always trying to make it.
I am sure that the three people that read this blog and actually live and vote in CD 14 really care. After all, they elected Antonio and Jose over Sam's darlings, Nick and Rudy, didn't they?
There must be a message here somewhere.
Anonymous said:
I just read this on another blog and Huizar although won not great numbers for an incumbent. Rudy got 1/2 the vote with 5,163. That means a lot of people aren't happy with Huizar and will continue to bash him at every stop. Waiting for the groupies to wake up and post their crap. 4 million people and only 12% voted.

Hey Red Spot,
You should send back the money that Rudy Martinez gave you!
You didn't get the job done!
Hundreds of posts you wrote and it didn't make a damn bit of difference! You're a true idiot.

It meant nothing, Red Spot.

all for naught, scott!

I am having such a great laugh about the results. The incumbents suck, but you guys put in such a losing effort that the incumbents other than Parks all won easily!

Scott,
I thought you said that "the choice is clear in cd14?"
Come to think of it, Higby said the same about CD4.
Both losers.

You know NOTHING about local politics. At 1 a.m. nearly all ballots were counted (you read "half" of those from "POLLS" -- absentees made up most of the other half and had already been counted).

WRONG, wrong WRONG. (Why is it that all the Rudy supporters were TOO dumb to understand NUMBERS).
35 percent of the vote is NOT half. It's just barely over ONE-THIRD -- and almost EXACTLY what the two losers in 2007 got against Huizar.
HUIZAR got MORE votes than 4 years ago - MORe support, MORE!
And MARTINEZ had 2-3 times as much money as they had in 2007.
So, he lost BIGGER than Alvin Parra etc.
Anonymous said:
"As George Gonzalez, one of Martinez’s key campaign aides put it to Eagle Rock Patch: “Now he can go back to making money.”
Yes, EXACTLY what I've been saying for MONTHS.
Stick to what you KNOW and can do, Rudy Rich. BE that SMALL business man.
BUH Bye!

Red Spit will try to spin, but READ the numbers.
He was WRONG on everything, and HIS district LOVVVVVES Huizar.
No other spin is possible, except to the braindead.
What comes next is: sour grapes, calling the MAJORITY "stupid" (arrogant posturing), and blaming EVERYONE but the ones really to blame... the ones like this blog that PUMP up the unqualified and then WHINE what the real INTELLIGENT majority sends them away.
Rudy M. was NEVER a good candidate, and Huizar has BEEN doing a good job.
The people of CD14 have TOLD you this three times now by HUGE landslides...
LISTEN to your neighbors for once.
They know. They VOTED for Huizar, and even those that stayed home DIDN'T make moves to replace him (which they would have if he was doing a bad job).
Anonymous said:
(Is this where the Wacko Walter Moore spin comes in and tell us Huizar ONLY won by 4,000 votes...)
ONLY???
(And if NEXT time we can ONLY get turnout UP, he'll be kicked out? Just doesn't get it, never will... GREATER turnout, Huizar just WINS by that many more thousand).
HA, ha, HOOOOO, ha.
What a simpleton.

It's no wonder that Phil couldn't get past the first round of the World Series of Poker:
He can't analyze jack.
Phil Jennerjahn was wrong about EVERY pick he made, and was MOST wrong about Paul Krekorian's landslide win.
I guess Higby still thinks Phil is smart. He remains the only one who does so.

I bet those guys about whom Phil Jennerjahn said "I'm proud to call him my friend and vote for him," now wish that Phil kept his stupid mouth shut.

Dear Mayor Sam Blog,
Please predict that I will grow ugly warts all over my body and become desolate, living in my own broken down car.
Then I will have confidence that one day, I'm going to wake up looking like a supermodel, and hit the lottery to become a multi-millionaire, since everything you predict turns out dead wrong and instead, the opposite happens.
Good job again - I'll keep an eye on this blog in the future for a detailed early prediction of what is definitely not going to happen.
You could also write a self-help book for wanna be politicians "How To Be Completely Out of Touch with Reality, Waste a Small Fortune and Wake Up A Loser." At least that would be accurate.

People of CD14,
Let's look at the 260,000 people in the district vs. the number of people who actually voted for Huizar. Huizar has had over 4 years to buy his way through the community, with hand-outs to fake non-profits. There are probably more people taking money from Huizar's office, than the number of people who actually voted for him in the election. On top of that, you have an illegal population well over 60% in the district and a very lax voting security system for City elections.
Is this a victory? For Huizar, maybe. Not for the people of CD14.
You can only hope that CD14 will be cleaned out like the City of Bell or disassembled like the City of Vernon is going to be.
Eagle Rock and Downtown should start discussing redistricting TODAY. Neighborhood Councils should immediately seek community input.
District populations need to be equal, but there is plenty of room to reunite communities torn apart by gerrymandering.
It's not over.

Did you see how the City Council approved $8.4 millon for the downtown streetcar on the morning of the election.
You think that was an accident?
Huizar has $$$'s hanging over everybody's head. Parks to be built with money brought from the Mayor's Cousin in Sacramento. Projects built with DWP money that the Mayor controls. Streetcar money coming from friends at the Federal government.
People are afraid of Huizar, but even more, they are afraid of losing the cash he has promised all the special interests.
The machine won the election not Huizar. He is just a tool.
Anonymous said:
emails flying hilarious on the Huizar win. For an incumbent who had the Unions backing when you look at the numbers Huizar did poorly. He couldn't even make over 10,000 votes. Here's a story that should be investigated. Where is the grant of $650,000 Congresswoman Roybal Allard gave to one of Huizar's groupies to be spent for a Safe and DRug Free community. No one knows where its at. It was given not to a non profit but a private organization. Do you see the red flags in this?????

Your ingraciousness (look it up) Scott is transparent as a window.
You are not a good sport.
You are a proven liar.
You never allowed the other bloggers on MS to have a chance to talk about other subjects.
You deserve all the embarrassment you get today and for the next four years. And by the way, fool, Huizar will COAST to a third term in 2015. He will make an extra $750,000 in salary in just four years, and you probably can't sniff $13 an hour in YOUR "career."
Lots of luck to you, Scott. You're going to need it in life.

THE ONLY PEOPLE VOTING WERE SPECIAL INTEREST TYPES ,UNIONS, AND A FEW ACTUAL VOTERS. 10% OF YOU VOTED 80% DIDN'T. NOT A LANDSLIDE FOR ANY OF THESE INCUMBENTS. IF 30% HAD VOTED WE COULD HAVE SEEN A HISTORIC ELECTION. AS LONG AS PEOPLE DON'T VOTE THEY GIVE THEIR RIGHTS AND LIVES AND FUTURES TO OTHERS. PERSONALLY I THINK THEY SHOULD TIE KEEPING CITIZENSHIP TO VOTING. IF YOU DON'T VOTE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CITIZENSHIP. PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD DIE TO BE ABLE TO VOTE YET MANY TOO MANY AMERICANS THROW AWAY THIS RIGHT. WHAT ARE OUR SOLDERS FIGHTING FOR CLEARLY IT'S NOT FREEDOM, BECAUSE MANY AMERICANS GAVE THAT RIGHT UP TO A ELITE FEW WHO BENEFIT FROM THERE HARD WORK AND YOUR KIDS FUTURE ALL FOR A VOTE. SOME AMERICANS I THINK ANTI-AMERICAN IS A BETTER TAG.

I can't IMAGIN how you can link Huizar with Alarcon.
You see, the carpet-bagger Alarcon had MUCH more in common with the carpetbagging, Glendale Republican Rudy Martinez, than with Huizar..
At least Alarcon lived in the same CITY he ran for office in... Los Angeles.
