Mayor Sam Candidate Endorsements: Split Decision for CD8

This is the next in a series of posts where JoeB and I will give our endorsements for candidates for LA City Council and School Board. Where there is agreement we will give the official MayorSam endorsement to the candidate. Next up is CD8. For each post we will give both Joe's endorsement and mine along with our comments. The choices in CD8 are:

JoeB: Jabari, simply because he's not Bernard Parks or Forescee Hogan-Rowles.

Michael Higby: Bernard Parks is no doubt an old school political warrior who we once called Bitter Bernie. But Parks over the years has earned our respect with his calls for fiscal restraint and general pro-small business orientation. Still, he makes mistakes like siding with Hamburger Jan Perry on her goofy fast food ban, but he deserves re-election. More importantly his primary opponent is an ethically challenged IBEW stooge. We defeated one of those in CD2; CD8 deserves that too.

Verdict: One for Jabari Jumaane, One for Bernie

Bernard Parks' fiscal responsibility is not reflected in the way he manages his council office. His office has a chief of staff (his son) who is the highest paid cos in the city. He is double dipping and didn't take a cut in pay. He actually receives two retirement pensions. One as a police officer and another from being chief. Who does that and calls theirself responsible. I do not know the other candidates but I'm with the anybody but Parks group. He is a fake and doesn't even pay for his own lunch when he's at an event. It is disgusting the way this man has everyone fooled.

I will not vote for someone with consecutive "AA"s in his or her name.

It's un-American.

Hey Joe,

What do you think of the Wisconsin legislature issuing ARREST WARRANTS and FINEs for the 14 PUSSY Democrats who won't show up for work?

Why no Wisconsin "BREAKING NEWS" from you on this, like you issued Wisconsin "BREAKING NEWS" that you did when you LIKED what was going on there?

Double standard, my friend?

You mean "JUMAANE" . . .

But isn't that how RED Spot misspells "germane", and in,

"It was jumaane to the point I was ju-making!"

1:03, Wisconsin Gov issuing arrest warrants is a stunt at best and not worth the mention. You can't arrest a representative or a senator when the state congress is in session. And you especially can't arrest them when they are in another state. Gov Walker is just having a melt down as he finds practically his entire state against him.

HIgby gives himself a chance to be a winner here; Bernie wins it, maybe in a run off.

Parks has been the purveyor of the truth regarding the bleak City of Los Angeles Budget.

For the sake of Los Angeles fiscal future, Park's budgetary experience must be retained in this election cycle.

I ENDORSE FORESEE HOGAN -ROWLES. PARKS HAS HAD HIS CHANCE HE'S PART OF THE PROBLEM. FORESEE IS RADICAL BUT SHE HAS PASSION FOR THIS COMMUNITY THAT'S WHAT IS NEEDED I THINK SHE WILL DO A BETTER JOB THAN SOME OF YOU THINK. I THINK THIS COMMUNITY NEEDS SOMEONE WHO IS AT THEIR LEVEL NOT FROM A TOWER ABOVE THE PEOPLE. AS A WOMAN I THINK SHE HAS MORE COMPASSION THAN PEOPLE THINK. PARKS WON'T CHANGE ONE THING. FORESEE IS THIS COMMUNITIES CHANCE.
