Mayor Sam Candidate Endorsements: Box for CD4
This is the next in a series of posts where JoeB and I will give our endorsements for candidates for LA City Council and School Board. Where there is agreement we will give the official MayorSam endorsement to the candidate. Next up is CD4. For each post we will give both Joe's endorsement and mine along with our comments. The choices in CD4 are:
JoeB: Stephen has the wind at his back, and has been outstanding on the campaign trail. He's everywhere, he knows what he's talking about, and his campaign staff is very impressive. He would be a welcome fresh face on the Council.
Michael Higby: Stephen Box is the most exciting new leader in Los Angeles. He gets community and knows how to build coalitions. He has ideas that Los Angeles has long been in need of and could really be the galvanizing factor for a new kind of LA.
Verdict: Box for Council. No need to even discuss the other two guys.

Box will be a fantastic addition to a City Council devoid of both brain and brawn.

About two years ago I heard Stephen Box explain that the "City Council has its elbow firmly planted in the pulse of the City". That's when he got my vote.

Gee, and just a few months ago anyone could have mistaken this guy for the the Travelocity GNOME.
Maybe if elected he can get the City Council major discounts on their travel to useless junket locations.

Joe and Higby:
Because you are well read by activists, PLEASE, consider endorsing the four reform candidates OVER the construction firm hacks on the LACCD Board.
Remind your readers not only to vote FOR Joe Essavi, Lydia Gutierrez, Joyce Burrell, and Erick Aguire. This is the reform slate committed to financial investigation, imposing term limits, restricting contractor campaign contributions, etc.
And remind people to vote AGAINST Mona Field, Steven Veres, Scott Svonkin, and Miguel Santiago -- the special interest sellouts of LACCD.
And please encourage everyone to read today's Second Installment of Six investigative articles the LA Times will publish this week on the malfeasance in office at LACCD.

What are you thinking, HIby? Do you want the nuns to starve? Who else will have the city buy their bread?
We Catholics need Tom LaBonge to keep the doors to the Abbey open for business.
LaBonge wins in the primary.
